RNC maps out White House foul

Washington (CNN)-It's never too early to play hardball presidential politics. Republican National Committee Chair Reince Priebus penned a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder asking for an investigation of an "apparent crime" committed by President Barack Obama Monday.

According to Priebus, the crime was committed by the president, in the Map Room, with a video.

Priebus accused the president of recording a fundraising appeal in the Map Room of the White House. He said it is "not part of the White House residence, but rather 'occupied in the discharge of official duties,'" and called for the Department of Justice to investigate.

The Map Room is located on the ground floor of the White House.

"According to multiple individuals with knowledge of the White House's rooms and layout, the video appears to have been recorded in the Map Room...the White House Counsel has indicated that the video was filmed somewhere in the residential portion of the White House," Priebus said.

It is illegal to solicit contributions for a political purpose from any area of the White House "occupied in the discharge of official duties," or, used for purposes of official White House business.

But the Map Room is considered to be part of the White House residence, and has been for decades. The residence is not subject to restrictions placed on rooms used for official business.

White House spokesman Eric Schultz told CNN, "As we've said in the past, this was wholly appropriate and routinely done in past administrations."

"Many lawyers and experts have all said publicly that what this administration is doing is completely above board," Schultz fired back.

Despite the RNC's claims, both Republican and Democratic administrations have considered the Map Room as part of the White House residence.

Yeah, how many filthy deals did GWB cut out at the ranch, when he couldn't be found in the White House, Reince?

Another sign that republicans are getting desperate to tarnish Obama's reputation. They've had the birther conspiracy, name calling (socialist/communist), and comparrisons to Adolf Hitler. And of course they won't drop this and will not stop crying foul until the election is over.

Reince Priebus is a pathetic little twerp. None of these antics will lead to an Obama defeat in 2012.

Considering that the RNC is currently over $20 million in debt (and has been for over a year), why hasn't the justice dept looked into whether the creditors failure to enforce collections (i.e. forclose on the RNC)- like they would on anyone else- should be counted as illegal contributions?

The extraordinary amount of bulls-t the GOP shovels these days is a great testament to their complete lack of anything useful to say or do. They have no reason to exist at this point.

So in other words: in order to gain some sort of political advantage, they are going to force an investigation which will cost more taxpayer money?

More Republican sleaziness. Tell the "Big Lie" often enough (i.e., the President isn't an American), and at least some stupid hateful people will latch onto it and run with it.

OK lets get this strait for the record some republicans are saying the president is breaking the law when some maybe most say he is not,now for the aha moment wait for it from a few months in this administration the republicans have been trying to bring down defame and downright bury in the mud our president if our children were to overachieve in this manner our school system would without a doubt pay for itself well above and beyond its own budgett in the most simplist of ways except the republicans are not trying to hide the fact or are they willing to stop the onslaught against the president either wich begs to differ the platform the ran on in the last cycle was JOBS-JOBS-JOBS so how does this or the maproom equate into this platform in a political sense we all know this dont have to make sense because we can pancake story after story and still get basiclly the same results wich most likely is far off topic just like the men and women in politics do granted a very few get things done in a timely manner far and few between but for the most part you get the idea,so at the start of a political story till the end you can somtimes matbe get some facts as to whats its about and somtimes its not related at all just like the maproom and our current state of affairs.

Anytime this President does anything that other administration has done, it is a problem. Bush illegally took us in to a war that crumbed our country ecomony. These people (GObp) are having a hissing fit over the president using a Damn Map room, give me a break.

That's all the Gop know how to do. Lie, shift blame, show hypocrisy on every thing and try to impeach over nothing. Try and govern effective then run on your past achievements for a change Gop instead of constantly resorting to making a federal case, literally, out of nothing. Grow up. Where's your jobs bill Gop? Unemployment has risen since you regained control in the House...

"done by past administrations.' Face it. It's legal. I don't like Obama but he has done nothing wrong in this situation. The Republicans are grasping at straws.......and it embarrasses all of us conservatives.

The RNC will go to any length to dishonor our president. They whine and cry whine and cry, protect the very welathy among us at the cost of non-balancing our budget, pour billions into unneeded and in some cases unwanted government expenditures and then cry about the deficit. This was just another of their silly farces.
