FreedomWorks asking members for advice

Washington (CNN) - FreedomWorks is reaching out to its membership for guidance on which Republican candidates to endorse in next year's GOP Senate primary battles.

"We are determined to support the most fiscally conservative person who can help put a stop to the Obama/Reid big government agenda in Washington, DC. The most important part of this decision-making process is hearing from you, our hard-working, liberty-loving FreedomWorks members," says FreedomWorks Chairman and former House Majority Leader Dick Armey, in an email to supporters.

FreedomWorks is a nonprofit conservative organization based in the nation's capital that helps train volunteer activists and has provided much of the organization behind the tea party movement. The group also supports conservative candidates in Republican primary and general election contests.

FreedomWorks has already made two Senate endorsements. In February the organization backed Rep. Jeff Flake of Arizona to succeed retiring Republican Sen. Jon Kyl. Last week the group backed former Texas Solicitor General Ted Cruz to succeed retiring GOP Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson. FreedomWork's endorsement of Cruz was followed almost immediately by the Club for Growth, an anti-tax group, and CNN contributor Erick Erickson, the editor-in-chief of influential conservative blog, Red State.

Armey's Monday email to supporters asked for their opinions on whom to endorse in Missouri, where three major Republican candidates are vying to take on Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill in next year's general election

"Please take a moment to send us your thoughts about this race, including who you think we should endorse and why, as well as any information you have on who we should not endorse," asks Armey, in the email.

Brendan Steinhauser, director of federal and state campaigns for FreedomWorks, tells CNN that the group will also be asking for advice from its members on other Senate contests, including Florida, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, and Ohio. (Steinhauser is not related to this reporter.)

FreedomWorks has also been on the ground in Indiana, assisting in the search to find a consensus candidate to primary challenge longtime Republican Sen. Richard Lugar. The group has also sent representatives to Utah, to possibly find a conservative challenger to longtime GOP Sen. Orrin Hatch.

Democrats currently have a 53 to 47 majority in the Senate. They are defending 23 seats (21 Democrats and two independents who caucus with the party) next year, with the GOP defending 10 seats.

    "hard-working, liberty-loving FreedomWorks members"...

Because liberals don't work hard? Liberals don't love liberty? This kind of language makes me sick.

Anyone who thinks Democrats and Independents are not "all in" on the concept of spending less money is out of touch and has been listening to too much right wing spin. But, you conservatives need to ask yourself what type of government do some of these right wing activist organizations really want. They want a governement that does not help tornado victims without and act of Congress. They want to lay off police officers and let every citizen be his own militia for his or her self. They want to close public schools and require that parents pay for their children's education to private enterprise. Oops, I ran out of room. They want Imperialism, that's what they want.

Yeah, shut 'er down and quit saying "No!" to nearly everything Obama is trying to get done.

Dick Armey and his friends want to cut all spending on social services and turn our nation into a dog-eat-dog third-world country where the top 1% (that would be Dick and his friends) own and control everything, there is virtually no Middle Class and most of us live in poverty.

It's also absolutely disgusting how much energy and money Dick and his friends like the Koch brothers are spending to bring down President Obama. They've blocked and obstructed everything they can, and then try to blame the President for our country not being in better shape.

Dick and his friends block judicial nominations, then have their lapdog, Chief Justice John Roberts complain that there’s a “crisis” in the judiciary due to unfilled positions.

Dick and his friends cut taxes during wartime, then get all upset about the inevitable deficits, demanding cuts be made to those programs that hurt average Americans.

Dick and his friends want to layoff public sector workers, so tax revenue further goes down and unemployment goes up – so they can blame a slow economy on the President.

Dick and his friends refuse to raise taxes on those most afford it; instead, they want to continue funneling money upward from the lower classes to the wealthy, to continue our subsidy of their outsourcing and off-shoring of jobs and wealth.

Dick and his friends refuse to end oil industry subsidies, even though its making record-breaking profits.

Dick and his friends refuse to make meaningful cuts in defense spending, because so much of their wealth comes from the military-industrial complex.

With Dicks like that, who needs enemies?

Good luck Dick! We're hoping all 23 can be dumped for conservative Senators. Given the total fiscal disaster the Democrats have brought upon this country, that goal should be set. Voting for a Democrat in 2012 will be the same as voting for the bankruptcy of the USA.

Dick Armey, the Koch brothers and all the Republicans who've been doing their best to make things as bad as possible for our country, so in 2012 they can blame President Obama.

They don't give a rat's behind how much our country and her people suffer, because their end game has absolutely NOTHING to do with our long-term well-being and EVERYTHING to do with their short-term economic gain.

If that means bringing our country to its knees so they can regain power, all the better.

Afterall, their goal is to turn the United States into just another cheap labor force, where most folks live in poverty, lacking public education, social services and any real hope for the future.

