Palin: Obama's 'fear mongering'

(CNN) – Sarah Palin accused President Obama of "scaring" the American people over the importance of raising the debt ceiling before the August 2 deadline.

"Scaring the American people is exactly what President Obama is doing," Palin said Tuesday night on Fox News. "The president's getting pretty good at this fear mongering and trying to cram down the public's throat this idea of bigger government, more spending."

Although the former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee said she respects House Speak John Boehner's efforts to negotiate with the president, she said there is a larger problem with his strategy.

"The internal problem that he has is reinventing the wheel here in the 11th hour, when we already have Cut, Cap and Balance that passed the House, and we don't need to retreat now and wave a white flag," Palin said.

The Republican-controlled House passed "Cut, Cap, and Balance," a plan that failed to pass the Democratic-controlled Senate last week. The pledge includes cuts and caps in spending and a balanced budget amendment to the constitution. Boehner is now trying to put forward a plan that includes the framework of the pledge in a deal that could become law. Obama is advocating for a "balanced approach" to the crisis that would combine spending cuts and no extension of Bush-era tax cuts for families making more than $250,000 a year.

Palin, who is considering a bid for the White House in 2012, has said raising the debt ceiling is inevitable, but that Republicans "better get something out of it."

"This August 2 deadline is looming, but it's not Armageddon, it's not life-or-death, so Boehner and the Republicans have got to make sure that they've got a good plan in front of those who will be voting on this plan," Palin said.

It's absolutely incredible to me that she could even believe the garbage that comes out of her own mouth. It's also incredible to me that she has any supporters at all in this country. And very depressing :[

Why doesn't Sarah go back to Alaska and try to finish her term as governor? That was too difficult for her–the debt ceiling and debt problem are way out of her (bush) league. The last time I checked, President Obama had been elected by the greatest number of votes ever cast for a presidential candidate, and Palin had quit on her elected job. She has the same right to criticize as any other citizen, but I see no reason why any sane person would pay any attention to her rants.

Sarah, look at your history of fear-mongering before you criticize someone else for it.

    Then STFup.

"Palin...has said raising the debt ceiling is inevitable, but that Republicans "better get something out of it."

Wow, I thought that Congress was supposed to look out for Americans as a whole. I'm really tired of the partisianship going on in this debate. Compromise is key to every serious issue. Some people will not be happy but we need to do what is best for America as a whole, not just a select few.

Yeah, what do all of those smart people know about anything anyway? They're just elitists. Only Sarah, who knows nothing, has all the answers. Is anybody really this dumb?

Beware of Palin Power, it is coming to a city near you. She will distinguish Barack Obama right out of the White House. Better Days are ahead of us.

What we all should learn from Sarah Palin and this whole debt debate is that the Repubs are hypocrits, period! If this Cut, Cap and Balance is so great, why doesn't Sarah come out and explain what all these cuts would actually me to the average american. We can't institute a fair set of tax reforms in 2013 and out because it will "destroy" the economy. But, interest rate hikes do to a lower credit rating doesn't matter. And, taking $100 billion out of spending now would slow the recovery. Wait, I just realized, maybe the repubs actually want to destroy the economy so they can blame it on Obama and retake the white house? No doubt. That is the only logical explanation for the childish behavior they are all displaying.

People, people! The "Guru-of-all" has provided us with more "pearls of wisdom" which she freely shares with all. For a price. But really folks, this "woman" has sold her soul for coin. Even some of her "fan-base" are starting to run for cover.
Should she be considered as relevant any longer?

    July 27, 2011 01:46 pm at 1:46 pm |

Wow I am embarrassed to think i once thought Palin looked kinda sexy. She is GROSS!!

But i've always found her stupid, ignorant and maybe one the worst people I could think of to be in government. She is however, perfect for FAUX news, for the above reasons.

    HHHmmmmmm. According to Reuters ...

"The first risk of a legitimate default is August 15," said Ward McCarthy, chief financial economist and managing director at Jefferies & Co. "Cash is not going to be an immediate problem. The debt ceiling space is not going to be an immediate problem."

so maybe Pain is right, August 2 is not the Armageddon. Too bad people just hate Palin so much that anything she says is wrong.

What does Palin think we should do? Bake brownies for the credit rating companies. Thats probably the first thing that she suggested. "Well I'll get to baking brownines to send over to the credit rating company that should keep them content until we get what we want for our corporate sponsors during the governement shutdown!" lmao

Obama is proposing cutting spending, not raising it. When one looks at the graphs showing Bush's spending vs. Obama's its clear both sides need to sacrifice, especially the Grand Old White Party. As usual former half term Gov. Palin sounds like she doesn't really know what she's talking about.

I am always amazed to see the media actually pay attention to this twit. Sarah Palin gets media coverage mostly, if not solely, because everyone wants to see what nonsense she will come out with next... And she never disappoints. Well, I guess it does have entertainment value, after all.

Once again the zipperhead from Alaska is spouting off about issues that she knows NOTHING about. Go away...please just go away. Call up Michelle Bachmann, go out for lunch, and solve the world's problems. Between the two of you you might figure out how to pay the check!
