President Obama moves closer to supporting same sex marriage

Washington (CNN) – President Obama is now supporting the Respect for Marriage Act, a bill that would repeal the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), the ban on same sex marriage President Clinton signed into law in 1996.

"He is proud to support the Respect for Marriage Act ... which would take DOMA off the books once and for all," said White House Press Secretary Jay Carney at yesterday's briefing. "This legislation would uphold the principle that the federal government should not deny gay and lesbian couples the same rights and legal protections as straight couples."

Good - Sign It - now can we get back to the business of running the country? Why does the GOP continue to carry the Gods, Guns and Gays banner, no matter what they campaign on or how much they SAY they support less invasive government!! Can they just stay the hell out of our bedrooms?

Oh so you mean that when he said he was against gay marriage, during the elections, he was lying? say it isn't so... I mean its not like the man lies everyday to all of America... Im sorry, he doesn't lie, he misspeaks... or tells half truths.. i guess thats better than a full blown lie huh... How does one move towards supporting gay marraige.. You either have your beliefs and your convictions, or you dont.. I believe this empty suit does not have any real convictions... he just says what he thinks others want to hear.... seems to be a pattern with ear leader..

There is nothing to actually support. The problem is with the opposition, the people who think they have the inalienable right to tell other people that they should live their lives according to standards that *they*, not God, have defined and granted to themselves the right to judge.

This is a MISTAKE. Marriage is and will always be between a man and a woman. Why because God said so and he is NEVER wrong.

Obama will do ANYTHING at this point to get the support of ANYBODY and in this guess it is gays and lesbians. His support now includes the blacks, gay, lesbians and leftist lunatics (aka "progressives"). He is TOAST next year with that level of support.
