RNC to Obama: You're taking the country off a cliff

(CNN) - A new ad from the Republican National Committee Wednesday blames President Obama's "left turn after left turn" for the current state of the economy.

The 30-second spot will air nationally on cable television, notably in battleground states, throughout the month. It uses a crashing car metaphor to make the case for a Republican president in 2012.

"America's headed the wrong way fast - six million foreclosures, 14 trillion in debt, 500 billion in higher taxes and the worst long-term unemployment in generations," the ad says. "Don't let Obama drive us to disaster, change direction."

RNC Chairman Reince Priebus said his organization "intends to challenge Barack Obama in every state on his failed economic leadership right up until Election Day."

"Republicans have already changed the conversation in Washington, but with the President unwilling to remove the country from its unsustainable course, it's time to change direction," Priebus said in a statement.

Brad Woodhouse, communications director for the Democratic National Committee, said Republicans are trying to "mislead voters about the state of the economy."

"While the President continues to fight to clean up an economic mess that was years in the making, Republicans would rather run negative ads than offer positive ideas," Woodhouse said in a statement.

All I can say is that if the Republicans win the next election and things get worse (and they very well may) it'll be years before they win another election. If they win they will only have a few months in which to get the federal budget under control, everyone back to work, and perpetual sunshine for everyone. If they can't they should be prepared to see the same slamming commercials about themselves. Personally, I don't think they can do it if they don't do something about corporte America sending all those jobs to China.

What got us into this mess? People like you did, with your insistence on inaction, paying for wars off the books, and tax cuts that did nothing for the average person. The truth hurts, doesn't it?

The stock market is up significantly since Obama was elected. That means corporate profits are up.

IF corporations WERE paying people more with some of those profits, workers & their families finances would be stronger. GDP would be growing more. The economic recovery would be stronger as would jobs. Corporations ARE NOT doing this.

Tell me GOPTP'ers, exactly HOW is President Obama responsible for corporations - which are more profitable than they've ever been - paying CEOs record salaries & bonuses while the average worker wage sinks lower & lower?

Obama is hardly the cause of the problem. We obviously need governmental means to force corporations to flow a portion of profits into increased wages. If the vehicle for that is HIGHER corporate taxes while lowering tax rates for people earning under $100,000, so be it.

I love how liberals always try to deflect. Conservatives were so livid about Bush (especially his second term) increasing the size of government and out of control spending, that when McCain showed up to be the "hope", it sucked the air right out of us. Now, seeing how Obama is running up the credit card even FASTER than Bush did, we are ready to rid this country of the liberal plague! Rick Perry has "created" more jobs than Obama, and in the state of Texas alone! Look at California...see how well liberal fiscal policies work? How many IOUs is CA still handing out?

If Americans want to see who is behind the wheel in cliff diving, take a good long look at what is happening in Minnesota. You cannot run a government without revenue. Shutting down the government or defaulting on obligations will only cause the economy to go into free fall, which may be what the GOP is willing to do in order to discredit the President and get back into the White Hous.

Those g bush tax cuts were supposed to be temporary till the end ol 2010. What don't the repugs understand about temporary? Those tax cuts should have been allowed to expire! They were only temporary, remember? 

Only the most far leftist marxist would think that Obama is doing a good job and should be reelected. All the economic indicators are getting worse since he took office and will be in the toilet during the next election cycle. Three years later and still blaming "8 years of Bush". Yime to get over that, he has had 3 years t fix whatever was wrong. Jobs will not be created under a man who has NEVER worked a day in his life and does not know what it takes to create jobs and stimulus business. His version of "stimulus" sunk us deeper into debt and cost over $250,000.00 per job. Bad return on our "investment".

    @ Joanna

Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, that's all the Liberals can talk about. They can't talk about Obama' economic successes, he has none. Instead, Obama has given up a huge debt to pay.
    ___________________________________________________________________________________________

He stopped the freefall you people put us in. I would count that as a success. Where are the jobs your people promised us, or are you still waiting for the Bush tax Cuts to kick in, you know the ones that were brought out in 2003, and were supposed to send us ploughing full speed ahead for years? You know, the ones you insisted be extended even though the country is drowning in debt for trying to revive the mess your side created and won't take responsibility for? We're waiting.......

Bush inherited a recession from Clinton and his tax breaks plus leaving well enough alone brought us out of it. This while facing 9/11. All Obama and you drones do is blame Bush. Let's see, who was in charge of Congress from 2006 until last year – the Dems. Now, for a quick Civics lesson for you Libs – who passes the budget? If you answered the President, you are wrong – it's Congress. You Libs need to read some history books and think for yourself instead of getting your news from the Daily Show and Sesame Street.
    ___________________________________________

Who signed those budgets into law? Bush did. If he objected to it , why did he not veto it? Who cut taxes in wartime, expanded the government, and funded his wars off the books? Bush did. The only thing he did not do was try to sell weapons to al-Queda. As for the Civics/History lesson, try reading something other than the intellectual babyfood you've been slurping down.

No - the republicans drove us off the cliff and President Obama gave us a parachute -– guess what -– the far right-wing extremists are now shooting holes in the parachute.

Oh well, when the stock markets crash I guess it will be republicans and democrats that take the hit - probably a higher percentage republicans (since they have been rat-holing all the money for the last 10 or 11 years).

'Bush inherited a recession from Clinton'
oh please. Any 'official' recognition of a recession was Mar 2001. What Bush inherited was a slowing down, what Obama inherited was a plummet.

Hey Joanna, " Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush ".
Yes, this is all a result of the Bush administration, and, until idiots like you can accept that there is no hope for the republicans.
They created this whole situation and have done NOTHING to rectify it. Too bad you have such a headache over there being a 1/2 black man in office, but you had better get a large supply of ASA in the house because he is going to be there another 4 years after 2012.

Keep doing what you are doing GOP. They can do this because of a fickle public. America used to know what the GOP left over after Bush left office and it only took two years for the public to vote them back into power in the house. The smartest people are not the general public but politicians. The public sucks up that non-sense from either side when it is election time. The GOP makes no secret who they represent and what they want. Its like they had nothing to do with any of the problems facing the country today and yet if they don't get the presidency they will at least get power in the senate also because of the general voting population. We the public signs off of this crap and yet we keep career polititions in office who created this mess. Maybe we are choosing the lesser of two evils at that moment in the voting booth.

Last time I checked, we were actually going in the opposit direction from when bush left office...Let's See:
    – Not losing jobs anymore, but gaining jobs (Slowly, but better than losing)
    – Not in a recession anymore.
    – Market is picking up
    – Bailed out companies are bouncing back (FORD for example)
    – Killed Osama!!!!! (now we can get out of Afgan to stop spending)
    – Leaving Iraq

Okay, Our debt has sky rocketted, but thats because Repub obstructing the pres from eliminating the last thorn of the Bush tax cuts ( to create more revenue to pay down the debt Bush started...)

Republicans 'misleading voters about the economy'?? Now THAT'S never happened before, has it! This next election will demonstrate definitively whether least-common-denominator advertising wins elections. If indeed it does then this country's legacy won't be that of a Noble Democratic Experiment; it will be a monument to ignorance!

If we take all the money from the rich and give it to the poor, all of our problems will be solved. I say confiscate all the property from the greedy rich like Gates and Buffet. That money needs to go to support our welfare system. I'm sure the rich will keep working to make more money for us to take. It is the perfect system. Join us comrades.
