Alaska government to release Palin emails

(CNN) - The Alaska governor’s office is set to release more than 24,000 pages of records relating to Sarah Palin’s term as governor. Requests from media organizations for the documents stem as far back as the 2008 campaign.

Members of the media, including CNN, were informed Tuesday evening in an email from the governor’s office that the release would occur soon. The notification said some of the documents will be redacted and others will be withheld due to several legal privileges that are permissible under the state’s disclosure law, including attorney-client and some executive deliberations.

What will be made public are Palin’s emails dealing with state business—using both her official account as well as private accounts. After the media and others made freedom of information requests in 2008, a search was done “in an effort to capture everything in the state email system” that would comply with the request, Linda Perez, the administrative director for current Gov. Sean Parnell said. Then lawyers within the state Department of Law recommended what should be released and what should be withheld under state requirements, and the final decision was made by the governor’s offce, Perez said.

She said 2,275 pages are not being released.

The original requests for these papers came in 2008 shortly-after Palin was tapped to be Sen. John McCain’s running mate, and there was intense interest in her governorship, including several controversies related to her tenure.

Because of the volume of records and the number of copies that need to be made, the governor’s office hopes the documents will be released by next week.

During the 2008 election, palin described herself an “open book” to NBC’s Brian Williams. And then she immediately was irritated in that same interview when Mr. Williams asked her if she’d ever release her medical records. Ha! The cunning fraud is one of the most secretive (former) candidates that we’ve ever had the misfortune to know. It is absolutely no surprise that her emails are being redacted by someone she appointed. This woman needs to undergo serious vetting whether she runs or not–Mrs. sarah “open book” palin is a dishonest and SECRETIVE menace to our nation.

For those that say we're scared, what bothers me is that she's a scam artist. How is she getting the money to ride around the country in a fine bus? Largely through contributions from her fans. She's stringing people along, spending their money - and all while claiming to be religious. She's unethical to the greatest of extents - and manipulating people along the way. It's sicking.

    Scotty,

The left isn't afraid of the half-governor halfwit. We would RELISH her nomination as the GOP nominee. We are however appalled at the attention she gets, and by the support from the ultra-right.

Palin criticizes our current administration, but she has never been forthcoming with information regarding herself or her governorship, if you can call it that. I'm afraid we will see such a sanitized version of what the real e-mails would have revealed, that it won't be worth the time to read them. I sure wish people who support her would wake up and realize what a true fake and idiot she is.

And there is Piper, right up front!!! I know it's summer, but Piper needs to be in somebody's school catching up on the 3+ years she has missed. A Rhodes Scholar she definitely will NOT be.

Funny to see Sarah's fans defending her to the bitter end. They seem to be on the same brain-dead wavelength with this muttonhead.

The left does not fear Sarah Palin. They fear what she represents. And that is the dumbing down of America and the return of a 1920's style backwoods mentality.

Hey Scotty: It ain't fear at all. It's simple pity towards anyone, media included, that actually takes this woman seriously.

Sarah Palin believes that the earth is only 6,000 years old and that early man walked alongside the dinosaurs. She believes that early man rode dinosaurs to church every Sunday.

On an entirely unrelated matter, would someone please suggest to NASA that they retain one shuttle in working shape – For Emergencies Only – until such time as there is a viable replacement. Thank you.

Will they be unedited? Can't wait to see if she writes the way she talks. Or did someone else write them for her?

The e-mails will just be further proof that the media paying attention to this stupid, annoying woman makes them as idiotic s she is. Come on, so-called journalists. Give it a freakin' rest already. We are sick of hearing about this bimbo who's dumber than a box of hair.

its not that Palin scares "the left" as much as "the left" wants all of her supporters to see who she truly is....an uneducated, greedy, power-hungry fraud. then "the left" can laugh at all the dumb people who were suckered by this lady.

Oh, poor Sarah! How the media is being sooo unfair to her. The media should report only fair and only based on facts... except for the several years long obsession with Obama's religion, affiliation witha has-been terrorist as well as a radical pastor, and of course his place of birth. THOSE are fair to report on. Palin's official business as governor is not...

Some of the more viral remarks come from Republicans (>60% disapproval) who feel she blew it for McCain. As far as liberals go there are many who dislike Palin, but a whole lot of the negative remarks from liberals are sarcastic or cynical pleas for her to run.

Obama does not need protection in the media. Thanks to right wing media, there is more negative content about Obama than there is positive content. During the 2008 campaign, a survey was taken in early spring. 80% of the web articles cast Obama in a negative light according to a survey which conducted was before the Rev. Wright fiasco began.
