(CNN) – Sarah Palin reminded Republican freshmen members of Congress Thursday of the promises they made during their 2010 campaigns and encouraged them to remain true to their fiscally conservative values as Congress debates an increase to the debt ceiling.
On her Facebook page, the former Alaska governor reprinted a letter she sent the then-newly elected members in November 2010 that called on them to tackle the deficit and entitlement programs to "avert a fiscal disaster."
"Republicans campaigned on a promise to rein in out-of-control government spending," Palin wrote in 2010. "These are promises that you must keep."
In her new post, Palin asked the representatives who received backing from the tea party movement to remember those who propelled their candidacies.
"I respectfully ask these GOP Freshman to re-read this letter and remember us 'little people' who believed in them, donated to their campaigns, spent hours tirelessly volunteering for them, and trusted them with our votes," Palin wrote. "This new wave of public servants may recall that they were sent to D.C. for such a time as this."
Palin, who is considering a bid for the White House in 2012, has said raising the debt ceiling is inevitable, but that Republicans "better get something out of it." She has also been a proponent of the "Cut, Cap, and Balance" pledge passed through the Republican-controlled House and failed in the Senate.

Sure – easy for her to say. She's not on the hook for anything. It's all just political posturing for her.
Who in the world is listening to this lady and why is she wasting her breath? She's not a candidate, she's not a member of Congress and she quit her job as governor of Alaska, so why does she think her voice deserves to posted on CNN (and why is CNN posting it)? We all have our opinions and you don't see the average Joe making headlines. That's what Sarah is – an average Joe who's trying to milk her 15 minutes of fame into as many millions as possible.
Isn't it time the Tea Party actually became an official party? or are they scared?
Oh trust me, Palin didn't think this up. She knows nothing about federal politics.
She should probably actually know what she is talking about. She is smart in this aspect, she knows how to use her looks and has used it to her full advantage because if she was not as attractive, no one would be paying attention.
I hope she does run for President. If she doesn't, we'll be listening to her sniping drivel for decades. Get it over with already! Put your candidacy where your mouth is if you really hold your beliefs and values in such high regard, Sarah. Or is this just another money-grab?
SHUT UP. If she looked like Rosanne Barr would anyone care?
She seems very intelligent and I know she has a lot of business and economics background. I feel like she has her finger on the pulse of this situation and will offer up a solution any minute now. I do soooo admire her.
Remember guys! Destroy the lifeboats for firewood and sink the ship while you're at it! NO COMPROMISE!
Go away, Sarah Palin!
Why doesn't this ignorant moron shut up? Every time I hear or read anything about her I feel like throwing up? She is pathetic, money hungry and not even a patriot.
As usual, quick to open her mouth, but never with a plan in hand.
IMPEACH PALIN NOW ~ IMPEACH PALIN NOW ~ IMPEACH PALIN NOW !
oh yeah, i forgot she didnt get elected to anything
Yesterday's story. WAKE UP CNN!!! Surely something has happened since 4:30 last night. Why is this one on the top of the heap?
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God"
What a bimbo....
Why are we forced to endure this moron. And, Robert, the only balls this woman has are bouncing between her ears.
After reading the comments made about Sarah Palin, I realize that the majority of the people who commented has figured out that Sarah is all about herself. Finally people are seeing her for what she really is, that is refreshing. What's not refreshing is the fact that all my monies that are tied up in the stock market, which is starting to drop. If this debt doesn't get raised there will be such a great financial hardship on everyone. You can always count on one thing, if Sarah is saying it, its not true, its just a way to get media attention. I wish that the news agencies would NOT give her the time of day!
She is now one of the rich, making millions and doesn't want her taxes to go up.
The problem with America today is that one party is taking its marching orders clueless individuals such as "Sarah Palin" (I'm being kind in my characterization). When the dust settles, the current Republican party brand with it's fanatical tea party wing will be booted out of office and forced to reinvent itself into a relevant part of a two party political system. That is the only "silver lining" to this invented "debt ceiling" crisis.
Who is Sarah Palin..and why does ANYONE care what she says? I think it's funny that anyone bothers to cover what this person has to say about anything...shouldn't she be doing dishes or cooking or something?
If Republicans didn't know that the people who vote for them were uninformed dullards who cannot understand what's really happening and only believe what they're told to believe, they'd never risk this disaster they're creating. Republicans WANT this country to fail because they think Obama will get blamed for it, and after having elected Bush they're desperate for the other party to be seen as no better.
And if they're voters weren't that dim, someone like Sarah Palin would never be considered a "star" in their party. Republicans are trying to create an idiocracy and profit from it. They have nothing real to offer. If you ever think conservatives do a better job running things, look at the results the South has gotten from electing them for decades. I live in Mississippi, and we're the last in everything, because of Republican policies. That's what you get when you trust these evil theocratic clowns.
Palin should remember the promises she made to her constituents in the State of Alaska, THEN QUIT ON THEM, before she reminds anyone to keep promises on anything!
Sarah...your "values" obviously don't include one of the most basic of most Americans, integrity, since your are imploring the tea party to cause America to default on its existing obligations for the first time in history. We will all pay a terrible price for the arrogance and ignorance of Sarah and her followers.
Brainless leading the clueless. By all means, keep that pledge and violate your OATH.
Is there *anyone* who cares what Sarah says? Anyone?
