Palin: Obama's 'fear mongering'

(CNN) – Sarah Palin accused President Obama of "scaring" the American people over the importance of raising the debt ceiling before the August 2 deadline.

"Scaring the American people is exactly what President Obama is doing," Palin said Tuesday night on Fox News. "The president's getting pretty good at this fear mongering and trying to cram down the public's throat this idea of bigger government, more spending."

Although the former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee said she respects House Speak John Boehner's efforts to negotiate with the president, she said there is a larger problem with his strategy.

"The internal problem that he has is reinventing the wheel here in the 11th hour, when we already have Cut, Cap and Balance that passed the House, and we don't need to retreat now and wave a white flag," Palin said.

The Republican-controlled House passed "Cut, Cap, and Balance," a plan that failed to pass the Democratic-controlled Senate last week. The pledge includes cuts and caps in spending and a balanced budget amendment to the constitution. Boehner is now trying to put forward a plan that includes the framework of the pledge in a deal that could become law. Obama is advocating for a "balanced approach" to the crisis that would combine spending cuts and no extension of Bush-era tax cuts for families making more than $250,000 a year.

Palin, who is considering a bid for the White House in 2012, has said raising the debt ceiling is inevitable, but that Republicans "better get something out of it."

"This August 2 deadline is looming, but it's not Armageddon, it's not life-or-death, so Boehner and the Republicans have got to make sure that they've got a good plan in front of those who will be voting on this plan," Palin said.

As someone living outside the US – it's frustrating to watch yet again as the GLOBAL economy – not just the US economy is about to be brought to its knees AGAIN! The US housing crisis caused the first global recession and this default it about to do it again. As someone living in a country where we pay higher taxes ... it's not as bad as you think. We have universal health care, social programs and people can still thrive and become wealthy.

I wish her sensationalist (and dumb) remarks wouldn't show up as headlines here. I know, I clicked on it. I come here for entertainment, I guess. The AP and the Washington Post are good news sources.

That IDIOT up there in Alaska doesn't know the first thing about passing laws. She fails to understand that simply because the House passed the Cut Cap and Balance bill does not make it law. I must defend her about the fear mongering because she would not know it if she saw it. Neither she nor the Greedy Old Pigs know anything about that process. She needs to go back to her Igloo and rub some more noses. About the only person dumber than this woman is ............. oh she does not have a twin sister.

The best way to get Obama re-elected is let that complete stupid idiot run against him. Can you imagine her in a real debate with questions from qualified journalist?

And how is it possible for her to say that it's not a big deal. It's a HUGE deal. If US defaults, interest rate, US credit, stock market will all be severely affected.

My Apologies to Palin on behalf of all Dems A.K.A "people with common sense". We forgot for a moment there that you Repugs had a Copyright on Fear Mongering as I can recall during GB's tenure and during 2008 campaigning how the Repugs resorted to fear mongering .. Paling around with T_error_rists etc.. Moreover only morons like you and the Teabaggers believe that the Earth is flat and that the Financial crisis following Debt default is a product of fiction. I for one believe that paying for Debt is our fundamental duty and obligation to our great nation. I cannot see Amerca default on Debt and lower itself in stature on the World Stage.

I don't understand why so many people continue to pay attention to Sarah Palin. She is completely unbalanced. She accuses Obama of fear mongering when he is simply telling the truth (the default of the US will have very negative consquences for the country) and yet she had no problem in doing precisely that when lying about health care reform (claiming that the reform would implement 'death panels').

You ever notice how the main topics of CNN's "political ticker" usually focus on Republicans? I think they do that so their hate-filled, left-wing lemmings have yet another opportunity to vent their irrational vitriol in a no consequence environment.

As FDR said 'the only thing you have to fear, is fear itself'. Ergo, Ms. Palin, as a professional fear-mongerer, the one person you should fear most is yourself.

Ms. Palin should focus on "her reality" TV and not tread into areas where she can do damage because of a lack of understanding.
