Tea party to GOP: We could make 'examples' of you over debt ceiling

Washington (CNN) - Right now, some Republican lawmakers in Washington may be wondering how to wiggle out from between a rock and a hard place.

On one hand, they're staring at a possible financial nightmare if the nation's debt limit isn't raised. On the other, many are feeling the heat from tea party demands that bluntly warn: Vote against us and suffer political consequences.

All I can think of is Phil Hartman's grunting SNL rendition of Frankenstein at the dinner table....with a plate full of GOP congresscritters in front of him. How's that use of extremism to shift the Overton Window tot he right working out for ya now?

the GOP 'sold it's soul to the DEVIL" just to win in 2010 and now they have to bow down and worship their evil master. The Tea Party approval rating is far lower than Obama's and is almost in Bush/Cheney territory. Yet they OWN the GOP. The GOP we once knew and some even admired has gone the way of the dodo bird.

Well, it's time for some members of Congress to "show your love." Love of country, of love of money. They consider themselves to be "defenders of freedom", but yet they have no freedom at all. They do what they are told, even if it is against The Constitution that they are sworn to defend.

TEA partiers will drive our country off a cliff just to get over on the President. Pathetic.

The tea party is irrelevant, the sooner the GOP realizes this, the sooner they'll slow down their march towards extinction

63 Democrats lost their seats in the House over Health Care. I doubt you will see that kind of courage from the GOP. It will only take 25 seats to flip the House, and that is within reach. The GOP is scared of the blowback that is coming their way; between the debt ceiling and the Ryan Plan, they have been exposed as people only interested in ideology, not solutions. Ryan is not a solution, its a cop-out with a voucher, and the GOP knows it. I watched the drama in NY-26 ( I live in the district), and this will be repeated throughut the country in November 2012.

So, I guess the real Republican House Speaker is Dick Armey. I guess it doesn't matter if you are no longer in office or not.

Welcome to the "Citizens United for America" people.

The Tea Party does not represent all of the citizens of this country. This movement goes against the very reason we chose the form of government we did. Our government is for our elected officials to exchange ideas and come up with a consensus. That means you do not always get things your way. The Tea Party ideology does not allow for an exchange of ideas or other opinions that are contrary to their own. That is Un-American. The other three ideologies that use follow that same extreme doctrine were Communism, Fascism and Nazism. As a Military veteran I and my fellow Veteran fought against these ISM’s and for the rights of all citizens not the few. DO NOT LET this so called party take those rights from you.

It's time for the Tea Party to SIT DOWN AND SHUTUP! They are a small portion of this country and need to learn (as most children do) that they can't have everything their way.

This goes to show you how radical the Teatards are. They'd rather we default on our debt than doing what is RIGHT. Politics needs to be put aside. The grown ups in Congress need to raise the debt limit and pass it as a clean bill.

    Very Good article

“Its 2½-year existence” Obama also in the white house 2½-years that mean because of Obama tea party has its life Shannon Travis thanks for telling the truth

    Let’s go to the picture

Cut spending sending seniors to death chamber that is not cut spending
How to reduce deficit without increasing revenue?
When you have huge deficit how to balance the budget without increasing revenue?

“tea party activists in Utah dethroned (former U.S. Sen.) Bob Bennett and replaced him with (Sen.) Mike Lee."

2010 Mike lee got 390,000 votes against democrat,
2004 Bennett got 627 000 votes against democrat
This prove because of tea party republicans lost 240,000 votes in Utah

Balance the budget by taking away the benefits that allow these frivilous group the luxury of time to ride around the country on childish bus trips and wave signs. Maybe go back to work and be productive and pay some taxes. Who changes the Constitution to read that instead of the majority ruling the country, it is the loudest (and most uninformed) minority.

As a tea party member we would like to know what tea party you are quoting "we could make examples out of you over debt celling". I have called a lot of tea parties across the nation and no one supports this! The tea party supports the constitution, bill of rights and politicians that need to be replaced. We support politicians running for office that we have checked out to make sure they are the real deal. Speaker Boehner and Republicans are holding America hostage to destroy Social security and Medicare. That is like a company trying to rip off the employee's 401k, it is not different. Social Security is not broke. Republicans started wars based on lies and deception and failed to raise tax to pay for them, now they are using the debt celling to attack seniors of America.

I wonder how many seniors, teachers, public workers, single mothers, women, and federal employees still consider themselves tea partiers?

As the business community realizes the irresponsible effects of default, Dick Armey and the Koch Brothers must accept responsibility for creating this uncompromising tea monster calling for a shutdown. Our country simply does not revolve around a tea minority being nonsensical.

The majority of Americans want reasonable compromise from both sides.

Fair asked for sources of info on what News Corp pays in taxes. That's fair. But since I cannot cite by name I will suggest you perform your search for "news corp taxes paid" and select your own source.

This is why the Tea Party will continue to ruin the Republican party..they are hijacking the political process and until the GOP stands up for what is right and not what is politically ON the right they will see their numbers fall and their majority in the House diminished.

Raising taxes is just feeding the monster. Obama will soon be spending his way up to whatever the next debt limit is and we will go through this whole drama again. It has no end point until he is replaced.
