Palin to Congress: Remember your values (and what I said last November)

(CNN) - Sarah Palin reminded Republican freshmen members of Congress Thursday of the promises they made during their 2010 campaigns and encouraged them to remain true to their fiscally conservative values as Congress debates an increase to the debt ceiling.

On her Facebook page, the former Alaska governor reprinted a letter she sent the then-newly elected members in November 2010 that called on them to tackle the deficit and entitlement programs to "avert a fiscal disaster."

"Republicans campaigned on a promise to rein in out-of-control government spending," Palin wrote in 2010. "These are promises that you must keep."

In her new post, Palin asked the representatives who received backing from the tea party movement to remember those who propelled their candidacies.

"I respectfully ask these GOP Freshman to re-read this letter and remember us 'little people' who believed in them, donated to their campaigns, spent hours tirelessly volunteering for them, and trusted them with our votes," Palin wrote. "This new wave of public servants may recall that they were sent to D.C. for such a time as this."

Palin, who is considering a bid for the White House in 2012, has said raising the debt ceiling is inevitable, but that Republicans "better get something out of it." She has also been a proponent of the "Cut, Cap, and Balance" pledge passed through the Republican-controlled House and failed in the Senate.

If the tea party worked to reform government spending rather than treating it like a TV reality show, they might have enjoyed some legitimacy. But look who their spokes model is.

Darrell: Anything Palin says is blasted because we dont like her, BUT a lot of the things she says is true. Case in point, the Paul Revere thing, She was called an idiot by "news" sources that should know better but in fact she was 100% CORRECT. In writings Revere wrote approx 10yrs later he did say was of the thoughts behind his famous rant was to in fact warn the British.

Are you serious?! Keep rewriting history in order to feel better about agreeing with Palin. Your are what's wrong with this country. Too many people see the world as they want, not how it is.

You all better not forget what Momma told you. Who does she think she is?

Dear Freshmen Representatives – during your campaigns, you made promises to the voters. You signed a pledge as to what you would do. Then you got elected & just like Mr. Smith, you went to Washington. Upon arrival, you found that things were not so "cut and dried" or "black or white" as you'd thought. Now you (or those of you who are capable of rational thought anyway) realize that maybe you'll have to compromise. But wait – you made promises and signed a pledge. So you'll hold fast to the "no new taxes" and let the country go down in flames – while totally disregarding the wishes of the majority of American voters.

It's amazing but the American voter can be intelligent and understanding (rabid extremists aside.) Do the right thing to avert disaster. Work together with all factions to see if a resolution can be reached. Explain why this was given up – and what was GAINED as a result. In other words DO YOUR JOB – which, by the way, is not simply to do what you can to get re-elected.

Considering the FACT that only 1.4 Trillion of the US debt is from new spending during Obama's term, I hardly see why we need to give anything up to the republicans to be able to raise the debt ceiling. The last president accumulated over 5 Trillion in new spending during his 8 yrs. The rest is legacy.

Anybody here who thinks I'm wrong had better prove otherwise. Don't just post some BS that you can't back up but want to believe.

Translation from Palin blabber to english: Remember your Republican values, freshmen. Remember that we want the ultra rich to prevail, even on the backs of the elderly and poor. Remember we only speak of Christian values, but we certainly do not need to act like Christians. Remember that our only goal is to see President Obama fail, even if it means the destruction of the American Economy. Remember that a true Republican Patriot does what he's told, even if it looks and smells of treason.

How can this woman feel she has the right to advise anyone ? I mean, she can't even keep her own facts straight. And how can these freshman "lawmakers' possibly take her seriously when she can't even commit to a decision on being a wannabee contender for POTUS.

Palin, us "little people" are going to put the crosshairs target over your face just like you did to Gabby Gifford. You see sarah, you can never, ever distance yourself from what happened to Gabby

I am so sick and tired of this woman inserting her "snout" into any current crisis just so she can remain irrelevant. She knows how to play the media to her advantage. Whenever her policy positions are questioneed, she either ignores it or claims that its sexism or liberalism. Someone need to confront her face to face at one of her sham events and challenge her directly on the merits of what she's been claiming . Then they should post it online (you tube e.g)

Palin, if she runs, will win.I prefer her to some Chicago street thug, who couldn't tell the truth if his life depended on it. I had hoped Obama would do some good, but I have been very disappointed. And please leave Bush out of this, that nimrod has been gone for almost 3 years.Palin or Bachman seem like the only two that will sack up and do something.Should be interesting.

She would never run for the presidency. She would have to debate Obama. He speaks English. The jury's still out on what language she speaks.

Why is this woman's word being taken for any authority or importance whatsoever, and being endlessly promoted' by today's tabloid journalism. She holds no job, no office, simply another 'talking head' that keeps TV/online broadcasters/networks masquerading as 'News'! Bring back Walter Cronkite and just give me the facts and get rid of these 'fanatics'!

Why does the media keep giving this woman any form of relevance? Sarah, you are not presidential material, you have no solutions because I doubt you even understand the problems and most of us are sick of listening to your inane jargon. Go home! Take care of your kids and your grandkids and stop wasting our time!

she is touting the values and wisdom of the tea party...the very ones that are refusing to raise the debt ceiling and would rather the country go down in flames when the government defaults

If Palin and the tea party representatives end up being responsible for "our" debt ceiling default and there are reprecussionsfrom their actions, I believe that they should all be arrested at least on terrorism charges, if not a form of treason. I consider this an attack on our financial system and they should be delt with.

Raise the debt ceiling, but "Republicans better get something out of it."

That, in a nutshell, is what's wrong with this country. That is beyond pathetic. I currently respect Snookie more than the Republicans.

I find it hard to believe that as a Governor Palin would have supported "Cut, Cap and Balance". Alaska is so dependent upon federal government funds (even after oil revenues), the restrictions of "Cut, Cap and Balance" would likely cause federal spending cuts that would have a very averse impact on Alaska's economy.

What will $arah say when her $417,000.00 Freddie/Fannie mortgage rate increases due to America's credit rating downgrade? I suppose the TeaPeople, who's mortgage rates will also go up, will just blame President Obama. Typical Teapublicans. Cut off their noses to spite their face. Really TeaPeople, you claim to be American Patriots, yet you have no qualms with destroying America and the global economy along with it. Sounds more like treason then patriotism to me.

She holds no office; she is not a candidate; she has proven herself practically illiterate on countless occasions; she hardly knows how to speak the language. Why does her opinion matter in this or any other critical national issue? She's a dumb loser, literally, and should have NO place on the national stage at this point. Just look at that face–self-righteous and crazy all at the same time.
