It will still not be enough to satisfy some quarters.

I hope he has some new refineries in mind. They're producing at max already (when they're not flooded out). I sure hope he builds them where floods and hurricanes don't wipe them out on a regular basis.

Regulating the speculators on wall street is the fastest way to get the prices down, but the corporate republicans won't allow that. Obstructionists have one thing in mind, and that is to make our President look bad. Vote republican if you're stupid.

We have to do all we can to reduce the OPEC supply control on world oil prices. That is drilling, CAFE, Open Fuel Standard and synthetic fuels for starters.

Although this will not make a difference in the price at the pump it is good that there are some measures in place to safely drill and explore for more oil. This combined with serious investment in alternative energy is progressive. As far as the US changing the worldwide high cost of fuel, there is no amount of drilling that will help with the current price. Until it is understood that the entire world including the countries that are rich in oil production are paying record high prices at the pump. Some of the biggest producing countries like Canada currently pay much more at the pump the the US and no government is going to change the price at the pump and one country is not going to get a price break when most of the world is currently paying record high prices.

The whole country is, and has been held hostage by big oil. This occurs every time republicans, are elected to office. Take a short strole down memory lane and unless you've been drinking the Kool Aid on a daily basis, you'll have to agree that it's ironic how the prices at the pump are affected by republican victories at the ballot box. Especially congressional elections. Maybe the money from K Street is too enticing?

  7. Stop out of control Democrat spending - CUT UP THE CHINA CREDIT CARD, no debt ceiling increase

Geez, he sure changes his tune when the problem affects his re-elect chances. But actions speak louder than words, which he has an endless supply of. Do you honestly think the Democrats in Congress are going to help oil companies after they've spent the last week attacking and grilling them in DC?

This is nothing but a show and a shell game by Obama and the Democrats. They are NOT committed to increasing domestic oil production and spare me the stupid comebacks about it being up now because that was from actions taken YEARS ago under the Bush administration. Unless this imbecile and his moron Democrat party members get serious and start increasing drilling in this country, in 10 years you'll see $8/gal gas.

And BTW, why is Obama helping other countries drill for oil off shore when all you do is try and shut down off shore drilling in the US? Can't WE use the jobs here? Can't WE use the oil HERE??
