No one has killed more jobs that republicans in the last twelve years. No one has spent more(two wars) or given more of the US's money away(useless tax breaks for the rich and tax breaks for big corporations and subsidies for big corporations) than republicans. The message from republicans appears to be: only the little people should pay their fair share of taxes, and only the little people should have to sacrifice.

I love reading the partisan bull on this site, it's hilarious. GW and the GOP got us in a huge mess with irresponsible spending, including two wars without an exit strategy. Obama followed that up by ADDING more troops overseas, ADDING another conflict in Libya and is on pace to raise the national debt by $6 TRILLION in one term!! That's almost as much as every other President before him in the history of the US. As a moderate, I would say GW and the GOP lead Congress were brutal. I would also say that Obama and the rest of the Dems have been even worse the past two years. You look at history and we haven't had worse back to back Presidents probably since Pierce and Buchanon back in the mid 1800's.

The republican game of stall, stall, stall, then vote against has caught up with them.

The tea-baggers and some republicans will lose their seats in 2012, and even more in 2014.

WE HEAR YOU, AND WE DON'T LIKE THE CORPORATIST ATTITUDE OF PROTECT THE WEALTHY BY DESTROYING THE MIDDLE CLASS.

WE WILL VOTE YOU [R]s OUT. -- Signed: Democrate, Independents, Progressives

Sorry. Republicans defined the art of out of control deficit spending. Obama did not add troops as much as he shifted troops from Iraq to Afghanistan. The Libya conflict is part of our treaty obligations to our allies.

Obama inherited an annual deficit that was running at $1.5T. Let's take your numbers. You claim Obama will add $6T, which means a 60% increase. Reagan doubled the debt his first term, and had more than tripled it by the end of his second.

BTW, I agree with you that GWB and Republicans really messed things up. After all, in 8 years GWB doubled the debt and turned a $300B surplus into a $1.5T deficit, which is a turn around of nearly 2 trillion. He did this while middle class incomes declined PRIOR to the financial crisis and top wage earners saw their incomes grow dramatically.

Your own facts contradict that claim. You claim Obama will add $6T. Yet, the debt stood around $10T when he took office. That $10T represents every president prior to Obama. Your own "facts" contradict your claims.

  9. Democrat Class Warfare & Race Baiting - Destroying the economy, destroying the country

Obama and the Democrats used the recession to spend, no WASTE, nearly a TRILLION dollars on nothing that was going to help the economy and lower unemployment. NOTHING they have done or said has helped or turned out to be true. Their total incompetence in dealing with the economy and jobs is crystal clear. They think the government holds the keys to job creation and prosperity, when in actuallity THEIR policies lead to job destruction and economic decline. But this is what you get when you put an inexperienced socialistic community organizer in the Whitehouse.

Do you wanna' know what is wrong with our economy? For the past 30 years, with the introduction of the now defunct religion of trickle down economics, there has been a war on the middle class. The middle class has seen their job pool shrink year after year. The past decade saw a "fire at will" policy that resulted in a 40% decline in US manufacturing jobs.

Yet, somehow our GDP has grown over the last 3 decades. This is easily explained by looking at the financial sector. Finances accounted for 16% of GDP in the 1970s. That figured had ballooned up to 60% by the time that the Great Recession began. Our main export has shifted from manufactured goods to pure capital itself.

Now do you understand trickle down economics works?

    An intersting disconnect-
that Americans overwhelmingly believe Bush & Co. crashed the ambulance, add on that 71-78% of Americans (depending upon the poll) support raising taxes, especially on the rich and corporations- ending the "temporary" Bush tax cuts.
Yet Republicans seem to think Americans want their brand of economics- where the poor and elderly must pay for the tax breaks for corporations. Where it is alright to pledge allegiance to Grover Norquist and his "Club for Growth", and take their legislation from ALEC, but to also actively work against the best interests of the people they are elected to represent.

Are Republicans ready for the scalding they are about to get? Will they "get it" then?

If they succeed in crashing the economy to keep Obama out of the White House in the next election what will they do then? They have so lost their way, and have become corrupted by their own radical ideology that they must fail in their quest. The very health of our democracy relies upon it.

Looking at the details, there are some interesting results:
Women tend to blame the GOP more than men do
Moderates support the Democrats on this issue
Minorities appear more optimistic about future economic conditions
    Bush's name is still poison

These republicans are working for one thing and one thing only "TOO MAKE SURE OBAMA FAILS" and to do that if it means not working with him trying to put all the blame for this economy on him, and refusing to compromise on anything they are telling America "TO HELL WITH YOU, AND OUR GOVERNMENT, AND OUR ECONOMY AND THE MIDDLE CLASS AND ELDERLY." ALL WE WANT IS FOR OBAMA TO FAIL......they forget and think that we have forgotten that it was Bush who FAILED this country and they FAILED by supporting his 2 wars......now is the time of TRUTH, either you represent America or you don't and from what we have seen it is eveident that they don't care what happens to our Goverment.....remember the old saying....."We will fall from within" and it will all fall on the backs of the Republicans...if you think the Republicans are going to cut my Social Security Benifits (That I have paid into for 50 years) without raising the Taxes on the Richest in this country amd big corporations, and end their loopholes ......You got another thing coming.....

"WE WILL VOTE YOU [R]s OUT. - Signed: Democrate, Independents, Progressives"

Revise that to a handful of ultra liberal Democrats and I'd be inclined to agree. The reality is that Obama has lost support in all areas. I wouldn't be surprised to see Democrats suffer greater losses.

  16. Democrat Class Warfare & Race Baiting - Destroying the economy, destroying the country

WHY are the Democrats and Obama agreeing to ANY cuts??? I thought the government had to spend and borrow our way to economic prosperity and full employment?? Isn't that what Obama sold to us for 2 straight YEARS? They controlled ALL of government for 2 years and Congress for 4 years. And here we are with record unemployment for a record length of time, with record deficits and record debt.. I say we need to double down of liberal stupidity and spend another 3 TRILLION on another stimulus package and maybe a remake of another 1/6th of our economy. THAT should bring the unemployment down to zero, right?
