Palin: Obama's 'fear mongering'

(CNN) - Sarah Palin accused President Obama of "scaring" the American people over the importance of raising the debt ceiling before the August 2 deadline.

"Scaring the American people is exactly what President Obama is doing," Palin said Tuesday night on Fox News. "The president's getting pretty good at this fear mongering and trying to cram down the public's throat this idea of bigger government, more spending."

Although the former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee said she respects House Speak John Boehner's efforts to negotiate with the president, she said there is a larger problem with his strategy.

"The internal problem that he has is reinventing the wheel here in the 11th hour, when we already have Cut, Cap and Balance that passed the House, and we don't need to retreat now and wave a white flag," Palin said.

The Republican-controlled House passed "Cut, Cap, and Balance," a plan that failed to pass the Democratic-controlled Senate last week. The pledge includes cuts and caps in spending and a balanced budget amendment to the constitution. Boehner is now trying to put forward a plan that includes the framework of the pledge in a deal that could become law. Obama is advocating for a "balanced approach" to the crisis that would combine spending cuts and no extension of Bush-era tax cuts for families making more than $250,000 a year.

Palin, who is considering a bid for the White House in 2012, has said raising the debt ceiling is inevitable, but that Republicans "better get something out of it."

"This August 2 deadline is looming, but it's not Armageddon, it's not life-or-death, so Boehner and the Republicans have got to make sure that they've got a good plan in front of those who will be voting on this plan," Palin said.

Sarah when you get a clue I'll listen to you. So far your brain is centered on making as much cash as possible and blathering to your wacked out supporters.

Some how Palin "scares" me just the thought that she is even thinking to run for president and couldn't complete her term as governor of Alaska. Isn't that a quitter and she wants (or just playing around with the thought of running) to be president of the U.S.

I cannot even deal with this idea that he just trying to scare us and not raising the debt ceiling in time and defaulting is not actually life or death. Actually, it will greatly impact our economy and cause lending prices to raise for everyone in this country if our credit downgrades; thus, causing our country to have further debt and an greater economic crisis. The fact that Sarah Palin is so nonchalant about the potential severity of this issue is disturbing. Maybe Obama turns out to be wrong, but why would you be willing to risk the livelihood of this country if he is not. If we don't have the money to pay medicare checks how will some people be able to get the necessary medicine to stay alive. So yes, it is a life or death situation so wake up Sarah Palin and stop being insensitive and carefree about this. Stop being being stubborn and selfish in your desire to get something out of this situation for the Republican Party. It is not about you, it is about the people. Nobody will ever elect a leader that is not willing to work with both sides BECAUSE THAT IS THE DEFINITION OF A LEADER.

WHY is raising the National Debt ceiling inevitable? Let it crash! The Republicans have controlled the House since 2010 and haven't put out a decent budget. And, while NEITHER side will publicize this, the FACT is that the HOUSE is the one to propose the yearly BUDGET, NOT the Senate, NOT the President. Why haven't they presented a balanced budget, stood their ground and let Obama veto it???? Why, because they are part of the problem, not the solution.

I am an Independent and I vote out ALL incumbents, regardless of party. So, I don't want to hear some party sheep accusing me of being for one side or the other. I think they ALL are crooks!

Sarah is one of the dumbest and greediest women to enter politics. What she says doesn't really matter. What we have with regard to the debt deiling debate is a recalcitrant GOP right wing which wants to do away with social security, medicare, and many other federal programs and who would prefer no taxes at all for the super rich. They would like to go back to times as they were in the 1890's when the oil and railroad barons ruled the country, each one trying to build bigger mansions than the next–all while paying no income tax (and therefore no safety nets). The way to defeat the right wing kooks is at the polls next year. Let the people decide if they want federal programs, or not. If they don't, vote GOP. If they do, vote Obama. It's that simple....Obama will win in a landslide.

Well, look at the pot calling the kettle black . . . without fear-mongering the Republican party and particularly the Tea Party wouldn't exist.

Sarah, you are so amazing to most Americans and the reason you should enter the presidential race so that America could be given that opportunity to experience your intelligence on all the issues we face today.

The amount of credence we give this airhead is directly proportionate to the number of supporters she has in this series of blogs.

#1. Fear mongering has been a staple of not only Ms. Palin but Republicans in general for a while now. As everyone here notes: "death panels"
#2. I agree with several posters. We should be scared. Being scared makes people pay attention. We need that.

Okay, so what is the difference between what the president is saying and the republicans sounding the alarm of our grandchildren being broke, our SS and medicare becoming solvent, or the dems are taking our economy over a cliff, or better yet, remember "Death Panels"!!!!!...give me a break!!!!

Why do you people always accuse everyone else of what you are doing yourself? Its the perfect way to know what your intent is, Whatever you are accusing is your platform... shut up you brainless thing! Stop lying to everyone. Stop promoting hate of everyone and everything not you. Stop instilling fear in everyone about what YOUR group has created but blames everyone else for... Stop putting money and power over compassion and love for your fellow man... Go away and the country will get back to its beautiful self again...

"Palin, who is considering a bid for the White House in 2012, has said raising the debt ceiling is inevitable, but that Republicans 'better get something out of it.'"
    ***************************
And that's the problem – what should have been "The American People better get something out of it" is, instead, a glaring admission that this is all about *political* gain. Mrs. Palin's inability to open her mouth without her feet falling out continues to amaze.

"Obama wants more spending"... she's on auto-pilot with that stuff from the right. The President could advocate a $0 budget, and she would still be saying that.

YOU are the one that scares the American People, Sarah!! This Arctic Dum-Dum doesn't seem to understand that just because a bill is passed in the House does not mean it's a good bill, and one that should be implemented. She also doens't seem to understand that a law passed in the House, but rejected in the Senate, is NOT a bill. It is dead!!! These are fundamentals that dear Ms. Palin seems utterly incapable of understanding. Finally, it is the duty of the Congress, not the President to draft and pass legislation!

It's really easy to criticize a process you have no involvement in. Finish a term in office and maybe we will start taking the garbage you spew more seriously (educated people still won't).
