(CNN) – Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty continued to hammer rival Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney Friday for being what he has described as "largely absent" from the debt crisis debate.
"My thoughts on the debt ceiling <http://t.co/yL7G2gw What say you @MittRomney? Help us fight back," Pawlenty tweeted with a link to an appearance on CNBC's Kudlow Report Thursday.

Washington (CNN) - Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann has long been a darling of conservative evangelicals, but shortly before announcing her White House bid she officially quit a church she'd belonged to for years.
Bachmann, a Minnesota congresswoman, and her husband Marcus withdrew their membership from Salem Lutheran Church in Stillwater, Minnesota last month, according to church officials.
(CNN) - A leading fiscal conservative group, Club for Growth, announced strong opposition Friday to Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell's debt ceiling contingency plan calling it a "backroom deal."
"The American people didn't send more Republicans to Washington so they could give President Obama more power," said the group's president, Chris Chocola, in a statement Friday. "This backroom deal is just another sellout of the free-market principles that make America strong."
(CNN) – Bristol Palin talked politics with Jay Leno Thursday, saying Sarah Palin's mid-term resignation as Alaska governor won't hurt her chances of running for president.
The 20-year-old said her mom stepped down in 2009 in response to a surge of lawsuits.
"It was just costing the state tons of money and us personally tons of money, and she just wasn't able to do her job with those lawsuits being filed," Bristol said.
(CNN) - Rick Santorum's presidential campaign says it brought in more than half a million dollars the past three months.
According to a news release Friday morning, the former senator from Pennsylvania raised $582,348 in the second quarter of the year. The campaign says it has $229,000 cash on hand, with no debt.

(CNN) - Marcus Bachmann, the husband of Republican presidential candidate Rep. Michele Bachmann, defended his Christian counseling business over accusations it uses a controversial therapy that encourages homosexual patients to change their sexual orientation.
In an interview with the Minnesota Star Tribune published Friday, Bachmann did not deny that he or other counselors at his clinic used the technique, but said they only did so at the request of a patient.

(CNN) - Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney leveled his harshest criticism to-date against President Obama Friday comparing the current president to former one-term Democratic President Jimmy Carter.
The former Massachusetts governor is expected to link the Democrats while campaigning in New Hampshire Friday. In a press release, Team Romney said Obama's comments Thursday in a television interview that Americans are "stressed out" are equivalent to Carter's 1979 "Malaise" speech when he said Americans have a "crisis of confidence." Friday is the 32nd anniversary of the address.
