(CNN) - Former Ambassador to China Jon Huntsman will formally announce his bid for the presidency next week at Liberty State Park in New Jersey, with the Statue of Liberty as the backdrop, a Republican source told CNN on Tuesday.
Huntsman was Utah's governor from 2005-2009 before President Barack Obama - the man Huntsman will be vying to unseat - appointed him to the top diplomatic post in Beijing. That service, as well as his break with GOP orthodoxy on issues like climate change and civil unions, are likely to be fodder for his rivals in the Republican primaries.
In fact, let's double down on this:
The phrase "middle-class" was not spoken by one of the GOPer candidates even once during last night's debate. Yet have we heard a single breath about this blatant ommission from the "liberal news media"? No. Not even once has it been mentioned. But when Obama "failed' to blather the buzzwords " American exceptionalism," which mean nothing more than "we think we're better than everyone else" (and seriously has no other meaning whatsoever), during the State of the Union, it was front page news. So where's the story on the the GOP not even once talking about the "middle-class" last night, CNN? Where's the endless cycle of bobblehead commentary on its implications? Where's the implicit condemnation of the ommission via endless reminders that the GOP failed to even once mention the "middle-class"?
Personally, I have NO respect for this guy. I hope him and Romney get beaten REAL BAD.
Doesn't this man understand that he doesn't share conservative values with those who is asking to send him and represent them. Or is he utilising his time since there is nothing to keep him busy!
Huntsman skipped the debate so as that he would not have to "be the beast" the party is looking for in their champion. It will be interesting to see how he manages to run from the base all the way to the nomination.
you want to bet the house on that comment? Sounds more like wishful thinking than anything else.
