Palin: Obama's 'fear mongering'

(CNN) – Sarah Palin accused President Obama of "scaring" the American people over the importance of raising the debt ceiling before the August 2 deadline.

"Scaring the American people is exactly what President Obama is doing," Palin said Tuesday night on Fox News. "The president's getting pretty good at this fear mongering and trying to cram down the public's throat this idea of bigger government, more spending."

Although the former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee said she respects House Speak John Boehner's efforts to negotiate with the president, she said there is a larger problem with his strategy.

"The internal problem that he has is reinventing the wheel here in the 11th hour, when we already have Cut, Cap and Balance that passed the House, and we don't need to retreat now and wave a white flag," Palin said.

The Republican-controlled House passed "Cut, Cap, and Balance," a plan that failed to pass the Democratic-controlled Senate last week. The pledge includes cuts and caps in spending and a balanced budget amendment to the constitution. Boehner is now trying to put forward a plan that includes the framework of the pledge in a deal that could become law. Obama is advocating for a "balanced approach" to the crisis that would combine spending cuts and no extension of Bush-era tax cuts for families making more than $250,000 a year.

Palin, who is considering a bid for the White House in 2012, has said raising the debt ceiling is inevitable, but that Republicans "better get something out of it."

"This August 2 deadline is looming, but it's not Armageddon, it's not life-or-death, so Boehner and the Republicans have got to make sure that they've got a good plan in front of those who will be voting on this plan," Palin said.

To all Repugs who keep making Government look like a boogy man: The definition of Government: It is By the people, For the people, Of the people. Govt is never perfect we have to work towards making it perfect! Without Govt. private industries and business owners will have no checks and balances.. Industries will be dumping toxic waste everywhere.. no control on carbon emissions.. no control or oversight on Drug safety .. No standards .. Companies establishing monopoly on essential industry sectors thereby driving up costs on everything from life saving drugs to cost of care .. No Wallstreet regulations .. More Enrons .. MOre Lehmans .. inflation leading to slower growth leading to lawoffs and unprecedented unemployment. Don't expect Big business to be run by Saints. All they care for is their bottom line as they have shown time and again.

So what? Sarah Palin has no credibility on any issue whatsoever. CNN might as well report on what my eleven-year-old thinks about this bogus, made-up, invented "issue".

Let's take an earnest look at who broke the bank. This week, Ezra Klein, in The Washington Post, reported that the cost of policies that began under George W. Bush top out at more than $5 trillion - this includes long-term and recurring spending from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, decreases in revenue like the Bush tax cuts, as well as additions to the structural deficit like the Medicare prescription drug plan. The cost of policies beginning under President Obama top out at $1.44 trillion, and these policies are largely one-off, short term, or non-recurring spending - like the stimulus package.

    Reality check, Mrs. Palin....................

There is a part of me that wants the US to default if for not other reason but to show people like Sarah Palin and Carl Rove, and Grover Norquist, and all the other Tea Part extremists that they have no clue what they are talking about! Unfortunately, the old saying of "Bad planning on your part doesn't constitute a crisis on my part" doesn't hold true in this case. I would constitute a crisis for all of us! We would be the ones suffering from their lack of understanding of economics or willingness to listen to the experts!!!!!

You might not like Palin, but it's true. Obama has lead this country using fear and crisis. He slanders those that disagree. The democrats are responsible for much of the situation that we are in now. Obama's foolish spending increased the debt $3T in less than 3 years.

What do democrats have against cutting spending, capping debt and living responsibly?

Of course it's not "life or death" to you, Sarah! You have your millions. But it could be "life or death" to a lot of poor old people who rely on their paltry Social Security checks to be able to survive. This woman and her ilk represent all that is despicable about conservatives: "I got mine, so screw you!"

@Just as I thought... You're right, How dare Obama make you show your true racist colors. How dare he cause you to act like America-hating idiots? How dare he make you be so blatant in your obstruction to anything he does for no good reason? How dare Obama expose that you're hypocrits for waiting until a black man takes office to find any of this stuff to be of great concern.

That dang Obama. How dare he?

Even in this hour of grave national crisis, you can always count on Sarah to pop up out of nowhere and add a little levity. On the one hand, I wish the media would ignore this know-nothing, do-nothing dolt. But let’s face it, we’d all miss the comic relief.

""...we already have Cut, Cap and Balance that passed the House, and we don't need to retreat now and wave a white flag," Palin said.

The former Governor shows, once again, that she has no idea how government works. The Tea Party group may say "jump" and she asks "how high?" but in Congress, just because one group wants or passes something, it doesn't mean it will pass the full body or survive a veto. Boehner knows this and that is why he has backed off and trying something else that may pass.
