Washington (CNN) - Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann has long been a darling of conservative evangelicals, but shortly before announcing her White House bid she officially quit a church she'd belonged to for years.
Bachmann, a Minnesota congresswoman, and her husband Marcus withdrew their membership from Salem Lutheran Church in Stillwater, Minnesota last month, according to church officials.

No wonder she kept her husband under wraps. He confessed that "it's a remedy he typically uses". Too bad itndidn't work for him but atbleast he is righ thanks tonthe US government money, and I don 't mean hi wife's paycheck. Not that shenis working for her stuoid constituents at present anyway!

Perhaps your correspondent was unaware that membership in most evangelical congregations is controlled by the communicant, not by the (a) hierarchy of the church. A person, for one of many reasons, might decide to withdraw from the fellowship of a particular local body–to unite with another body of the same denomination in another locality; to show disdain for a particular precept held by a body with which they disagree; or, to remove to another denomination entirely because they no longer agree with certain tenets or actions taken by a denomination.
In almost every such withdrawal, the individual will visit other churches/denominations until they are comfortable with the fellowship and it's affiliations, them they will unite with that new (different) body and continue their Christian "walk."
I am sure that Mr. and Ms. Bachmann are somewhere within that process and will unite with another church. That is probably the reason her response to the correspondent's assertion that he had spoken to "her pastor" was, "Which one?"
We ALL know what her church teaches hate, racism, distortion, rife, backstabbing and everything associated with how to get to hell. I think she was a member of the Satan Lutheran Church in Stillwater, Minnesota not Salem as mentioned. Just my thought.
I guess the church had enough of the off the wall b.s. from the bachmannz.
