Gov. Christie expects to leave hospital soon

(CNN) - New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie checked into a hospital Thursday morning after he had difficulty breathing, the governor's press secretary, Michael Drewniak, said in a statement.

"In line with someone dealing with asthma, he is being given routine tests as a precautionary measure," Drewniak said.

Spokeswoman Maria Comella said Thursday afternoon that Christie is "fully alert and in charge" and that he was expected to leave Somerset Medical Center in the evening.

Comella told reporters that Christie received tests but no formal treatment, and that he would be back to work Friday morning.

She said the governor was able to walk into the emergency room even as he had difficulty breathing.

Not a fan by any means, but I would never wish ill of someone. Hope he is on his way to a speedy recovery.

And for those saying he should be in the White House: Yeah, we totally need an anti-woman, homophobe who thinks we don't need actual revenue (read: taxes) in the coffers to survive running things. GREAT idea.

bad governor – typical my way or the highway republican, and could care less about the people of the state of NJ – if you don't agree with him you better not even talk to him! – 2 words – lose weight! and breathing won't be an issue!

Well you know that GLUTTONY is one the seven deadly sins you HYPOcrite! I neither pray for your health or sickness. You should thank the President that gives you the option to have health care that you and republican counterparts try to deny others.

Asthma? How about those extra 100-150 pounds he is slogging around? Heart attack is more like it. Regardless of what you think of his politics it is refreshing to have someone speak their mind even though he is still a wolf in sheep's clothing. Listen, running a state is nothing like running the federal governement and if you think it is you have another thing coming.

"I love the kind comments people are wishing the Governor, regardless of whether or not they disagree or agree with his politics. Posters like these people are truly compassionate, decent human beings and I wish them all health and happiness in their lives! Also, hope Governor Christie feels better too! "

I couldn't agree more – I am not a fan of the governor either but wish him well and hope he feels better soon.
