Palin: Obama's 'fear mongering'

(CNN) – Sarah Palin accused President Obama of "scaring" the American people over the importance of raising the debt ceiling before the August 2 deadline.

"Scaring the American people is exactly what President Obama is doing," Palin said Tuesday night on Fox News. "The president's getting pretty good at this fear mongering and trying to cram down the public's throat this idea of bigger government, more spending."

Although the former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee said she respects House Speak John Boehner's efforts to negotiate with the president, she said there is a larger problem with his strategy.

"The internal problem that he has is reinventing the wheel here in the 11th hour, when we already have Cut, Cap and Balance that passed the House, and we don't need to retreat now and wave a white flag," Palin said.

The Republican-controlled House passed "Cut, Cap, and Balance," a plan that failed to pass the Democratic-controlled Senate last week. The pledge includes cuts and caps in spending and a balanced budget amendment to the constitution. Boehner is now trying to put forward a plan that includes the framework of the pledge in a deal that could become law. Obama is advocating for a "balanced approach" to the crisis that would combine spending cuts and no extension of Bush-era tax cuts for families making more than $250,000 a year.

Palin, who is considering a bid for the White House in 2012, has said raising the debt ceiling is inevitable, but that Republicans "better get something out of it."

"This August 2 deadline is looming, but it's not Armageddon, it's not life-or-death, so Boehner and the Republicans have got to make sure that they've got a good plan in front of those who will be voting on this plan," Palin said.

Honestly, i didn't even have to finish reading this article, the first 3 sentences says it all. This woman, or lack there of, is just rediculous....she has no concept of economics. Whatever theory you agree with, this woman just doesn't get it. Why does she get the attention she does. This thing needs to hide her self and never come out. She is a waste of space and air in this earth and she just repulses me. Get over it Palin, no one wants to hear your insignificant and baseless comments. You are a complete embarrassment to all females and human beings in general.

Does this woman even begin to understand that she is totally irrelevant to any national conversation?
As soon as she announces she's not running (another 'QUIT') she becomes totally irrelevant to the election cycle. By December, 2012, Fox will can her (if Fox is still around).

Scary = Sarah Palin as POTUS. She'd have folded like a cheap card table under the pressure Obama is under. BTW, we should be scared. If Congress doesn't compromise and strike a deal and we default, the resulting super recession will make the recent one look like a cake walk! Interest rates will rise dramatically which will in turn cost business more to borrow and in turn harm their ability to grow and add jobs. The unemployment rate will then skyrocket!

can you please stop reporting about Sarah Palin? I want to read political articles from actual politicians...not armchair QBs who want to tell everyone how to do things without being qualified.

Each and every time Ms Palin opens her mouth to spread her ideas, she loses votes for the Republicans and increases votes for the independents and Democrats!

Thank you, Sarah Palin – please keep sharing your ideas – you are being so helpful to the American people!

Please don't try to talk about things that you don't understand. I support "Cut, Cap, and Balance" but it has no chance of passage. If the debt limit increase is not passed the "fear" you speak of will become reality. A downgrade by Moodys, Standard & Poors, and Fitch would impact us all and throw the markets into general disarray. Given the current weak economic conditions increased borrowing costs for everything from credit cards to mortgage rates is hardly advised.

Please, stick to your personal areas of expertise – if you have one.

Thanks a lot McCain you blundering imbecile, this was all due to McCain who needed a VP who was lower on the academic scale than he was. McCain left his military education second from the bottom of his class. Palin didn't even earn a degree. Is this who Americans want to steer the nation. Unless we want to become a third world nation, we need to change the political animal that is diseased today.

He is scaring the American people enough to let them know that the GOP is prepared to ruin the United States credit rating for political gain and its not right, not fair, and certainly NOT AMERICAN. They should be ashamed of themselves and he is making sure they feel it just as they are attempting to hold the Presiden't feet to the fire.
