(CNN) - Top fundraisers for Republican Newt Gingrich's presidential campaign resigned Tuesday, the campaign confirmed to CNN.
Fundraising director Jody Thomas and fundraising consultant Mary Heitman left the team. The two defections follow 16 resignations earlier in the month when top aides stepped down over disagreements with the former House Speaker.
Gingrich press secretary RC Hammond said the campaign will continue.
"Newt 2012 continues its reorganization to achieve a grassroots driven substantive solutions orientated campaign," Hammond told CNN. "We wish the members of the finance team who decided to leave the best. The campaign continues forward as committed as ever."

That's it. Without the money coming in, this campaign has been "Newt"-ered. Now it is up to the remaining clowns in the Grand Old ("The best Government money can buy") Party to provide political theater for the rest of the year.

I know it is inappropriate to take pleasure in another's misfortunes, but I may have to make an exception in Newt's case. This guy has done so much damage to so many over the years, and this is a cosmic example of what has gone around finally coming around. I especially enjoy his spin on these developments. I imagine Bill Clinton is loving this soap opera as well.
