Gingrich says media is on the attack

(CNN) - Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich Wednesday fumed over an ABC News report released Tuesday, which said the GOP presidential candidate had come "dangerously close" to crossing ethical lines by allowing cash to flow between his charity and one of his for-profit businesses.

Speaking on the Neal Boortz Radio Show Wednesday morning, Gingrich denied any misconduct, saying the report was a "falsehood" and the "elite media" was out to destroy him.

Gingrich's charity, Renewing American Leadership (ReAL), paid $220,000 over two years to Gingrich Communications, a for-profit business. But Gingrich released a statement Tuesday afternoon denying any wrongdoing.

"Despite all the innuendo in the ABC story, their team of journalists did not find any activity that was not fully supported by the law," the presidential candidate's Communications Director Joe DeSantis wrote in a statement.

Gingrich also said the news of his staff members' abrupt resignation last week had been "grossly exaggerated." All but one of the staff members had been outside consultants, he said, and they disagreed on the campaign's plan of action.

"The consultants wanted me to raise money to buy 30-second attack ads," Gingrich said. "I don't want to attack anybody except Obama."

He later added that he and his staff were simply "incompatible."

– CNN Political Producer Shannon Travis contributed to this report.

Speaker Gingrich, I am a member of the board of the CLEAR LAKE TEA PARTY, in Clear Lake Texas, just south of Houston. We are having our annual rally in October and would like to invite you to attend as a featured speaker. This event should draw national media attention and will give the great folks of Texas an opportunity to meet you up close and personnel. We have invited some of the other Presidential candidates and have gotten some positive feedback. We have also invited Governor Rick Perry to speak. Your consideration for attending this event would be appreciated. Please respond through our web site at http://www.clearlaketeaparty.com Thanks in advance for your time and consideration. jb

Newt, the Republican Congress, the Republican candidates . . . Their common goal is to derail President Obama's administrstion through constant obstructionist tactics and baldfaced lies. They should all be charged with treason for what they arebdoing to our country.
