Obama = Carter, Romney says

(CNN) - Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney leveled his harshest criticism to-date against President Obama Friday comparing the current president to former one-term Democratic President Jimmy Carter.

The former Massachusetts governor is expected to link the Democrats while campaigning in New Hampshire Friday. In a press release, Team Romney said Obama's comments Thursday in a television interview that Americans are "stressed out" are equivalent to Carter's 1979 "Malaise" speech when he said Americans have a "crisis of confidence." Friday is the 32nd anniversary of the address.

"Yes, Mr. President, Americans are stressed – stressed about rising unemployment, falling home prices, and an economy that's isn't working for them," Romney said in a statement. "Not since Jimmy Carter have we seen such failed economic policies. Who would have guessed that we'd look back upon the Carter Administration as the good old days?"

As the frontrunner for the GOP presidential nomination in 2012, Romney, a former businessman who's making his second bid for the White House, has consistently taken aim at the president over his handling of the economy, telling voters it helps to have had a job if you hope to create jobs.

At an event in New Hampshire Thursday, Romney needled the president over the debt ceiling negotiations.

"Come on, Mr. President," Romney said. "You can, by yourself, cut spending, agree to cap the spending and put in place a balanced budget amendment."

Brad Woodhouse, communications director for the Democratic National Committee, said Romney's proposed economic plan would "benefit millionaires at the expense of the middle class."

"Mitt Romney is so out of touch he thinks what Americans need right now is to make life more difficult for seniors by ending Medicare and slashing Social Security to continue funding tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires," Woodhouse said in a statement. "Mitt Romney's failed leadership and policies are a form of stress no American should be subject to."

    The Europeans were calling him "Jimmy Jr." within just a few months after he took office.

    And Romney = George H.W. Bush. Both are entitled rich guys from New Rngland who are career politicians and are out of touch with the needs of everyday Americans.

    And, by the way, as a Nobel Peace Prize winner, broker of the first (and only) significant Middle East peace treaty (Egypt and Israel), and the first president to elevate education to a cabinet-level priority....there are worse people who Obama could be compared to than Jimmy Carter.

    Romney failed to indicate also that Romney = Romney. Romney was a loser when he ran for the Senate and he is still a loser running for President. I wil, however, give him credit for being a tab bit smarter than Sarah Palin. JUST A TAB BIT.

    The circumstances are different. There also differences in attitudes. I think that Obama is working toward fixing problems that Carter never addressed. Obama is also trying to get people more aware of the problems that we have.

    Romney is campaigning using the old style tactics thats why he will not be successful. He doesn't understand that folks get information all around the clock and anywhere they wish to. Convincing people on what is in his mind, seems to be like hitting the hard wall!

    Put forth your ideas and solutions (if you have any) on how to solve the budget issue. One of the signs of a good leader is someone who does not just complain but brings ideas/solutions to the table too. I think the entire U.S. government should be put through Six Sigma training and be forced to put the training into action!!

    Well, Mr. Mitt Romeny the only similarities both have are, they are both Democrats both are human rights advocates. But here are their differences, Obama will be a 2 term president! carter was a one term, Obama became the U.S President at a younger age than carter, Obama is a problem solver well liked by most sane Americans and the rest of the world. Carter was not well liked infact there was a crisis one after the other. Please Mitt, do as all a favor go find yourselves more wives!

    Presidents exist within a historical context. Following Watergate, voters wanted someone who was outside Washington and who looked scrupulously honest and ethical. Carter fit the need very well.
