Ron Paul worries Fort Knox gold is gone

WASHINGTON (CNNMoney) - With the price of gold at record highs, presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul wants to make sure the U.S. gold bars at Fort Knox are really there.

Paul, a Texas Republican who wants to convert the U.S. monetary system to one based on the gold standard, called a hearing on Thursday to grill federal officials from Treasury and the General Accounting Office about whether all the U.S.-owned gold is safe.

They had a documentary on one of those cable channels that showed congress men and women going into Fort Knox with cameras for the first time in decades.

Someone forgot to take his Namenda this morning. Oh well, every good GOP campaign needs a crazy brainfart conspiracy theory I suppose...can't get their tinfoil hat wearing base to pay attention otherwise.

The only thing that is gone is Ron Paul's mind. Time to retire.

Well, the cat's out of the bag – we now know for sure that Ron Paul is actually Lyndon LaRouche. I had a feeling it was the case for a while now, but this pretty much proves it.

We'd all be better off if he spent his time and media minutes chasing the REAL missing money – the $17 BILLION they can't find in Iraq - cash that our Bushites gave the tribal leaders and alleged "politicians" to put up with our fake war.
We could build a lot of schools and save a lot of distressed families with $17 BILLION – but it's likely in the hands of a handful of Blackwater cronies and Iraqi generals.

Yes, this man is definitely presidential timber. Has he sighted Sasquatch yet or communicated telepathically with extra-terrestrials? You can't make this stuff up.

  13. Thank God I am a Democrat

This guy is real Presidential material. How he was the only one to identify that our most pressing issue is if the count is accurate in Fort Knox is amasing. I am going to stick one of those Ron Paul for President signs in my front yard right away!

  14. Democrat Class Warfare - Destroying the economy, destroying the country

Once Obama and the Democrats destroy the value of our dollar with their insane spendingand printing of money, this gold will be important. If all we have to back up our currency is the governments ability to steal from our paychecks on a weekly basis, then we are in deep doo-doo.

Oh snap. Let's do that thing like for AL CAPONE. Let's get some cameras and a crew of really smart people to investigate. I don't know about that gold, but I know some U.S. revenue potential mysteriously dissappeared into the pockets of the wealthy as tax breaks and a good number of us think that tax break was a good idea. It will create jobs... Well it might...Haven't seen squat yet. Gold. Sheesh.

  18. Let's set the record straight

Paul doesn't want to convert us back to a gold standard. He wants to legalize competition in currencies by allowing gold and silver (which actually have value and can't be completely inflated away by Bernanke) to be legal tender and compete with the fiat dollar on the market. He just believes that gold will come out on top, which it likely would in such a situation, but competition will determine the victor.

If the gold is all there, there is nothing to hide. Congressmen should be able to see it–especially during an economic crisis. Let's not forget that it's the American citizens' gold–FDR stole it all during the Great Depression.
