Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama used an immigration speech Tuesday to take a jab at News Corporation CEO, Rupert Murdoch, who owns Fox News Channel.
Obama quoted the CEO, an Australian native, who said "Immigrants have made America great as the world leader in business, science, higher education and innovation."
The president was in El Paso, Texas to advocate for immigration reform as a way to strengthen the middle class, among other things.
"I want incomes for middle class families to rise again," Obama said. "I want prosperity in this country to be widely shared; I want everybody to be able to reach that American dream and that's why immigration reform is an economic imperative."

Immigration was once a good thing for this country. It no longer is.

How can anyone stand this guy. Just listening to the garbage that spews from his mouth can make your skin crawl. But what's more amazing is that there are people in this country that actually like what he says...they are mostly un-educated and un-motivated but unfortunately they can still vote.
In the 19th century – in New York City – long time immigrants – let's say from the late 18th century who were now Natives (Americans) opposed the Irish, Chinese and German who were emigrating around 1840 or so. And then these Natives (Americans) people opposed the immigrants of the late 19th century from Eastern Europe.
It would seem that the Natives (Americans) of the late 19th and 29th century has figured out it was their turn to oppose immigration.
It is too bad they do not remember that except for the Native Americans, known as Indians, we are all immigrants and the greatness of this country comes from that.
We need to find ways to encourage an easier path to citizenship so the scourge of illegal immigration can stop. ANd if those illegals who are here have been good citizens, paid taxes, educated their children and have not become a burden on the state – we need a way to bring them in and agree they are Americans.
That's not a "hit". That's free advertising.
What Obama failed to mention in his El Paso address was the fact that it was legal immigration that made this country great and not 12 million illegals roaming around and bleeding the United States coffers dry.

It would be more likely that Murdoch would put a bumper sticker on his limo that says, "I support China's violation of human rights."

It is painfully clear that our supposedly intelligent President doesn't understand the difference between legal and controlled immigration and millions of illegal aliens flooding over our borders. Anybody this ignorant needs to be removed from office in 2012.

As a Democrat, I am pretty disgusted how Dems keep purposely muddying the waters between *legal* vs *illegal* immigration. I don't think anyone has any problems with *legal* immigration.

Obama should say the difference is that Murdoch is an immigrant but he is a LEGAL immigrant who has come to America and hired a whole lot of people to work for him. But when you have these illegal immigrants they are just draining the economy and not giving anything back. I am not against immigration but I am against illegal immigration. There is wrong and then there is the right way to come to our country but Obama is only seeing the wrong way and thats why we will always have this problem. Obama has his own family who is here illegally but we are not hearing anything else about it. She should be deported and made to apply the right way to come to America. What Obama is doing is all political and it will hurt our country in the long run. If FOX news could be as respectful when their "analysts" talk about the President and virtually everything the President does. CHANGE that – IF Fox News representatives could just be honest.
And while I'm at it has anyone noticed how the local Fox News stations are becoming more obvious in how they spin biased "reporting" on the issues. They have local announcers, many who know little about the complexities of national affairs, spewing FOX talking points as though they were learned and seasoned political journalists. They don't realize that the content of the news feeds they get straight form writers paid by Murdoch is deliberately and expertly crafted soft propaganda. ie. "the mosque that Obama was letting them build at ground zero." It wasn't a mosque, wasn't at ground zero, and the President has absolutely no control over building permits for construction in NYC.

Anything regarding Democrats and Obama earns your scorn. Nothing they have ever done has earned any praise from you, nothing.
