Michele Bachmann officially leaves her church

Washington (CNN) - Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann has long been a darling of conservative evangelicals, but shortly before announcing her White House bid she officially quit a church she'd belonged to for years.

Bachmann, a Minnesota congresswoman, and her husband Marcus withdrew their membership from Salem Lutheran Church in Stillwater, Minnesota last month, according to church officials.

They haven't gone to church in two years?? All that christianity she can't stop talking about!!!
A real reporter (the enquirer seems to have better luck catching politicians in the act) should look into big boy marcus' clinic and this church.
No wonder she kept her husband under wraps. He confessed that "it's a remedy he typically uses". Too bad itndidn't work for him but atbleast he is righ thanks tonthe US government money, and I don 't mean hi wife's paycheck. Not that shenis working for her stuoid constituents at present anyway!

Meh. Strange, but not really big news. Let's talk more about the substance of her whacky ideological rantings and batsh-t policy positions. THAT is actually important.

Perhaps your correspondent was unaware that membership in most evangelical congregations is controlled by the communicant, not by the (a) hierarchy of the church. A person, for one of many reasons, might decide to withdraw from the fellowship of a particular local body–to unite with another body of the same denomination in another locality; to show disdain for a particular precept held by a body with which they disagree; or, to remove to another denomination entirely because they no longer agree with certain tenets or actions taken by a denomination.

In almost every such withdrawal, the individual will visit other churches/denominations until they are comfortable with the fellowship and it's affiliations, them they will unite with that new (different) body and continue their Christian "walk."

I am sure that Mr. and Ms. Bachmann are somewhere within that process and will unite with another church. That is probably the reason her response to the correspondent's assertion that he had spoken to "her pastor" was, "Which one?"

We ALL know what her church teaches hate, racism, distortion, rife, backstabbing and everything associated with how to get to hell. I think she was a member of the Satan Lutheran Church in Stillwater, Minnesota not Salem as mentioned. Just my thought.

Just goes to show that she's only using religion to her own benefit. Do not be fooled by these charlatans' on/off devoutness.

Why leave your church. Are you an atheist now? or there is a "Jeremiah Wright" in the church. Time will surely expose the reason.

Wouldn't you think that a real news organization would concentrate on real new instead of providing a platform for drug addled liberals to spout therir venom about conservative women? Guess it kind of proves who CNN's audience is doesn't it.

Too little too late. She's realizing that her evangelical zealousness is being construed as a liability.

So in the church she’s been attending for the better part of a decade, the Pope is the anti-Christ, eh? I guess its time to cover that Catholic demographic and ditch the all too revealing religious affiliation.

Dollar to a donut, given her screwy right-wing religion and politics, she’s also a believer in Dominionist Theology! But I doubt she's gonna share that with us.

Michelle bachman would be a great president and all you hateful liberals are plain scared of a woman who does not endorse killing babies – sticks up for traditional marriage – and stands up against the wicked satan Obama by not agreeing to any new taxes or raising our debt limits. You liberals are just soo stupid it makes people with common sense sick. You support wicked gay life styles , you promote killing babies, you need the government to take care of you because you are lazy dead beats that do nothing but attack the character of good people with your twisted lies and you expext hard working folks to be taxed to support your wicked liberal interests. Well do us all a favor and take the next plane or boat to Iran or Iraq....perhaps you would enjoy life better under Sharia law!
