(CNN) – Sarah Palin reminded Republican freshmen members of Congress Thursday of the promises they made during their 2010 campaigns and encouraged them to remain true to their fiscally conservative values as Congress debates an increase to the debt ceiling.
On her Facebook page, the former Alaska governor reprinted a letter she sent the then-newly elected members in November 2010 that called on them to tackle the deficit and entitlement programs to "avert a fiscal disaster."
"Republicans campaigned on a promise to rein in out-of-control government spending," Palin wrote in 2010. "These are promises that you must keep."
In her new post, Palin asked the representatives who received backing from the tea party movement to remember those who propelled their candidacies.
"I respectfully ask these GOP Freshman to re-read this letter and remember us 'little people' who believed in them, donated to their campaigns, spent hours tirelessly volunteering for them, and trusted them with our votes," Palin wrote. "This new wave of public servants may recall that they were sent to D.C. for such a time as this."
Palin, who is considering a bid for the White House in 2012, has said raising the debt ceiling is inevitable, but that Republicans "better get something out of it." She has also been a proponent of the "Cut, Cap, and Balance" pledge passed through the Republican-controlled House and failed in the Senate.

The national deficit we have is because republicans always increase the deficit to pay for wars. They never raise taxes to pay for them. They make them go unpaid and then they want the midle class to pay for it. If tea party wants to pay down the deficit go tell them to get it from teh people who have it, the top 1%.

And her followers might be loud, but they're nowhere near a majority, in either the GOP or this country.
Wow, she ha been completely marginalized but yet CNN continues to put her on the front page. This is my belief. I always wanted to believe that CNN was balanced. It was left a little bit but they have right representation. I think this shows them as far left. They only put Palin on here to paint a false picture that this is the "tea party movement" or "this is the republicans". Just as they excluded Gary Johnson from the republican debate, they want the republicans to appear as freakish as possible. Not unfortunately the repub are freakish, but they have some voices of reason (like Gary Johnson). The last thing CNN wants is for them to appear reasonable.
If the liberal press would stop following her around, she'd go away.

Raising the debt ceiling does NOT mean incurring more debt. I realize it might sound like that, but they are separate issues.

@Robert...with all due respect, what was the media's "job" in this? This is a financial crisis, Robert. The media didn't create it, and they're not going to be able to do anything to resolve it. As for Palin "delivering"...she delivers nothing except uneducated platitudes. And I say that as a registered Republican.
The Tea Party is little more than a legion of retirees shouting "Keep the government out of my Medicaid". Anyone who truly holds that kind of philosophy is in no way qualified to run the country, and has very little chance of pulling us out of the current disaster. Unfortunately, expenses will have to be cut and some taxes raised if we're going to rid ourselves of this ridiculous debt. Fighting tool and nail with the other side of the aisle isn't going to get it done. Hyper-partisan politics must come to an end, or we will.
