(CNN)- On August 6, Texas Gov. Rick Perry wants you to drop the Texas BBQ, grab a moist towelette and fold your hands to pray. On Monday, Perry declared the date a “day of prayer and fasting for our nation’s challenges.”
"America is in crisis, " the Republican governor says on a website promoting the event. "We have been besieged by financial debt terrorism, and a multitude of natural disasters."

just have to love it when people like Perry try to wrap themselves in religion along with the American flag. Too bad there are so many people here in the red state of Texas that still fall for it.
Perry just proved why he and the rest of the Republican Tea Party are completely unsuitable as leaders of a free nation.

What exactly is financial debt terrorism? What we have been besiged with is a multitude of ignorant opportunists in public life who run for office in order to line their own pockets. What we need is better public education in order to undermine ther rise of extremists who will lead this county astray.
All the unprecedented besiege is the direct net result of the past thirty years, of GOP thugs like Bush, and Reagan.And their Corporate America's greedy policies, and bribery of Iraq war, and Halliburton stuff.....Idiot, don't you know this truth.....what an idiot this nasty thug is.....shame America, you are electing these thugs...even third world will never elect these animals....into office....just vote any Democrat....period....Obama2012.....

Thanks Guv, we will all be sure and make a note of that. Only problem is, most of us pray every day, and there are
already people who are "involuntarily fasting", so why don't you use some of that $10,000/mo rent we pay for
your housing and have a BBQ for those who could use a good meal. I'm "prayin'" that you will run for
President so we can have a knock out "two birds with one stone" scenario.

Hopefully, Perry is leading the Texas GOP in prayer for the sick, the homeless, the gay, the ill, the downtrodden, etc., because if the GOP has their way, the only thing those groups will have is prayer.
He should fast for the next year...and while fasting, he should read the Constitution...there is a small bit about separation of Church and State he should familiarize himself with!

Amazing, this one day of prayer and fasting, that hasn't happened within Perry's 3 terms as governor and in an election year. The writing on the wall says Perry will be someone's VP thus validating himself among the religious right. I wish this had been Obama, that way the right would be able to see this for what it really is. Let it be a GOP and even Jesus couldn't make them see the real reasons.