Dick and his buddies can weather the worst economic storms, because their all millionaires and billionaires.

It's up to us in 2012 to save our country from the likes of Dick.

  10. The Clear Thinking Independent Voter

These guys really need to stop trying to demonize the other side. The truth is we have $14 Trillion worth of debt and at least half [actually much more] of that debt came about under REPUBLICAN administrations.

Even under President Obama, anyone who takes a moment to think for themselves has to say, "President #44 inherieted two UNFUNDED wars from President #43"; which have continued to exacerbate the annual deficits and add to the National Debt.

Now, on January 21, 2009, would the war-mongering, supposedly-strong-on-defense Republicans have supported Obama ENDING both US Treasury-draining wars IMMEDIATELY? No, they wouldn't have.

So instead of lying, deceitful rhethoric, if the GOP politicians would speak the truth, and offered up REAL solutions to PAY DOWN THE DEBT, maybe the country could recover faster.

Footnote: Cutting taxes to the wealthiest Americans DOES NOT pay down the National Debt. It increases it.

I love when they talk about big government, "the day of fiscal reckoning is here and the fiscal disaster that the Democrats brought upon this country, This is really funny considering it was the Republicans who totally ruined our economy, one can only imagine what would of happened if President Obama had inherited a surplus but alas he inherited an unnecessary war an economy the like we have not seen since the great depression and these bias idiots keep spouting lies. get your facts straight

@ The Day of Financial Reckoning is HERE – The Great Democrat Welfare Society Ends:

I've got 3 words for you:

Ryan Medicare Plan. You are making this too easy. Not only will we hold the Senate, we will take back every one of those House seats and then some. After the NY-26 election ( btw, I live in the district, and the polling showed Ryan was THE factor in handing the race to Hochul, not Jack Davis), over 93 GOP seats were shown to be in jeopardy. Just keep throwing out ideas that gut the safety net for the middle class and leave the uber-wealthy Ayn Rand disciples with even more cash, and you will seal the fate of the GOP/Tea Party even in its strongholds. So by all means, keep cranking out those crazy ideas that only serve to give the Romneys, Kochs and Palins of the world more vacation homes and leave real working people out in the cold. You will be an accessory in the destruction and death of the GOP as a viable political force for generations, leaving only an embittered remnant huddled in the corner, listening to AM radio: I hear there is a chair waiting for you.

Message to the Conservatives of America: You're destroying the country you claim to love so much by acting like Fifth Graders. GROW UP ! The world will never be exactly as you want it to be, so stop stomping your feet & having temper tantrums. The Peace/Love Generation of the 60's have come to accept that reality. Now it's your turn.

The question is about Dick Armey is what does he really think will happen. I hope he understands that everything needs to be looked at. We also need to tone down the rhetoric so that there can be some level of compromise. If that can't be done, then we have doomed ourselves and become somewhat like the Islamic fanatics that hate us.

What does Mr. Armey propose to do when the social services that rely in all or in part on funds from the federal government dry up? Is h,e and his friends to some degree, plan on funding those worthy organizations that help people find jobs? Get the mental health and food that they need? There is more, but it would take a while.

  22. GOP-Tea Party Radical Social Engineering to Kill Grandma Medicare

People like Dick Armey, the Koch Brothers, and Karl Rove GPS are professional fraudsters...and they are in it to earn a paycheck!...they dont really care if America is in the toilet!!!

America election is NOW a BIG BUSINESS!!!...with every koch, Dick Armey, and Karl Rovey coming up with a not-profit organization taking money from whoever and whomever donors...including foreign donors to influence US elections!!!!

The US flag, the pins and statements like "hard-working, liberty-loving" are just political posturing & shell game to make right-wing lemmings believe that some within the US govt are unAmerican and some Americans are more patriotic than others!

Dont believe these traitors who are tearing America apart...dont sell you vote or your conscience for one political party believing that it is better than the other!

The great USA is in a dire economic straits today because of both the GOP-Tea Party and the democrats who went along and voted in lockstep to fund 2 unending unpaid wars, tax cuts for the rich, deregulation & tax loopholes for corporations to ship jobs overseas while GE is paying zero taxes!!!

If any American thinks Dick Armey, the Koch Brothers, or Karl Rove seriously care about your welfare...then you might have some screws lose upstairs and needs to be checked into a psychiatric ward!!!

Here's some more words: Unemployment would go to 15% under a republicans administration. Why? Because the republicans don't care about JOBS! Not one jobs bill as been presented since the republican "saviors" took the Congress in 2010. At least President Obama is trying. What are the republicans doing? Trying to end Medicare as we know it; trying to destroy teachers, firemen, police, planning to end the deficit on the backs of the poor while ensuring that the rich get even richer. How's those words for ya?
