Bachmann makes official 2012 presidential announcement

(CNN) – Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann formally announced her candidacy for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination Monday during an appearance in Waterloo, Iowa - the city where she was born.

Bachmann, a Tea Party favorite currently serving her third term in the House, told a crowd of supporters that Barack Obama's presidency has been a failure. She promised to lead a new conservative revolution characterized by smaller government and a lower federal debt.

She sounds like she really wants to be president– of Iowa. Could she kiss up to Iowa, anymore? Reminds me of Rudy 08, in Florida... And can these Republicans please stop with this "Take our country back" garbage? As a supporter of the president, or even as a liberal, I feel so offended. As if the MAJORITY, that voted Obama in, stole the election and therefore the country. Bachmann has no chance of convincing the majority of Americans to choose her in a general election. She proves two things: 1) There are way too many Republicans that still support Bush style "governing", since they support her and she'd be Bush if you throw a cowboy hat on her. And, boy, do we not need anymore 'cowboy' diplomacy. 2) She proves that Republicans are more concerned with criticizing Obama, than helping the American people. In her first 2012 debate she said, "This election ought to be about jobs." But I thought 2010 was about jobs... The recession ended and the GOP has NO JOBS PLAN. Period.

The bottom line. Bachman is not the one, whether she win or lose. Everyone will lose.

Hey, wait a minute, didn't this woman have an anti-government tea party rally on the steps of the Capitol building about a year ago? I don't understand what she's doing as a representative in a government she so hates, let alone wanting to be President of it.

I think it is great that yesterday on the the morning shows she was asked about cutting the deficit and if she would be willing to cut Farm subsidies...her response was that Obama is spending abotu 73% more on limousine services for politicians...ok $5M to protect your job as a politician vs. BILLIONSSS for farmers - again asked about farm subsidies and her reponse was in regards to something else...Dodged the question again and again...

The Christian Crusaders of the Republican Party (Pence, Bachmann, et al) who want to spread their "prosperity Gospel" through legislation should realize that we are not looking for a religious leader when we choose a President. These people see no down side to a theocracy. But I do. I don't want any part of their religious agenda, their "Big Religion Takeover of Government."

She'd be a heck of a lot better than the buffoon we have in there now. He's totally clueless and the bigest non-leader this country has ever seen. Who in their right mind would come up with "lead from behind"??? That is called NON-LEADERSHIP Mr. I-Vote-Present!!!

  9. Really??

Bachman, Obama, Palin, Pawlenty.......this is the best we can do as president or presidential candidates? I would rather vote for Adam Sandler, at least we know he is just doing things to make us laugh other than just assume that what is being done by the politicians is just for jokes.

Michelle Bachman can win if she plays all her cards ritght. One thing she should do is stay away from "Chris Wallace" he should be FIRED for the remark he made to Michelle Bachman. I don't think Michelle Bachman is going to be talking to Chris Wallace in the near future. There's is nothing he can say or do to make things right with Michelle Bachman. Chris Wallace can't hold a candle to Michelle Bachman. Michelle Bachman should be taken very seriously, this woman is very smart and she know all the politician tricks. I believe that "Fox News" will support her bid for the Presidency. If Fox News was smart they would either FIRE hm or keep him as far away from Michelle Bachman as they can. In Michelle Bachman's eyes Chris Wallace is the ENEMY. As Michael Corleone once said "Keep your friends close and your enemies even closer" Michelle Bachman is going to keep Chris Wallace very close.

  16. Republicans - The "Not Intended To Be Factually Accurate" - Party

My fellow Americans, peel back the onion; it has a lot of layers. For example, Ms. Bachman –

A Democrat, Bill Clinton ran the LARGEST budget surpluses in our country's history, $230B in 2000. That was an annomoly though, the year before [1999] that, he ran a $122B surplus. So let's assume we could run a $143B surplus. At that rate, it would take us 100 YEARS to pay off the National Debt that has mostly been the result of Republican Administrations.

Tell me how you could deliver even a modest SURPLUS as President? You or any of your Republican bretheren? I want specifics – – Ms. Tax Attorney. I won't hire any of you guys on some weak, unsubstantiated, trust-me, I-can-do-this, promise.

If you are a defender of Reagan's Voodoo economics – – his "trickle down" economics; if you are a defender of "Tax cuts for 'Job Creators' boosts the economy", then I'm sorry, YOU ARE NOT QAUALIFED to be Chief Executive of America - which is a "Non-Profit" corporation.

The fact that the tea party is allowing her $30,000 business take from various govt stimululus programs, to remain under the radar, proves how dishonest both she and the Bagger movement are. She shouldn't be allowed to continue on, if she is supposed to campaign under the small govt banner.

Perhaps Mrs. Bachmanns' run for president will shine a bit more light on just what the Tea Party is all about. Some might argue the Tea type are merely warmed over Dixiecrats.

Talk all day long. Obama's re-election will be based on the economy and independants. Its going to be a close race for him in 2012. Any one that thinks otherwise is a fool. Really, list me anything good that the President has done with the economy. He has done nothing but spend. Bush did the same junk in his 2nd term.
