Economy needs private sector boost, Goolsbee says

WASHINGTON (CNN) - The private sector must become the driver of a still fragile economic recovery buffeted by high gas prices, the Japanese earthquake and tsunami and other "headwinds" so far this year, President Barack Obama's top economic adviser said Sunday.

Austan Goolsbee, chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisers, told CNN's "State of the Union" that the administration's focus is on strengthening business investment and expansion to keep the recovery going.

I thInk it's interesting to note that when the unemployment rate fell to it's lowest in 2 years hardly an news organizations reported it but as soon as it rises they're all over the story. I thought that the unemployment rate falling was great news so I turn of CNN and fox news to see what other people thought and there wasn't a single headline reporting this information. He only thing they had posted was the fact that the unemployment numbers were released but I bet that this will be the main topic of Sunday news.shows.

The economic down turn reminds me of a brawl breaking out at the high school prom. (TARP) Law enforcement arrives and restores some sense of order, and the dance is allowed to resume. (Recovery Act) The lights are left on and the music that was being played previously is changed to something more traditional, more like what was played at past proms. (Financial Regs) The spiked punch has been removed and participants have been frisked for contraband. (Foreclosusres) The party is all ready to resume with a completely new atmosphere. No couple wants to be the first on the floor (Private Sector Hiring) All of the couples are waiting to see who ventures out on the dance floor first, and what dance style will that first couple use.

Bring home our troops from Iraq and Afghanistan and use all those billions to build our country and strengthen the economy. It is evil to cut benefits, education, projects while we are still wasting billions in wars. Charity begins at home.
