Palin: Obama's 'fear mongering'

(CNN) – Sarah Palin accused President Obama of "scaring" the American people over the importance of raising the debt ceiling before the August 2 deadline.

"Scaring the American people is exactly what President Obama is doing," Palin said Tuesday night on Fox News. "The president's getting pretty good at this fear mongering and trying to cram down the public's throat this idea of bigger government, more spending."

Although the former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee said she respects House Speak John Boehner's efforts to negotiate with the president, she said there is a larger problem with his strategy.

"The internal problem that he has is reinventing the wheel here in the 11th hour, when we already have Cut, Cap and Balance that passed the House, and we don't need to retreat now and wave a white flag," Palin said.

The Republican-controlled House passed "Cut, Cap, and Balance," a plan that failed to pass the Democratic-controlled Senate last week. The pledge includes cuts and caps in spending and a balanced budget amendment to the constitution. Boehner is now trying to put forward a plan that includes the framework of the pledge in a deal that could become law. Obama is advocating for a "balanced approach" to the crisis that would combine spending cuts and no extension of Bush-era tax cuts for families making more than $250,000 a year.

Palin, who is considering a bid for the White House in 2012, has said raising the debt ceiling is inevitable, but that Republicans "better get something out of it."

"This August 2 deadline is looming, but it's not Armageddon, it's not life-or-death, so Boehner and the Republicans have got to make sure that they've got a good plan in front of those who will be voting on this plan," Palin said.

Sarah, you only offer complaints. get real and give some solutions to the problem. So that's right, you don't have any. Enough said.

Because of all politicians, Sarah Palin would never sink so low, do something so disgusting as trying to scare the American public.
    Oh ya, death panels

Sarah " Death Panels" Palin talks about fear mongering. How quaint. The President telling the truth about what could very well happen without a debt limit extension is different than Sarah's raving in that it is the truth and not a bald-face pack of lies.

Palin would know. She's been fear mongering her entire national career, with no facts to back it up. Obama isn't fear mongering, you idiotic moron, he's telling it like it is. The US won't be able to meet it's financial responsibilities because of your idiotic friends desire to make him fail.

Why, is anyone listening to the former 1/2 term governor of Alaska? If she is really in the running for president, why does she still get a paycheck from Fox News (since Santorem and Gingrich both had to give up their Fox jobs because they were in the running). Mrs. Palin seems to have a problem giving up the spotlight.

Well, it makes sense that someone who is incapable of a complex thought would not be able to conceive of what might happen if we go into default. What Obama is warning about is real. Now on the other hand, death panels are not considered fearmongering, are they Sarah?

Fear mongering? No, he didn't take a lesson out of your playbook. He is being truthful to the American people and preparing them for the worst case scenario. Remember, this is to cover the money that is already spent. Who ran up that credit card? Don't you have a red carpet event for your movie – NOT!

it is a scary situation sarah, it is frightful that we are so polarized that we can't see how important it is to work together. Avoiding what could be a financial catastrophe for this nation and it's people. And in all honesty you are no help in the matter what so ever.

You know what? Good. The American people NEED to be scared, because that is REALITY. They NEED to understand that failing to raise the is very freekin serious and has predictable and foreseeable repercussions for the US and world economies and our ability to run the country and take care of business for years to come. They NEED to understand and be very afraid of the consequences of continuing to support the partisan games being plaid, particularly by the GOP in its mindless, myopic and maddening obsession with making Obama a one term president and taking over our government in 2012. They NEED to hear the TRUTH....and the TRUTH is that failure to raise the debt ceiling or even continuing to play games such that our credit rating is downgraded is extremely damaging and dangerous degenerate nonsense.

And you know what? It's sinking in. They're starting to get it. They're starting to understand and the polls are showing it by shifting massively over the past couple weeks, which is why conseervative ideologue partisan hacks like Jaberwocky Barbie are getting scared and desperate and are trying to disinform the public to shift the blame and responsibility for this politically manufactured, wholely avoidable quasi-crisis.

She doesn't really...understand how the government works, does she? If Cut, Cap, and Balance dies in the Senate, Boehner has to look for another solution. And she doesn't understand that the debt ceiling has nothing to do with more spending, just paying bills for spending that already happened.

Yep, right on the money again, Sarah. President Obama, the IMF Chairman, and all the senior economists in the world. Now I know that your extended tour of pretty much every community college in the northwest over the seven or eight years it took for you to get your college degree did afford you many insights into international financial policy, but this is not like your extensive knowledge of world geography. This is stuff that is really important!
