Official: "Blip" in economy not altering Obama strategy

WASHINGTON (CNN)– The economic recovery may not be moving a fast as some had expected, but despite a slowdown in gains, President Obama has no plans to change his economic strategy or to add more road trips and ramp up his public message, according to a senior administration official.

"What he says isn't going to change," stressed the official.

Recovery doesn't happen overnight," said the official, who added that one disappointing report doesn't indicate a trend.

It appears to not happen in 3 YEARS either! And I'm sure another year will only bring more disaster as Obama appears to be doubling down on stupidity and cluelessness.

At this point only the useful idiot college kids he keeps addressing appear to believe in this dunce anymore. Not sure why since many of them won't have jobs either when they graduate. Oh yeah, and your future share of the government debt is $500,000 on top your student loans. Just keep clicking your heels and saying "Hope & Change" and it'll all be good.

Psaki said the admnistration's strategy of investing in education, clean energy and research and development needs time to pay off.

If Obama is banking on a recovery based on education, clean energy and R&D, he had better be satisfied watching it from his home back in Chicago because education and R&D take on the order of a decade to make a difference in jobs and clean energy is about 1% of the economy. Is this where he wants to focus efforts right now?!?! I think the people who are out of work expect more from the Federal Government than," Wait a decade."

Government policy can only do so much to affect the economy, especially to improve it. But the quick things the federal government can do are with lower taxes, reasonable regulation and trade agreements. I know at least in the first two instances all of the administration's talk recently has been to raise taxes and to increase regulation. He just needs to now find a Chief Economic Advisor who will tell him these things are okay. Good luck with that.

I think the President should immediately quit because why wait to go down with the ship (don't really mean this).
That being said, it took that idiot #43 eight years to flush us down the toilet. President Obama is trying to remedy this huge problem as best he can. Unfortunately, the rethugs and some democrats in congress are not about to give him credit.
The rich are not going to add jobs (already proven in the last ten years) and the BIG corporations (the sotus puppets) are making sure the rethugs' plan goes according to what they want. Then again, didn't the tea bagging crowd run on JOBS, JOBS and more JOB creation?

STRATEGY??? STRATEGY??? HOLD THE PRESSES!! Obama has a Strategy!!! We're all saved!!! The strategy is clean energy, R&D and education??? Wait a minute, that sounds like SPENDING!! Yes! Obama has a strategy to keep SPENDING UNTIL WE SPEND OUR WAY TO PROSPERITY! Wait a minute... We've been doing that for 3 YEARS, are deeper in debt and are still unemployed. We are soooo screwed.

Strategy? Since when is sitting around waiting for things to improve, and doing nothing to help out, a strategy?

The recent numbers, high gas and food prices are all based on outside things and have nothing to do with Obama's policy. The GOP and their scheme of cutting the budget, has added workers from the working to the unemployed category, had this been from what they said it was, no problem. But when you waive the PD and FD because they donate heavily to the GOP, a fraud that no GOP poster here will admit. Listening to FOX and talk radio only tells you one side, the truth is, this is nothing more that political, and nothing to do with cutting the budget, especially since you immediately gave a tax cut. The gas prices are all from speculators. Notice how once it was mentioned that the justice dept. was going after them, the prices have miraculously started falling. If you take credit for the cuts for the numbers in April, then you have to blame the cuts for the low numbers in May.

    Oh please.
The best ideas in the world when blocked for greedy and spiteful reasons do not have a chance at REAL implementation.
The INCREDIBLE opposition this President has faced from day one from the GObP, and even some in his Party who felt their campaign contributions threatened by the way he faced Big Biz head on on our behalf is unprecedented.
Governors playing footsies and spitefully holding on to stimulus funds as opposed to putting them to good use to help their states recover abounded. Do you NOT think that the Koch brothers, and many Rethugs were telling their Big Business patrons to hold off on assisting with the recovery? Come on? Where are the JOBS they promised us they could get? If they can't get us jobs because it behooves their buddies to continue to get the tax breaks for keeping them abroad, do you really think they could tackle FIXING A GLOBAL ECONOMY?
These Rethugs are chumps, small-time cons, and charlatans. And those that continue to vote them into office hoping they didn't mean us 'no harm' or that they've suddenly found their sense of civic duty, remorse and decency are incredibly stupid.
    Period.

I remeber how as soon as GW took office, the recession at the end of Clinton's office was GW's. Such hipocrits. If you want to save social Security and Medicare raise payroll taxes. If you want mor infrastructure raise gas taxes for roads and raise taxes on public transportation to pay for it. The top 5 % already pay 40 % of the income taxes. And as far as fighting a war, that is thee one thing other than a common monitary system that is Constitutional, all the others are entitlements. Todays seniors get more money from social security and medicare than they paid in taxes, is that fair. NO!

Let's face it people... Obama NEVER had a "strategy". Reid and Pelosi led him around by the nose for the first 2 years. Obama took the lead on NOTHING.

Right now the only detectable "strategy" for Obama is one of early retirement. To think we will have to pay to support and protect this buffoon for the next 40-50 years is enough to make me sick.

I know many people that got laid off and found jobs. It was because they looked for them and refused to sit on unemployment for 2 years. I know others that happily took the 2 year paid government vacation. Again, Obama and the Democrats got more of what they rewarded, unemployment. Stupid is as stupid does.

Yeah, Obama faced big business head on by throwing money at them. And they prosper. Who is living well now? Wall Street bankers. Union bosses. Washington bureaucrats. Everyone else needs to tighten their belts. Why do you support this kind of activity? What has he done for Main Street besides extending their unemployment and raising their share of the national debt?

Obama is Jimmy Carter 2.0. Obama is a one term President. This administration is an unmitigated disaster. IF this was the plan then we are in deep trouble.

Keep in mind that unempolyment was 7.8% when he took office and was over 10% two and a half years later. Obama inherited 7.5%, which is 9.1% now. GDP averaged 0.57% over Reagan's first nine quarters in office vs. 1.56% for Obama. Obama has had 15 straight months of private sector job growth, Reagan had nothing near that. Obama has had 7 straight quarters of positive GDP growth, Reagan did not have trhee consecutive months by this point in his Presidency.

The situation Obama inherited was much worse than the one Reagan inherited and Obama is doing much better. So, was Reagan a bad President, an idiot, a fool? Or is Obama a great President? A genius?
