Huckabee to make 2012 announcement

(CNN) - Current and former advisers to former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee insist they do not know what he plans to announce Saturday on his Fox News show, fueling speculation he won't seek a second shot at the Republican nomination.

Signs have mounted for the last two years that Huckabee - while keen on staying in the political arena - has not been preparing to embark on a second national campaign.

He changed his residency to Florida, where he and his wife Janet built a home in Destin. Several former campaign aides took jobs with other prospective 2012 candidates like former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, while his former campaign manager Chip Saltsman went to work for a member of Congress.

And just this week, Huckabee broke the news that he co-founded a company to teach history lessons to children, an unusual move for someone on the precipice of a national campaign.

Throughout all the tea leaf-reading, Huckabee's small band of advisers have maintained a delicate political balancing act, keeping the governor from dipping his toes too far into presidential waters lest he jeopardize his Fox News deal, while doing just enough to assure reporters that he is still seriously considering a bid.

Fox News told CNN the intended announcement will be live on his show Saturday night.

"Governor Huckabee will announce tomorrow night on his program whether or not he intends to explore a presidential bid. He has not told anyone at FOX News Channel his decision," "Huckabee" executive producer Woody Fraser said in a statement.

humm no post, is anyone seriously going to vote for this blowhard? The political system, the way its designed, the way the districting is done, the justice system, and even the constitution at this point is a joke. Texas seems to be the only one who actually follows the rules and follow through on their laws without hesitation. Anyone with at least half a brain can see the race will clearly be (or should be) between Obama and Paul, period! anyone else voting otherwise are either white collar criminals, retards or uneducated in the way the world turns, or has been turning I should say.

He is very secretive, just like he was when he was Governor here in Arkansas. he does everything behind closed doors so the public won't know what he is up to. As far as "most" Arkansans go, Florida can have him! Been there done that don't want him back

I seriously doubt he's going to run. Why would he give up his cushy gig on Fox and the radio where he makes considerable money, doesn't have to answer to anyone and can say what he would do if he was the President. Basically he gets the platform to say what he wants to without the responsibility, pressure or hassles of being President. Who in their right minds would actually want to be President anymore. No one respects the position, no matter what you say or do you infuriate 50% of the country and it doesn't pay that great.

Huckabee is neither smart enough. nor rational evough to ever hold the president's office. Heck, half the reason most of the world disrespects you guys at the moment is because you guys actually put IDIOTS like him onto the National stage and then actually vote for them.

What a bunch of buffoons and losers! Huckabee will never be POTUS; neither will Gingrich; neither will Palin; neither will Bachmann; neither will Romney; neither will ... oh well, nevermind.

We don't need an ordained minister to lead this country. Enough evangelical nonsense already.

So now candidate announcements are used to raise ratings.... "Mike Huckabee is brought to you by Nabisco..."

I know my family will be huddled around the TV in eager anticipation...

I hope FOX plans on giving equal time to all the announced candidates at that time since he is not only getting to make this announce free on the air, but is also getting paid, thereby making it a campaign contribution.

Ron Paul has the only glimmer of intelligence in the Republican party. That said I think the republican view on abortion, religious zealotry, and health care will still be a deciding factor against having another one of "them" in "power".

The announcement will be live on the show while the rest of the program is taped.

I saw a portion of that DVD that teaches history to children, one big big problem, it's re-written history, not the truth, in other words a lie. Does that surprise anyone? The New GOP!?! Same old lies from Huck and the rest of the GOP field.

  23. Joe from CT, not Lieberman

If he is doing it on his show, that means he has to announce he is not seeking office, otherwise he would lost that nice job he got from Rupert Murdoch (you know, that immigrant who is anti-immigrant who's network is supported by an Arabian millionaire) at Fox (pretending to be the) News. After all, every time Murdoch would allow his face or voice on any of his outlets he would be required BY LAW to grant the same face and voice time to all the rest of the 14 other Republican not-sure-if-they-are Candidates, plus to President Obama. That would be too much of a loss in revenue for him.

Check this out. He didn't get fired or laid off by Fox News.
He cannot legally announce a candidacy on or during his show.
    Conclusion. He's not running. That's a certainty.
