Secret Service apologizes for Twitter gaffe

(CNN) – The Secret Service is apologizing Wednesday after an employee's personal dislike for Fox News landed in an official tweet.

The message, posted Wednesday on the @SecretService Twitter account read, "Had to monitor Fox for a story. Can't. Deal. With. The. Blathering."

According to the agency, the tweet was "immediately removed" and an "internal follow-up" is underway.

"An employee with access to the Secret Service's Twitter account, who mistakenly believed they were on their personal account, posted an unapproved and inappropriate tweet," read a statement from the U.S. Secret Service. "We apologize for this mistake, and the user no longer has access to our official account. Policies and practices which would have prevented this were not followed and will be reinforced for all account users."

The Secret Service newly joined Twitter with its first official tweet from @SecretService on May 9, 2011.

I wonder what Journalism professors tell their students about ethics and Fox News... Does Fox pay more than the other folks? What's honor worth in today's dollars?

Is this the same secret service blathering that busted in to arrest two college students for hanging Obama in effigy during the campaign screaming racism, but just days later when Palin was hung in effigy, they just shrugged, no investigation let alone arrest, and said it was just political free speech.
Is this the same secret service who was finally forced to tell the truth and say that CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS and NBC were lying when they proclaimed that people were yelling "kill him" during Palin rallies. Yet, none of these MSM's ever apoligized to the McCain campaign. Same thing when John Connors clearly lied about being spit on and called the n-word by tea party members, but the MSM never backed off and kept spreading the lie. Where is this secret service agents outrage against this blathering by the MSM. The man needs to be fired or at least punished for "blathering" on twitter when he obviously was neglecting his job.

Amen. The agent did nothing wrong and I hope they are not in any trouble.

You'd have to have the worlds largest tin foil hat to listen to Fox and actually absorb that stuff.

Don't apologize...just give the employee a raise for telling the truth. Fox News, the master of misinformation.
