Bristol Palin optimistic about mom's 2012 run

(CNN) – Bristol Palin talked politics with Jay Leno Thursday, saying Sarah Palin's mid-term resignation as Alaska governor won't hurt her chances of running for president.

The 20-year-old said her mom stepped down in 2009 in response to a surge of lawsuits.

"It was just costing the state tons of money and us personally tons of money, and she just wasn't able to do her job with those lawsuits being filed," Bristol said.

Leno, however, pointed out that lawsuits against governors are "part of the job" in state politics.

"Not to the magnitude that she was getting," Bristol said. "She just wanted to put her state first."

The former Alaska governor was the subject of multiple ethics complaints, including an investigation that her staff allegedly pressured a public official to fire a state trooper who had been through a messy divorce with Palin's sister.

When Palin resigned in July 2009, she said she had already decided against running for re-election and felt that her time as a lame-duck governor would be wasteful for the state.

In another media appearance, Bristol told HLN's Dr. Drew Pinsky in an hour long special to air this coming Thursday that she "definitely" agrees her mom could win.

"I think she's so smart, and I think she can debate anyone and do very well," Bristol said.

When asked if Bristol hopes her mom doesn't make it to the White House–given the added media attention–Bristol said, "no."

"I think that people are going to be talking about my family and her and everyone else, uh, no matter what we're doing," Bristol said.

This summer Palin has visited crucial voting states such as Iowa and New Hampshire, but she has yet to announce a decision on whether she'll join the 10-member field of GOP presidential hopefuls.

But, according to Palin, Bristol has already weighed in on her mom's 2012 decision.

"I think Bristol has made up her mind, and Bristol wants me to run for president," Palin said in a recent interview with Newsweek. "But we're still thinking about it. I'm still thinking about it."

This hole family have lost there mind. And why would any body want to have Bristol Palin on there TV SHOW. Is Jay Leno show getting this hard Up. Well Bristol you ever think If your mom didn't do any thing wrong she wouldn't have all them Lawsuits against her. And you are nuts If you don't think the Lawsuits won't hurt her If she run. The state of Alaska and the People wouldn't have file all these Lawsuits If she didn't do something that was wrong. Even If she didn't have all the Lawsuits against her she till wouldn't win. she Unqualified for one thing and she a QUITTER, and she a IDIOT just like the Rest of the Family.

This story is just a distraction thrown up by CNN to help deflect from its lord and savior, Barack Hussien Obama.

Mr. Obama will not agree to a debt deal because what is happening is exactly what he, as a follower of Alynsky, wants to happen. By destroying the economy Mr. Obama clears the way for a Marxist dictatorship. There will be no debt deal.

Sad that Bristol does not realize what a lousy job her mother did as governor. Sarah used the lawsuits as an excuse for getting out of a job she hated. Sarah is not qualified to hold office; not only that, but she could not take the criticism and scrutiny that she would obviously create!

Let's be honest. Palin quit the Governorship in Alaska because their economy was starting to slide into the toilet and she didn't want to get stuck with the blame. That's probably the same reason Tim Pawlenty decided not to go for a third term in Minnesota, but at least he finished out his second term before quitting.

libtards are all upset with Obama because he delivered nothing he promised. libtards also will not admit this so they have to vent on Palin: the envy of feminists. She got out of Alaska because of all the ham sandwich lawsuits filed by leftists – note that they all were eventually dismissed. What fools you people are.

Let them make all the money they can grab from the stupid followers who ADORE them, but PLEASE, PLEASE, STOP flooding us with "news" about the Palins! All sarah palin is doing is testing the waters. This whole will she or won't she business is just her trying to avoid stepping up and being shot down by her party because she is a lost cause against obama. Instead she is seeing how much support she can get, if she gets enough she runs, if she doesn't get enough she says she won't run because she wants to focus on her family. When she says that then when the actual repub candidate loses the election she can stand up and say what she would've done different and call all their mistakes and look good as a result, thus prolonging the countries obsession with her and her family.

Why did your mom have so many lawsuits Bristol?

Bristol, you got it backwards. The lawsuits were filed because she wasn't doing her job. Every move she made in MY state was ethically questionable. Sorry, kiddo – your mother is a liar and a fraud.

Why in the world is Bristol Palin part of the political discourse, CNN? Why? What is she famous for? Much like her mother; absolutely nothing – besides having her virginity stolen in the romantic glow of a Chevy Nova’s dashboard light.
    Why CNN?

this ignorant girl from the sticks, is so bitter and nasty she's just a young version of her mother. The Palins are always fighting and feuding with someone. She accuses her boyfriend of rape, so she can make a buck selling a book, but continued for years to let him buy her expensive gifts. Is there anything this horrible family won't do for money. Haven't the ignorant people of America paid them enough, it's time for them to go away.
