Manchester, New Hampshire (CNN) – We're learning a bit more about where Newt Gingrich will be over the next week.
An aide close to the former House speaker and Republican presidential candidate tells CNN that Gingrich will still speak Thursday at the Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans, which runs Thursday through Saturday. Many of the GOP presidential candidates and potential candidates are scheduled to speak at the event, which will also hold a presidential nomination straw poll.
Washington (CNN) – At least seven members of Newt Gingrich's senior campaign staff resigned Thursday, sources told CNN, but the Republican presidential candidate pledged he would start his campaign "anew."
In addition, one of his national campaign co-chairs defected Thursday to former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty's presidential campaign, according to a Pawlenty campaign release. Former Gov. Sonny Perdue of Gingrich's home state of Georgia moved over to the competing campaign.
Washington (CNN) – Following the resignations of most of his senior staff and questions about whether he had the commitment to mount a full presidential campaign, Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich told supporters Friday he knows what the effort will take and is committed to enduring the rigors in order to get his message out.
"As someone who has been in public life for nearly forty years, I know full well the rigors of campaigning for public office. I will endure them. I will carry the message of American renewal to every part of this great land, whatever it takes," Gingrich said in a message emailed to supporters and posted on his Facebook page Friday.
