Netanyahu to Obama: No return to 1967 lines

Washington (CNN) –Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday firmly rejected President Barack Obama's call for a return to the borders that existed before the 1967 Middle East war, telling the U.S. leader that such a move is impossible in light of current security concerns and demographic realities.

Listen: Candy Crowley and Bob Costantini talk Obama-Middle East and the GOP's Help Wanted attitude:

The two leaders pledged to work together, however, in the pursuit of a comprehensive Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement.

Dutch will be the first to tell you that the State of Israel is part of a grand scheme for the illuminati and freemasonry to take over the world. Right, ConservaFASCISTS?

  3. Israel got thrown under the bus by Obama

Obama lied in his speech. The American people do NOT support Israel at its origin borders which are totally indefensible. It would spell the end of Israel should the Palestinians and Hamas and Syria and Iran continue on their path to the destruction of Israel.

It simply amazes me that ANY American Jew would support or vote for Obama ever again. This fool has thrown them to the wolves. He is NOT a friend of Israel. With friends like this, who needs enemies.

Israel cannot be a free country, with equality for all, without sacrificing its identity as a Jewish state. Much like the USA, when all people within your borders can vote, your identity changes. For good or for bad.

The majority of Americans don't give a care about israel!
But to report that is to go against YOUR ally,
If they won't compromise then let them throw stale bagels from their side of the gate who cares??

I wonder if this is why George Mitchell resigned? I'll bet he got wind of this insane speech and decided to bail out. Any sane person cannot support what Obama did. Obama has alienated almost EVERY ally this country has. He has been a DISASTER to the foreign policy of this country. He has changed our image abroad alright. He's changed it to DIRT.

Reading and listening to ALL of the experts on this question I have to ask, "Where do you get your information?" I have family that has lived in Israel since the 60's. THEY WANT PEACE. I am a "South Florida Jewish Voter". I back the president. Until you have lived there....you have no opinions I want to hear.

The information I have is that, like many religions, there are several Jewish sects. Some of them agree with you, some don't. What say you?

Maybe Obama should spend a little time solving America's problems ie; budget, economy, national debt, jobs, immigration, floods, storm damage, just to name a few.
After he is not the ruler of the world yet!

I wonder if this is Obama's lame attempt to deflect attention from his miserable domestic failure? Anybody else notice he's all of a sudden doing a lot of foreign policy bungles lately? Guess he's run out of things in the USA to screw up. Now he wants to mess up other countries as well. BEWARE ISRAEL!

People may disagree, but we have been walking this tightrope for far too long and even though I may disagree with President Obama on other issues, he has this one right. It is time Israel stopped taking advantage of our good nature and did the right thing and get the heck off that land, so we can make some progress and bring this issue to a rightful conclusion.

Netanyahu is a conservative. Israel has grown to comfortable with the blank checks and the blind eye that they got from George W. Bush. They had free reign from their leash for 8 years, and Netanyahu does not want to go back.

And there is that little problem with a UN vote coming up this fall concerning the Palestinian situation, which right now looks like Israel will come out on the short end if they continue as they have for the past decade. Most of the countries that matter view their settlements as continued acts of war. Take a look at a map comparing the 1967 West Bank with today. One glance will tell you that Israel has consumed well over half of it, including all of the shore line areas.

"Maybe Obama should spend a little time solving America's problems"

Israel and the middle east are our problem. It's simple math: Israel was given X, therefore, Israel = X. Israel tried to take Y without any right. Israel =/= X + Y. Israel should go back to X.

Israel took Y after the Arabs tried to take the original X. Your math is flawed.

@ Class Warfare – is there an actual point you are making, or just throwing mud with no worthwhile input to add to the debate. We all get that you hate OUR PRESIDENT. You and your Obama hating just can't stand the fact that we have a very intelligent President who can attend to many different issues at one time. I guess a stock market that has doubled in value in 2 years, 7 straight quarters of economic growth, and 14 consecutive months of private sector job growth are not enough for you. He didn't drive us into this ditch, but you just want to sit there and criticise while he and others work to pull our country out. Beyond even that, he has major legislative accomplishments that most Presidents never achieve, even in two terms, landmark healthcare reform, landmark financial reform, and the repeal of don't ask, don't tell just to name a few.

Can't wait for all the crying over the last 6 years of his Presidency. I really do enjoy it, because if those who don't want America to live up to its potential are miserable, that means we are making progress.

  17. Democrat Class Warfare - Destroying the economy, destroying the country

Israel's borders were set when the world was unaware that every country surrounding Israel would be at war with them endlessly trying to destroy the country. Since then, reality has changed and Israel now knows what it needs to have a fighting chance to survive as a country. That means defensible borders. Borders that leave a country open to attack and destruction in a matter of hours are not valid borders given the reality on the ground. The 1967 borders leave Israel open to quick and sure destruction. Nobody in their right mind would agree to this insanity.

If he was a long-held belief even if it was rarely stated then to me that says Presidents of both political parties believed in it, so this just makes it blatantly obvious that the GOP'ers are just playing politics. I'm sure if Reagan or Bush had publicly endorsed this then the GOP wouldn't have a problem with it (of course, then the Dem's probably would). I really hate that the opposing side (no matter who it is) always has to appear against something even when they've clearly been for it in the past just to make it look like their not on the same side as the other guy. Crazy!

So your argument is that because the owner of Y tried to take their X away, they suddenly have a right to take Y? Two wrongs make a right? You tried to take my land so now I get to take yours? "All bets are off...I get to colonize and oppress you now"? Thank you for that lovely glimpse into the workings of the conservative mind.

Please note–Israel X did not try to take Y Y attacked X thinking they would get more of X but lost part of Y Israel was not the entity that started the 67 war

    They have Israel,
    They own America,
And now the jewish owned media(cnn included)is trying to convince the world to believe that ALL of america fully support Israel and everything that they do?
I think Israel has for too long been giving the right to do as they feel,at some point they have to give a little and if they want to be as hardlined as their adversaries(whom israel has already shown military dominance over)then let them go it alone period!
The USA has NO vested/invested payout/benefited gain in that part of the world.

It seems to me that this conflict has been going on for decades without any resolution in sight. I think that based on our current critical financial woes, and our domestic situation the President felt it necessary to state what before was only thought of.
Americans, although we care, are tired and wary of continuing to send money overseas. Although we consider Israel our ally we see no end in sight to this situation, both sides are entrenched and we are caught in the middle. Our nerves are frayed, our bank account depleted, we are trying to ressucitate OUR country. We don't have the energy nor the resources to stay this deeply involved.
Israel needs to find a way to resolve this equitably. Two wrongs do not make a right. These are soverign nations, they need to start acting like it.IMO.
