Palin: Obama's 'fear mongering'

(CNN) - Sarah Palin accused President Obama of "scaring" the American people over the importance of raising the debt ceiling before the August 2 deadline.

"Scaring the American people is exactly what President Obama is doing," Palin said Tuesday night on Fox News. "The president's getting pretty good at this fear mongering and trying to cram down the public's throat this idea of bigger government, more spending."

Although the former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee said she respects House Speak John Boehner's efforts to negotiate with the president, she said there is a larger problem with his strategy.

"The internal problem that he has is reinventing the wheel here in the 11th hour, when we already have Cut, Cap and Balance that passed the House, and we don't need to retreat now and wave a white flag," Palin said.

The Republican-controlled House passed "Cut, Cap, and Balance," a plan that failed to pass the Democratic-controlled Senate last week. The pledge includes cuts and caps in spending and a balanced budget amendment to the constitution. Boehner is now trying to put forward a plan that includes the framework of the pledge in a deal that could become law. Obama is advocating for a "balanced approach" to the crisis that would combine spending cuts and no extension of Bush-era tax cuts for families making more than $250,000 a year.

Palin, who is considering a bid for the White House in 2012, has said raising the debt ceiling is inevitable, but that Republicans "better get something out of it."

"This August 2 deadline is looming, but it's not Armageddon, it's not life-or-death, so Boehner and the Republicans have got to make sure that they've got a good plan in front of those who will be voting on this plan," Palin said.

Ms. "Death Squads! Death Squads!" is complaining that Obama is using "fear mongering." Does she have a franchise on it or something?!?

Seriously, CNN should rename the "Ticker" to "Things Sarah Palin says about Obama" because that seems to be the main thing they report here. Stop giving her attention! She says inflammatory things to get attention. It seems she thinks that if she points fingers elsewhere then maybe nobody will notice that she has no idea what she's talking about. She's successful at it because our citizens have short attention spans!

Palin has it wrong the Republican Party is the party of BIG GOVERNMENT. They always take their attributes (non-desireable, of course) and yell that their opposers have them, thinking they are blowing a smoke-screen around themselves.

Yes, lets all go around not paying our bills, I'm sure the creditors would be really happy about that and would continue to lend money out like there's no tomorrow, even though they can't be sure they'll ever get paid back...watch out Bernanke Palin is gunning for your job...I always love to read any article where Palin speaks because its so funny that an adult could be wrong about soooo many things that even my 6 and 5 year olds know...

Too funny about Africa, I work with a young democrat (28) who thought Mexico was one of our states in the U. S.
Obama voted present while in the senate so that he didn't have to take a stand and have a record, or beliefs for that matter.
Obama and his Democrat congress and senate have failed for the last two years to create a 2011 budget plan, let alone present one or pass it!! That was their job and they had no obstacles!!! They failed and that is why we are where we are now.
Congress should cut their own pay, get rid of retirement plans for themselves, and use the same healthcare plan as all other government employees, maybe then they could focus on doing their jobs.
Palin was not a partisan governor, she was for all Alaskans. She took on the establishment, and yet the ignorant hate her for her looks, for the clothes she wears, etc. You may want to reprioritize.

OK MEDIA..... these comments clearly show what American thinks of this slag. When are YOU going to see the forrest thru the trees and STOP GIVING HER ANY PRESS COVERAGE? She is a know-nothing nobody. Do the kind thing, help her get over herself by instituting a moratorium on all things Palin, Bachmann, Cantor, Tea Party, and Yertle. Please, we are begging!

Oh sister sarah...you apparently haven't realized that your 15 minutes are over.

She has nothing of value to contribute. We're hearing enough sophomoric snark from Cantor et al, her two cents aren't necessary.

It is so clear that the Republcians hate Obama so much they are willing to play Russian Roulette with the world economy just so they try to blame this on on the President. I am so tired of this brinksmanship and need for power just for power's sake. John Boehner cannot control his own party's votes. They is nothing more destabilzing to our government than a weak and ineffectual Speaker of the House. We can survive bad presidents like Nixon, Bush and Harding (wow, they were all Republicans). We cannot survive indecisive legislators.

Sarah Palin is in a simple word, an idiot who has no grasp of anything more complex than a game of yahtzee She is a perfect example of the dumbing of America. I agree with one of the other comments. I guess if she says everything is alright and nothing bad is going to happen to me, then why should I worry. Besides she has enough money now to support us all. She is going to do that, right?

Fear mongering? C'mon now...isn't that GOP playbook Rule #1? Its all they do. First play the fear card, then wrap one's self in the US flag and secure it using a cross as a brooch. Mrs. Palin, you're living proof of the old adage..."tis best to say nothing and have people think you a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt". You've made your millions cashing in on your "popularity" but America is tired of you, your daughter and family, and your sister in arms Bachmann....please go away, cause you and the GOP are not even offering any real or credible solution, thus, you're part of the problem.

Why is she even in politics? The right place for her is the 'F'orn industry. Anyway, does CNN have a dedicated van and reporter for her or something? Why does she get reported for every silly thing she says or does? Is she providing any SERVICES to the CNN executives or something? DOJ should investigateany possible crimes CNN executives might be committing.

"Palin Blasts Obama!" Since she "blasts" often, perhaps she should be regarded as a serial terrorist. And what is her fixation with "cramming down the throat?"

CNN- Your readers are idiots! Let's stick to policies rather than hate-speech. Not a fan of Palin, but artificial deadlines and emergency bills in crisis are common with Obama- not even enough time to read the bill !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stimulus, Obamacare, no budget in 800 days, NO WRITTEN PLAN for this. This guy is a rookie, and if a CEO, I'd short the stock.

We do not need celebrities putting in their 2 cents worth on this issue.
so why don't you go back to Alaska! You can make cookies with Bachmann.

Since Boehner, McConnell, Cantor, and others have also said how disastrous t would be to go past the deadline, I guess Palin believes they are also fear-mongers. She is such an ignorant, self-centered hypocrite.

"In this case Palin in correct. Obama and the Democrats, in the absence of reason or facts, have resorted to fear. This isn't anything new with Democrats though, so it isn't much of a surprise"

Coming from someone who no doubt supports Peter King's McCarthyist muslim radicalization hearings and hopes to see footage of 9/11 at the GOP National Convention (again) next year, I think we can safely assume this is just more GOP/conservative psychological projection and defense-mechanism rationalization.
