Wasserman Schultz, West let the fur fly

Washington (CNN)-The debt debate got ugly over the internet between two Florida representatives on either side of the House aisle. Freshman Congressman Allen West ripped into Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz over e-mail following her comments on the House floor Tuesday.

Calling the Democratic National Committee Chair the "most vile, unprofessional, and despicable member" of the House, West said, "Look, Debbie, I understand that after I departed the House floor you directed your floor speech comments directly towards me. Let me make myself perfectly clear, you want a personal fight, I am happy to oblige."

CNN obtained a copy of the e-mail from a congressional source.

Wasserman Schultz offended the tea party favorite by directly disparaging his support of the "Cut, Cap and Balance" bill that went on to pass the House of Representatives late Tuesday-after he left the floor.

"Incredulously, the gentleman from Florida. who represents thousands of Medicare beneficiaries, as do I, is supportive of this plan that would increase costs for Medicare beneficiaries," she said, calling West's approval of the plan "unbelievable from a member from South Florida."

West fired back in his message, challenging the four-term Democrat.

"If you have something to say to me, stop being a coward and say it to my face, otherwise, shut the heck up. Focus on your own congressional district!" he railed.

"From this time forward, understand that I shall defend myself forthright against your heinous characterless behavior…You have proven repeatedly that you are not a Lady, therefore, shall not be afforded due respect from me!"

But Jonathan Beeton, a spokesman for Wasserman Schultz, charged that West's grievance was not actually with the congresswoman.

"I don't think that Congressman West is upset at the Congresswoman, but rather with the fact that she highlighted that he and other Republicans are once again trying to balance the budget on the backs of seniors, children and the middle class," Beeton said. "The truth hurts."

And West refused to leave his gripe on the House floor. Signing the e-mail "Steadfast and Loyal," West vowed, "I am bringing your actions today to our Majority Leader and Majority Whip."

CNN's Deirdre Walsh contributed to this report.

Right back at ya. Except also for you sir you can add stupid to the list because no matter how you feel about the congresswoman she is acting in her own best interest and that of those who elected her. Can you say the same thing for yourself? Well uncle Tom, can you?

Also, why are there so many kooks attacking West. He hasn't done anything wrong. Learn to agree to disagree without feeling the need to completely destroy the opposition.

This is why I am so disgusted with politicians. They lower themselves to partisan bickering instead of having a debate on the actual issues. What gets accomplished with these two acting so childish? These are the people that claim to represent us, but in fact, they only represent themselves. And they're not doing a very good job at that. The House floor is not the place for vitriolic rhetoric. You are there to accomplish the people's business, not yours.

Interesting how the right wing wackos soften the vile sexist insults when the woman is a Dem, and most GOPs are blaming the woman – but if she were one of the GOP darlings like Phalin or Bawkman and someone mentioned the reaility that they make no sense when the spoke – they're ganshing their teeth and frothing at the mouth. Such sad little people.

MrC, Democrats tend to point out the Truth, which is like blowing garlic breath into Dracula's face – it hurts! Republicans tend to use Rupert Murdoch to broadcast insinuations with no substantive evidence. The difference is a Democrat will state the truth once, with full conviction, while the Republican/FOX Machine will repeat the same inuendo over and over hoping people will believe it.

West is a leader, a patriot and has the gall to call out a tax & spend liberal on her back stabbing banter. waits till he cant defend himself to make her attack- If she was anything other than a coward, she wouldn't be a liberal.

Rep. West shows his true colors, as he couldn't possibly say this to Debbie Wasserman Schultz to her face. He had to do it by email, and not even private email, since he also mailed it to many others. I call this being a coward.

West is offended that she brought attention to his "ripping off" of seniors, to protect the wealthy contributors who own him. West is another dishonest politician from the extremist faction that has conquered the republican party and is jealous of Wasserman-Schultz because she is intelligent and faithfully represents her contituents, the very people of Florida he is selling out.

It make me sick to vote for someone who swear they are not going to do something and as soon as the win the turn around and lie. The American People need to elected People In the House and Senate that want to work to make America and the American People better. Not just Special group of People. And People need to Quit backing any body by the Tea Party. The TEA PARTY doesn't care About America they only care what they can get out of It.

West's mistake was sending an email to a dim-o-wit. He should have known it would get "leaked" to the press. Next time I suggest he write a short message across his knuckles and plant it on her forehead.

West i s a loose cannon and a coward. It doesn't seem like he can stand the heat. Is he going to run home to mommy because the little girl (my apologies to Ms Schultz) said something bad about him? What's his complaint? What she said is true. His reply just shows him to be a thinned skinned, weakling, who knows nothing about congress or debate. If he can't deal with Debby, it's time for him to call it quits.

this is what happens, republicans, when you blindly make pledges to your fringe that are not in the best interest on your constiuents. you end up having to lie about what the pledge means, and try to deflect the discussion by talking about how vile your exposer is.

West knows how to deal with socialists. If they think they can bully you, they will. They only have the power you give them. That's the way they were in Russia, China, France, and Germany. If you confront them, they are cowards and will leave you alone.

I am a Republican. Beware of the Republican Party of today. We as a party are out to destroy the middle class. We want America to be a nation of Haves and Have nots. We want to destroy all unions, Medicare, Social Security, education ETC. Those Damn teachers just make too much money. Please vote Republican if you want to destroy America.

Wasserman-Schultz deserves all she got from Rep. West – and then some. She is a snake in the grass, meanspirited and cunning. Is this all the Democrats could come up with for a chairwoman of their party? Pathetic!

    @ MrC:

Why is it Republicans are always supposed to apologize when Democrats routinely and gleefully commit vile attacks on the likes of Palin and Bachman or try to peg the shooting of Congresswoman Giffords on the Tea Party and are never held to account? Get serious.

Example? What about Alan Grayson's antics on the house floor?

So what party is more likely to participate and partake of personal attacks and vulgarity? Hmm. Let me guess.

Ever watch FOX? Ever pray- I mean, listen to AM radio? Ever listen to the likes of Rep. King from Iowa, Goehmert from Texas, or Broun from Georgia( you remember Mr. Broun, the rep who giggled when one of his constituents asked when they could kill Obama?)? Then there was Gingerich from Georgia, who called the President and his wife "uppity".How about Rand Paul's black-shirted thugs who stomped on a woman, then had the gall to demand an aplogy? If you want some vintage garbage, how about the late Jesse Helms? Your boys lowered the standard, we just call you on it. Don't blame us if your heros give themselves enough rope to hang themselves: we're just kicking the chair out from under them. So, in answer to your question, I would have to say your boys, because your rhetoric is consistently laced with violent metaphors, overtones and with frequent references to retribution. Gunsights are not the symbol you want to be sending independent voters. Finally, quit playing the right-wing martyr/victim, its getting really old. It tells us you can't play with the adults.
