(CNN) - Bill Burton, senior strategist for Democratic super PAC Priorities USA, took to Twitter Thursday to deliver a swipe at Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann.
"If leading GOP candidate in IA says she would let the nation default – shouldn't the news be bigger than simply the size of her ad buy?" Burton, President Obama's former deputy White House press secretary, tweeted.
Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota released her first ad of the 2012 election cycle in Iowa Thursday, in which she vowed to vote against an increase to the debt ceiling. Iowa holds the first-in-the-nation presidential caucuses, scheduled for February.
"I fought against the wasteful bailout, against the stimulus. I will not vote to increase the debt ceiling," Bachmann said in the ad.
President Obama and Congressional leaders are embroiled in negotiations over an agreement to raise the debt ceiling before August 2, to avoid a potential default.
Priorities USA, which launched in April to compete with outside Republican groups in the 2012 election, went up with their own ad last week accusing Republicans of opposing "economic reforms at every turn."
"We can't rebuild America if they tear down the middle class," the ad said.

America borrows 32 cents of every dollar it spends. To pay for 100% of ANYTHING NEW after August 2 will require BORROWING beyond the current $14.3T limit. How hard is it to understand that? Now mind you, this lady claims to be a TAX ATTORNEY. OMG

When a GOP candidate says "Let the nation default" to protect the interests of the mega rich only, she would become the puppet for the mega mega rich. The stimulus helped people keep their jobs and get out from under. That means that she has voted against anything and everything that might help the little people. What kind of car does she drive? If it hadn't been for some of those bailouts, including her rich friends, never mind the car companies more jobs would have been lost.

You have to admit, she was correct on the first 2 calls. I think in the current economic environment with so many Americans cutting back to bare necessities, for the Obama Administration to back the country up against a wall financially blowing by a debt ceiling that he himself put in place, it is kind of a slap in the face of the American taxpayer. If that wasn't enough, he at first claimed he wouldn't even put up with tying it to spending cuts and now he is trying to use it as an excuse to raise taxes. Michele Bachman isn't that far off with her vote. Obama is fortunate that the Republicans are cooperating so well to raise the credit limit. They have been trying to get spending in control against strong opposition for 2 years.

Economic imbecile? Really? This after we had a president who cut taxes, increased spending in wartime, expanded prescription drug benefits and then could not/would not fund it? The man who did wars off the books? Also, did you look at the GOP Congress of 1994-2006? They were blameless, while Phil Gramm erased the distinctions between commercial and savings banks, setting the stage for the free-for-all with the banking industry gambling with people's 401K's? Your side believed in inaction, and we are paying the price for deliberate, cynical inaction on the federal, state, and local level. The GOP kicked the can down the road with tax cuts and foisting responsibilities onto the states and local governments that forced them to raise taxes as well.
She and her family get more in subsidies and paymets for foster kids every year than most people on social security get.
