Gingrich says media is on the attack

(CNN) - Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich Wednesday fumed over an ABC News report released Tuesday, which said the GOP presidential candidate had come "dangerously close" to crossing ethical lines by allowing cash to flow between his charity and one of his for-profit businesses.

Speaking on the Neal Boortz Radio Show Wednesday morning, Gingrich denied any misconduct, saying the report was a "falsehood" and the "elite media" was out to destroy him.

Gingrich's charity, Renewing American Leadership (ReAL), paid $220,000 over two years to Gingrich Communications, a for-profit business. But Gingrich released a statement Tuesday afternoon denying any wrongdoing.

"Despite all the innuendo in the ABC story, their team of journalists did not find any activity that was not fully supported by the law," the presidential candidate's Communications Director Joe DeSantis wrote in a statement.

Gingrich also said the news of his staff members' abrupt resignation last week had been "grossly exaggerated." All but one of the staff members had been outside consultants, he said, and they disagreed on the campaign's plan of action.

"The consultants wanted me to raise money to buy 30-second attack ads," Gingrich said. "I don't want to attack anybody except Obama."

He later added that he and his staff were simply "incompatible."

Newt has a record of playing fast and loose with election finance laws going back to his days as Speaker. When his non-profit, which is governed by a specific set of fund-raising rules, gives money to his for-profit business, it is automatically suspect. If it turns out the payments were legitimate, as opposed to "nobody was convicted so it's legal", then the media should back off. Otherwise, this is fair game.

His comments about his ex-staff are laughable. Newt's been in a foul mood lately; maybe Callista is demanding some new bauble?

It's funny how Republicans like to use the media to spread their false propaganda but when the media is talking about them it's not fair game. The difference between Newt and Palin complaints against the media is Palin uses the media instead of books to learn, Newt thinks he can out smart the media because he is book smart and doesn't need to learn anything.

Falsehood like you trying to pretend you didn't say that the ryan plan was a bad idea? Falsehoods like you lying to at least two of your wifes while cheating with others. You sound like the AK bimbo. That's really taking any credibility you might have down down.
So . . . . . . you didn't take a two week vacation in the Greek Islands and you don't have a half a million (sounds better, doesn't it) revolving jewelry account at Tiffany's? I know I, and most people I know, don't!

I don't like that either newter man. Not that those quotes are all over the internet and she can't take it back.

The mainstream media, like Fox and Limbaugh and Breitbart, have done nothing but go after President Obama since the day he was elected. They've been unearthing his background this whole time. How come the right seems to miss this fact. Oh, you mean Fox, Limbaugh and Breitbart aren't mainstream media? You mean only right wing extremists tune in these anti-American bloviators?

Sounds like he took a page from Sarah's handbook: "Blame the Media Whenever Caught in a Lie or Can't Give an Honest Answer".
Really Newt? That's all you got? I expected more from a man who has been around as long as you have. At least he is honest in that the only thing on the Republicans' minds this time is trying to discredit and oust President Obama. News Flash: "We the People" like President Obama!! And all this crap your spewing about how he can't get anything done – well we all know who has been standing in his way – that's right, Republicans. More specifically, the Tea Partiers, who the "Real" Republicans fear more than they do Obama.

Newt, how does it feel to be on the bottom side of the toilet seat? You worked for FOX and said and did everything you could to destroy President Obama and now that you are no longer "The Media", you have become the target. Feel good Newt? You think that you and your staff were simply "incompatible." I have a NEWS FLASH for you. You and the nation are "incompatible". As much as they dislike her, people have more respect for Sarah Palin than you because we understand that when she says stupid stuff it is because she simply doesn't know better while you say stupid stuff thinking the people aren't smart enough to see through your crap. Go write a book Newt.

Just exactly WHAT do you think our current president has done? Put your money where your mouth is.
Newt is using campaign contributions to support and fund his PRIVATE FOR PROFIT COMPANY, you moron.
So what exactly has our President done? As if there wouldn't be an investigation of him if there were any suspicions.
Get off your parent's computer, and move out of their basement already.

Ah, yes the old GOP mantra when the media uncovers some "inconvenient facts".

Such as how the salamander uses his non-profit to buy his books for their "charity work". Guess you can cut out the Koch brothers as middle men that way.

Of course, this is the same salamander that was kicked out of Congress on ethics issues about abusing political gain and non-profits.

I am also sure he is not currently cheating on Calista the bipedal cadaver, either.

Geez, when will the GOP realize that Newt is only tea bagging them!

Take a moment to just imagine what would be happening right now in the GOP and with the Teatrolls if the exact same limited facts regarding sketchy use of a sham charity to create a camping mailing list, perform no charitable acts and purchase books and DVDs were discovered about Obama. I'm pretty sure they'd go so ballistic that a couple of the older GOPers in Congress would have embolisms or fall on the floor in grand mal seizures. Newetered is finished. Kaput. Done. Through. Wipe him up with some Bounty and throw him out in the trash barrel for the stinky trash.

Oh Newt, Stop it! Quit trying to pull a "Palin."....The ONLY shred of respect that I had for you was because at least you had the guts to come on MSNBC or on the Sunday political talk shows (on networks other than FOX) and debate your views, no matter how insane they were. Now if you're going to start blaming the media for all of your ridiculousness I'm going to have to rescind that shred of respect.

"Newt is using campaign contributions to support and fund his PRIVATE FOR PROFIT COMPANY, you moron."

Wrong. Newtered created a 503(c) charitable corproation, which is only allowed to enjoy the charitable tax exemption it enjoys if it stays entirely out of the realm of politics and engages in no political activities whatsoever. That organization, per the law, has a stated specific charitable purpose and in order to be considered anythign but a sham, it has to engage in charitable non-political activities to fulfill that purpose. Here's what it did instead:

It spent 86% of its revenue creating a mailing list that indicated potential Newtered supporters, then handed it over to Newtered's campaign organizations WITHOUT BEING PAID FOR IT. That is a like-kind exchange is a blatant, black-letter campaign finance law violation.

It engaged in ZERO charitable activities that would fulfill its stated charitable purpose and therefore proves it is a sham.

It funneled money to Newtered by buying mass quantities of his books and DVDs from his other companies or campaign organizations.

And it funneled money to Newtered and his campaign by pretending to hire him and his organizations for "consulting" to the tune of $220,000. Consulting for what? What did they need consulting for if they were spending the vast majority of their time simply sending out feeler mail to find his potential supporters and develop his mailing list?

Newt believes in double standards. First, he feels it was justified for him to vilify Clinton for having an affair even though he was doing the same thing at that time. Now, he criticizes Obama for foolish spending while he runs up a $500,000 tab for jewelry, using campaign money no less. The only reason he resents the media is becasue they are reporting what he's doing. His campaign is toast, as is political future.

Point one: He is not that clever. Most of his stuff is self evident, pseudointellectual garbage.
His biggest problem is himself. Nobody would ever elect him to anything.
He is living a miserable lie.
He needs help, and nobody cares.
