More jabs between RNC and DNC

(CNN) - Chair of the Democratic National Committee, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, wrote a letter to Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus Thursday responding to an earlier request from the RNC that Attorney General Eric Holder investigate an "apparent" crime by President Obama.

Priebus accused the president Monday of misusing the White House Map Room to record a fundraising video. A White House spokesman noted the room is part of the White House residence, and therefore not subject to the restrictions placed on official rooms.

Minnesota shutdown: It's over

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) - The Minnesota shutdown is over.

Governor Mark Dayton signed a $35.7 billion budget on Wednesday, ending the longest state shutdown in recent history.

The signing came shortly after lawmakers approved a two-year spending plan in the wee hours of the morning. It ended a impasse that shuttered much of the state government for the past 19 days.

GOP hopefuls to Twitter debate after early snafus, confusion

Washington (CNN) – Getting politicians to keep their answers short is tough. On Wednesday, six of them will be forced to by the confines of Twitter.

In what's being billed as "groundbreaking," six of the 10 major Republican presidential candidates will participate in a Twitter presidential debate. They will answer questions in 140 characters or less. That, of course, is the maximum number of characters allowed per tweet. Organizers of the debate say they will allow the candidates to type multiple tweets - but that short answers are still encouraged.

RNC targets Hispanic voters in Southwest

Washington (CNN) – The Republican National Committee is up with a new television commercial in three battleground states that could determine the outcome of next year's presidential election.

The RNC says the ad, which highlights what they call President Barack Obama's "failed economic leadership," begins running Wednesday in Colorado, New Mexico and Nevada. The party committee says it's also going up with an accompanying Spanish language radio ad. Hispanic and Latino voters are a major force in all three states and the national unemployment level among Hispanics stands at 11.6 percent.

CNN: House passes GOP debt measure; Obama praises compromise plan
The U.S. House on Tuesday night passed the "cut, cap and balance" deficit reduction plan backed by tea party conservatives but dismissed by President Barack Obama, who offered strong praise for another proposal put together by a bipartisan group of senators.
