(CNN) – Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels received 16 stitches to his forehead after being struck by a door after a workout Friday, his office said.
After finishing a workout at an Indianapolis gym, the potential 2012 presidential candidate was standing near a door that suddenly swung open and struck him. Daniels was transported to a nearby hospital, treated, and released.
The governor is currently recovering at home, his office said.
His spokeswoman Jane Jankowski confirmed to CNN that the governor told her he "uttered a creative expletive" when the accident occurred. He did not provide any further details on the exact nature.
At the hospital Daniels, known for his penny-pinching ways and sense of humor, asked the doctor if he was going to be charged for each of the stitches he was receiving, Jankowski said. He was assured he would not be.
"He seems to be doing fine and is in good spirits," she told CNN.
As of now there are no plans for him to change his schedule next week, which includes a visit to Washington for a fiscal summit and a Republican fundraisers as well as attending festivities related to the Indianapolis 500 race.
– CNN's Kevin Bohn and Steve Brusk contributed to this report.

On his forehead? Why...that could be almost anywhere on his head! Which quadrant?
I cannot wait to see the comments here about this. If taking his time to decide whether to run for president means he is not qualified (the common perception from CNN readers), then I cannot wait to see what stupid things they have to say about this.
Sixteen stitches? Struck by a door? Okey-dokey. At least it isn't QUITE as bad as when Bob Dole stumbled off a podium during a speech he delivered on his campaign trail. Oops, my bad. Daniels is still waiting for a yes confirmation from some mythical figure yet to be disclosed before he can decide if he is REALLY going to run after all. So, technically speaking, he isn't a candidate yet. Just wanted to clear things up ... certainly don't want to steal his thunder by starting a rumor that he's made it official.
How could anything miss that forehead it takes up 2/3 of his face.
Hey, Gov, did that door say "planned parenthood on it"????
16 stitches to his forehead?!
this guy can't handle a door knob?...Wow! wonder if he can handle his wife divorcing him again!
Daniels definitely has ALOT on his mind, I'll bet he was HEAD of the class in school.
Nothing like having a door slam in your face to send a message. Tell your constituents why you feel Indiana has done so well under your leadership. Rusting dead factories, decaying cities, jobs gone from steel mills to India, sure sounds like good leadership for failure.
Shame it wasn't his mouth.
This is not a "workout accident", this is a "hit by a door because he was standing too close to a door" accident.
A clear indication he is unqualified for President.
Ouch. I don't want him for President, but no one should be joking about an injury. Hope he's well, and recovers fast.
At least he is trying to get in shape for a run that he won't win. Ouch!!!
Likely story.
To be fair, we are dealing with a "tophead" here, not a "forehead".
Sure let's consider putting him in the White House where he will able to do some real damage to himself and the country!
damn, that's one giant forehead
That's a lot of territory.
Who cares???? Oh I just want to know what health insurance he has
and how much he pays for it out of his own pocket?
That old "door-hit-me" excuse. I'm sure he's covering up abuse by his spouse.
That's what happens when you try to open the door with your head!
lyou guys are ridiculous....a potential candidate is injured and requires stitches...and this is a clear indication that he is not qualified for the oval office? God I hope this rapture does happen tomorrow so i don't have to listen to this crap from Libs anymore...
Brain damaged. Well, he's still more qualified than George Bush.
the USA electorate will never elect a President with a comb-over.
An Obama supporter no doubt.... the violent left continues is campaign of violence and intimidation.
