Washington (CNN) - A campaign official for President Barack Obama tells CNN the president has cancelled two political fundraising appearances Monday night because of the debt ceiling situation.
The president’s week-ahead schedule, released Friday night, stated he was to attend two Democratic National Committee events in Washington Monday evening. But the events were not listed on a schedule released Sunday night.

MORE FALLOUT FROM TEA PARTY REPUBLICANS SELF-INFLICTED DISASTER; EVEN THE CAMPAIGN SEASON IS IMPACTED
Eric Cantor, John Boehner and Tea Party Republicans made the assumption that they could jack-up President Obama and the Democrats for drastic cuts in Medicare and Social Security, by tying the cuts to the nation's need to raise the national debt. The debt has been raised 74 times since JFK took office in 1961, and it would not hurt the Tea Party to raise it again, considering the nation is trying to rebuild the job market.
But what Eric Cantor and Tea Party Republicans didn't expect, was for President Obama and the Democrats to hold to principles and not allow the GOP to balance the budget on the backs of hardworking middle-class Americans while the Tea Party give millionaires and corporations a free pass, again.
Nice of him to do the job he was elected to do.
If this debt thing don't get fixed you won't need the money! All you Dem.s in office and all the GOP/Tea Party in office will get some time off without pay! Then we'll tell your replacements to remember who they really work for!
work joyfully and peacefully knowing that
the right thoughts and the right efforts will
inevitably bring about right results.
Seriously? Obama thinks the nation's debt crisis is more important than a fund raiser? Hard to believe.
Headline is misleading. He has to postpone them until after the debt deal is done so HIS BANKER DONORS KNOW HOW MUCH THEY CAN AFFORD TO GIVE HIM.
Get this POS out of here in 2012 (and toss out the Dems AND RINOS with him). Wake up America, the Tea Party is YOU, all we are saying is STOP THE SPENDING.
Republicans like to call the President irresponsible and uncommited if he takes a few hours off to play a round a golf. The debit default is the biggest crisis facing the country and what do Republicans do in response? They take the entire weekend off and go home. How's that for being irresponsible and ucommitted!
He is showing where his priorities are... He wants to avoid a default. If Boehner (ruled by the tea people) would be willing to let go of ideology for a chance to work on something, then it would be done already. Given that the wealthy control so much of the country's wealth already, they should be paying more into making it work or find something that will serve the social welfare functions that the government does. How hard is that?
I feel your pain, Obama.
