NEW YORK (CNNMoney) - The high price of gasoline is changing the driving and spending habits of Americans, and the public blames speculators and oil companies for the price spike, according to a new CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey.
Sixty-three percent of Americans say they have cut back on driving due to the high price of gas. And almost six in ten report spending less on other items due to the rise in prices at the pump, a sign of a spillover effect into the broader economy.
The reason the price of gasoline is so high is that it is worth every penny that people are paying for it. It is probably actually worth more than what we are paying now. What are the alternatives? There are a few, but they are either more inconvenient or more expensive. Unfortunately that is the case.
rumor has it that gas prices may be going down as low as 50 cent a gallon in the next few weeks. If gas prices go back down I wonder if the ones that blamed President Obama wrongly for high fuel prices will give him credit once they decrease. I am certain though that lower gas prices is NOT what the GOP really want to hear at the moment.
The job of the corporations is to make a profit! If making that profit ruins a few lives that is not their concern! If making that profit drags a country to it's knees– their's other countries!
Watch the prices get lower and lower as the thieves start feeling the heat from the DOJ. Slowly and surely America is starting to rinse themselves of the out right lies, well crafted mistruths, and key pieces left out of certain versions, that would point out hypocrisy. One by one, the straw arguments, and boogey men are being exposed and November 2012 will show at the polls. Which side you ask? The one with truths and not a bunch of bumper sticker slogans that have been used since the 50's, and the one who doesn't let talk radio, certain news networks tell you what to think. I would be ashamed that the people who I chose to follow, led me down the path of hate, racism, jealousy, and away from patriotism. Good luck America, and use google whenever your told something by whoever you believe in!
Heads up OPEC controls the price of oil.
You want the price to go down stop buying gas hogs and try and get a life. Plan you trips we are to spoiled and it's time we shut up and start using the blame game for our own greed.
Of course, when you poll CNN posters, this is what you get, deflecting the blame from the president to the oil companies. You know that if Bush was in office, gas prices are doing what they are doing now, and CNN polled its posters, the blame would be squarely put on Bush' shoulders. When Obama took office in January 2009, the national average price for one gallon of gas was $1.84. Last week, the current national average for one gallon of gas was $3.98, and I'm sure it's even higher than that now, this week. That means, since Obama took office, he has MORE THAN DOUBLED the price of gas!! So the fact that you ask a bunch of Liberals who to blame is hilarious CNN. Of course, you give Obama a pass, but if this were Bush, this article would be in fierce opposition to Bush, because CNN is a Liberal Tool, and so are it's posters.
Number of GOP House members that voted against ending oil companies' corporate welfare: zero.
Between the Grand Oil Party's insistence on coddling the oil barons with tax break after tax break while the middle class must endure "shared sacrifices" and doing their best to combat any reform of Wall St including specs, it's crystal clear who to vote for in 2012. Bye GOP (take your sour tea with you).
Connect the dots. Americans blame oil companies and Wall St. speculators for gas prices. Companies that mostly support which of the two major political parties in the country? Answer: Not the party currently in the White House.
So, the only ones who think our President is to blame are the GOTP..... go figure...
Just goes to show,
Republicans, Non impediti ratione cogitationis
Of course they do because that is what the left wing media in this country reports. They simply refuse to report on ANYTHING that Obama has done to make this even worse. They protect Obama at all costs, even their own integrity, what is left of it.
Err...well, yes. Are we supposed to be happy most people don't think it's evil fairies? Is the follow-up story a poll on what shape most Americans think the earth is?
Oil companies and the seculators are the ones to blame. THE FCTC needs to reign in the speculation. The President has order that they do so. So this blame game the republicans are playing trying to blame the President for driving up gas prices is nonsense.
Bust Oil Companies, and speculators....that's it....do not buy oil, just use minimum...till we get electric cars, and fuel-efficient cars...or Hybrid cars at cheaper prices.....o.k....Drill on our shores....let oil prices drop, if it does, dollar gets stronger...we need strong dollar...not weak dollar for economy....listen to this dude...
Americans whine and cry and then go hop in their gas-guzzling SUVs and speed off down the highway to get a burger and fries.
The people unwilling to give up their favorite big-engine vehicles (other than work related heavy duty) are the ones to blame.
Most Republicans do not blame the oil companies or speculators, they blame Obama and promise that if you elect them they will bring the WORLDWIDE price of gas down, just like they promised jobs, jobs, jobs if you let them back in the house. The high price issue will never be resolved by the US or any other country by themselves, it is a problem that is across the planet. There is also that pesky fact that we will eventually not be able to sustain the production needed to fuel the world and the countries that invest in alternative energy right now will lead the world economically into the future. More drilling is not the answer and government is not the answer it is only people that can make a difference.
And how much profit (taxes) does the government make per gallon? Plenty of blame to go around.
