Ann Coulter surveys GOP 2012 field

(CNN) – Conservative columnist Ann Coulter hearts former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

“She’s fabulous,” Coulter said during an interview Tuesday on CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight."

“She is a big star. She’s virtually the biggest thing on the planet.”

But Coulter cautioned the potential presidential candidate about setting her sights on the White House.

“I wouldn’t [run for president] if I were in her shoes,” she said. “I think it would be the worst job imaginable, both running and holding the office.”

And for one already-declared candidate, Coulter has changed her tune - slightly.

She praised one GOP contender and put down another in one swipe at February's Conservative Political Action Conference, saying, “If you don’t run Chris Christie, Romney will be the nominee and we’ll lose.” But the conservative firebrand now admits to having warmer feelings for the former governor of Massachusetts, who recently announced his bid for the presidency.

“I now think the economy is such a disaster and Obama has such a glass jaw that we might even win with Romney. And Romney isn’t a disaster … I like him.”

Yet Coulter still has some reservations about Romney, who also sought the GOP nomination in 2008, and seemed to save her enthusiasm for a firmly declared noncandidate.

“The problem with Romney that a lot of people have, people like me, conservatives, is Romneycare. I still think he’ll probably be the nominee unless Christie jumps in,” she said.

“Christie’s pretty stunning.”

Coulter on Palin: “She is a big star. She’s virtually the biggest thing on the planet.”

Lady Gaga is currently the biggest thing – and could probably wipe the floor with Palin in a policy debate!

It's Palin all the way. Forget the rest. The public want Sarah with Christie maybe as vice president. But it will take a shinning star to bring this country back from disaster that Obama and crowd has pushed us to. PALIN 2012.

This was a great interview Piers Morgan. You didn't let Coulter get away with any of her crap like most interviewers do. She looked a bit uncomfortable at times and didn't know what to say because she is so used to controlling the conversation and not being called out on her many outrageous claims. This election season is going to be different it seems. People are expecting more accountability from not only the politicians but the media too. Everyone is going to be fact-checked much more which is really good.

Coulter created herself to sell books and whatever else, saying controversial things so people will perk up to listen to her. She really hasn't contributed anything to the well being of America. Palin on the other hand was given the golden microphone by McCain, the guy who opened Pandora's Box – PALIN! Both women are only worried about making BIG CASH by saying outrageous things and complaining about how they think America is right now. If it's so bad, why not move to another country?

I don't know what she's smoking with her bubbly praise of Palin. The far right conservatives are the only ones who show positive approval of Palin, every other demographic, including the key swinger voter independents, have a super negative view of Palin.

I do agree that Romney is also flawed though. He's already on record attacking "Obamacare", but you just have to point to the Romneycare package he passed in Massuchusets and he looks like an obvious hypocrit. I doubt he could win the election under any circumstances.

Coulter, Palin, Bachmann. Is this what our once glorious Republican Party has been reduced to? What a disaster to let these three represent us and what we should stand for.

Please ask Ms. Coulter about the Glass-Steagal Act and why it was put in place and what people have taken advantage of the act. She always evades questions and blames Democrats. She never has solutions and never has any blame for the republicans in the american breakdown. Such as the deregulation of insurance of Bush and Co. Or the further deregulation of the Glass-Steagal act of Bush and republicans. Until they do the republicans and independents will vote Democrat.

Even if palin was the brightest light in the tanning bed (she’s clearly NOT!), she still would be a horrible nominee. She’s hateful and totally in love with herself. She’s a thrill seeker narcissist egomaniac with a zillion skeletons in her closet (why did she keep her medical records hidden during her VP stint? She did tell NBC’s Brian Williams that there is something controversial in them). Where there is fire there is smoke!

This manly girl palin (ever heard her say “man up” and her other crude talk?) reminds me a great deal of Rep. Weiner and John Edwards. We’ve learned that these men have behaves outrageously and are chronic liars. These men have crashed and burned big time. Now imagine if palin were somehow to become the 2012 GOP nominee and if the National Enquirer's 2008 story about her alleged adulterous affair were proven true as an October surprise, she would then have caused the Repubs to lose AGAIN!

As the experts have been saying in the Weiner scandal, there are certain types of narcissist personalities that thrive on risk-taking and excitement. That sounds like palin to me. The Repubs would be absolutely nuts to make this secretive and erratic woman their nominee.

  14. seriously???

Just watched the Daily Show's covg of Palin's Paul Revere mistake and her trying to defend it on Fox News. And Coulter thinks she's a big star. She may be, but for all the wrong reasons. Just as Coulter is a "star" I guess.

Ann, like her idol is an idiot. What possible reason can she give to say this woman is the biggest thing on the planet?
But thank God there are enough Republicans out there that will support her, so that the reasonable ones will not be enough to sink Obama,

But wouldn't it be the perfect thing for Granny Sarah Grizzly to run for president, and win, just to prove all these Republican pundits and herself correct.....then just quit because it's the worst job imaginable! It's win win for everyone!!

When Ms Coulter opens her mouth, it is like someone has cracked foul eggs and she tries to sell the stench by describing it as the world's finest perfume. Is she a cynic, a demagogue, or just deranged? According to what she utters, I go with all of the above!

“She is a big star. She’s virtually the biggest thing on the planet.” - are you KIDDING me? only Ann would make such a ridiculous comment. She wouldnt run for president but yet she is the first one to run her mouth about what the pres is doing wrong - like she could do a better job..lol. It only stands to reason that someone like her would think that palin hung the moon.. shes just like her.

Coulter misunderstands Sarah Palin's motivation. She assumes that Palin is about power, celebrity and money, and that executive public office with its often mundane preoccupations is beneath her. She could not be more wrong.
