(CNN) – Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann formally announced her candidacy for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination Monday during an appearance in Waterloo, Iowa - the city where she was born.
Bachmann, a Tea Party favorite currently serving her third term in the House, told a crowd of supporters that Barack Obama's presidency has been a failure. She promised to lead a new conservative revolution characterized by smaller government and a lower federal debt.
Did they have medics standing by to attend to those who couldn't stop laughing. But then we have republicans who vote for candidates like this, so republican dumb factor is going up further each day.
I'll vote for her and palin just so this sytem will collapse sooner rather than later!!!!
But who is she gonna pick as her running mate? Turner or Overdrive??? WE NEED TO KNOW!!!
What is with the Republican party and women of below avergae ability?
Maybe the constitutional requirements should be amended to " 4th requirement is you need brains and logical/analytical powers to apply for the presidency".
Mystical Michelle and Simple Sarah for Co-Presidents 2012. Dumb Donald for VP.
Ahhhhhhh, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!! This is the the best day EVER!!!! Michelle for Holy American Emperor. Scary part is that she actually holds a law degree. obviously revisionist history was a prerequesite at ORU. I wonder is anyone has actually put it to her how she enjoyed her Government Subsidy $ for her farm. Maybe I can put that bug in Romney's ear for when she calls him the grandfather of modern day healthcare reform. This should be good. GOP cat fight everyone after 3rd period near the gym!!!!
Great, the Tea Party is going to drag the Republican Party away from the mainstream and into the weeds.
Why don't we just let Obama stay in office after 2012 without holding the election, save ourselves the embarrasment of watching yet another debacle. Call it Obama by default in 2012.
God knows, I'd rather cut my arm off than vote for any ticket with Bachmann on it...
Amercican will kick out of presdient obama 2012
A Libertarian is not someone who would promote Social Policy based on their Religeous Beliefs. The Tea Party, which is really a front for, The right to Life Movement, is thefore fraudulant, and I won't be drinking any of their kool aid, or voting for any of their candidates. Doug.
There is probably no one who personifies the complete vapid depravity of the republican party in 2011 than this evil, mean spirited fanatical shrew of a women...I hope she gets the nomination.
Any candidate who uses the word "God" and "faith" and quotes holy scripture is an instant turn off. Sorry Bachman, you lost my vote. This is the United States of America where the Constitution is the law of the land; not the Bible.
As a citizen of the state of Iowa, this woman offends my intelligence!
Personally, I think this is the best thing for the Democrats. To have the GOP connected firmly to these (almost) certifiable wack jobs is the best thing to happen to the Obama reelection campaign yet.
Yeah she has a chance. Who would be her running mate- Christine from DL?
she's ready to fight for SOME of America! but if you disagree on her social issues? forget about it!
Why oh why can't the Republicans find a decent moderate for me to vote for? I'm going to really hate having to vote for Obama again.
Bachmann needs remedial education on history, english, foreign countries, and the difference between truth and lies.
She is not credible, an embarrassment for educated women who run for and do a great job in office, and just an evangelical nutjob. Another giant loser for Republicans. What is it about the Republican Party that attracts lunatics?
Well, she will be entertaining, she will dilute the crazy vote which makes it less likely that one of the more crazy Republicans gets the nomination. She'll spend money to make money and her book and paid speaking engagements about how America is declining will be out shortly after she is out of the race. For her it's a win win situation, she knows she'll be rich rich rich like many crazy Preachers are by tapping into ignorance, fear and patriotism. It's the American Way.
RE: "Who is Michele Bachmann" video on the cnn website. It was a blatant smear campaign against a Republican candidate. Seriously, what does "Saturday Night Live" have to do with Bachmann and her campaign? CNN's attempt to paint her as ignorant are reminiscent of when Sarah Palin was running for VP. I think the foundation of this bias is that liberals are scared to death that Republicans will be the first to have a successful female Presidential or VP candidate. Too bad Democrats kicked Hillary Clinton to the curb in 2008- perhaps she would have done a better job with our economy than Barack 'genius' Obama- who unfortunately took a bad economy and made it worse.
Wow! What news! After she told us repeatedly at the presidential debates that she was going to run she is finally announcing that she is running. Shocking! Stop the presses!
When the primary comes around, I'm voting Republican just so I can vote FOR Bachmann and then glory in it when she loses to Obama. She is such an appalling person. There are no words for this person. I am embarrassed that she is a woman. She's vain and without a stitch of intelligence in her empty head. yes, she is a flake.
Anyone who would even consider voting for Michelle Bachmann should have that right taken away. She wants the Constitution interpreted as a Christian religious document. She has no legislative accomplishments. She feeds hungrily at the Federal trough. The only reason we know of her is because of a ridiculously gerrymandered district that combines a series of small conservative enclaves into an undeserving Congressional district. She supported overruling the Constitution with the Patriot Act. Best of all, she makes stuff up to fit how she feels. She represents an unAmerican tendency among Christianists to twist and subsume the Constitution.
Translation of announcement: blame Obama for everything. I have no idea or plans to fix anything, but surely I can win just by blaming everything on the president.
Guess what: democrats tried that same strategy in 2004. No ideas, just badmouthing. Guess how well that turned out!
Can't republicans come up with somebody with brains for a change?
Yet another candidate more qualified than Obama to be president.
