RNC maps out White House foul

Washington (CNN)-It's never too early to play hardball presidential politics. Republican National Committee Chair Reince Priebus penned a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder asking for an investigation of an "apparent crime" committed by President Barack Obama Monday.

According to Priebus, the crime was committed by the president, in the Map Room, with a video.

Priebus accused the president of recording a fundraising appeal in the Map Room of the White House. He said it is "not part of the White House residence, but rather 'occupied in the discharge of official duties,'" and called for the Department of Justice to investigate.

The Map Room is located on the ground floor of the White House.

"According to multiple individuals with knowledge of the White House's rooms and layout, the video appears to have been recorded in the Map Room...the White House Counsel has indicated that the video was filmed somewhere in the residential portion of the White House," Priebus said.

It is illegal to solicit contributions for a political purpose from any area of the White House "occupied in the discharge of official duties," or, used for purposes of official White House business.

But the Map Room is considered to be part of the White House residence, and has been for decades. The residence is not subject to restrictions placed on rooms used for official business.

White House spokesman Eric Schultz told CNN, "As we've said in the past, this was wholly appropriate and routinely done in past administrations."

"Many lawyers and experts have all said publicly that what this administration is doing is completely above board," Schultz fired back.

Despite the RNC's claims, both Republican and Democratic administrations have considered the Map Room as part of the White House residence.

Why to a Republican controlled white house and congress debt was not a problem? Let get this straight. From 2000 to 2008 our country went from a surplus to bigger debt not overnight. Prior to elections in 2008 republicans could not face the public any more so they called themselves "libertarian". Mr. Mc'Connolly mentioned that now in two years this is Mr. Obama economy. How about previous 8 years Mr. Mc'Connolly do they count for something. Republicans are enemies of America. They would rather see this country fail than Mr. Obama get re-elected. Now who is more patriotic Republicans? l would take my chance with a liberal rather than hypocrites who wave a flag and have a loud mouth....

But the stealing of an election in broad daylight in Florida by Bush and his brother was just fine. Two wars and economic collapse later, they still don't want to talk about that.

This guy is just as much of a clown as Michael Steele. But I digress. What kind of name is Reince Preibus? I bet he got beat up a lot in grade school.

Enough of the childish games! We are in serious times and need serious people to deal them. Clearly that leaves out most of the Republicans who think they work for Grover Norquist instead of the American people.

Please, America, vote out the Medicare-destroying, economy-destroying, not-a-SINGLE-idea-on-jobs Republicans.

Once again the republican NAZI party has decided to waste people's time with NON-ISSUES.
I do not know which is more pathetic .....
The GOP NAZIS helping Bill Gates & Warren Buffet save money ... or ...
The NAZI GOP Party holding Americans hostage.
I believe that the Attorney General should be spending less time on the 'layout of the White House' & more time figuring out how republican politicians are being bought under the table by the Tea Potty (The real Tea Party & I am not talking a Boston accent) & other wealthy GOP NAZI supporters.

This is how republicans have wasted millions in tax dollars.Countless millions attacking Clinton, who had a balanced budget, over whitewater and nothing came from it.

I am a moderate conservative and this kind of thing is disheartening. I don't agree with all that our President is doing, but he is the President of the United States of America and he has some difficult decisions to make. Even though I disagree with him, I am praying for him and I know that we don't have time for foolishness. I wish we had a decent representative that would challenge him on real issues with integrity and intelligence, not this kind of pathetic attack.

"But the Map Room is considered to be part of the White House residence, and has been for decades. The residence is not subject to restrictions placed on rooms used for official business."

This is what the GOP resorts to, since it has no record of accomplishment to point to in their effort to regain the White House. Their only solution to our economic troubles is to cut taxes on the rich, even though after 10 years of the Bush tax cuts and 30 years of tinkle-down, voodoo Reaganomics, their idea is a PROVEN FAILURE.

You have to ask yourself just who do these Republicans represent because, given their policies' effect on our country, economy, military, foreign relations and populace in general, they clearly don't know what's in our best interest.

Perhaps it's time to admit that Republicans care more about making money and having power – regardless of the detrimental effects – than on the long-term prosperity of the United States and her people.

Repubs claim it's illegal and unethical that Obama recorded a video in the wrong room at the White House? Obama should have recorded the video from the LA bonage club the RNC visited last year. They'd have been ok with that.

OK, maybe Priebus should use the White House map room to find his way to a real issue. We are facing the worst financial disaster in years and this bozo wants the DOJ to investigate the President. Please

@ Bob with the list of dates:: "But the Map Room is considered to be part of the White House residence, and has been for decades. The residence is not subject to restrictions placed on rooms used for official business."

Haven't you ever had a business associate in your home? If so, does that mean your house is "occupied in the discharge of official duties," or is it you've just talked business in your personal residence?

Please consider actually thinking before your next post.

BTW, I've been on vacation and didn't post July 10 – 19. I say this because shortly before I left, some coward (read: Republican lackey) was posting ridiculous comments under my screen name.
