Palin to Congress: Remember your values (and what I said last November)

(CNN) – Sarah Palin reminded Republican freshmen members of Congress Thursday of the promises they made during their 2010 campaigns and encouraged them to remain true to their fiscally conservative values as Congress debates an increase to the debt ceiling.

On her Facebook page, the former Alaska governor reprinted a letter she sent the then-newly elected members in November 2010 that called on them to tackle the deficit and entitlement programs to "avert a fiscal disaster."

"Republicans campaigned on a promise to rein in out-of-control government spending," Palin wrote in 2010. "These are promises that you must keep."

In her new post, Palin asked the representatives who received backing from the tea party movement to remember those who propelled their candidacies.

"I respectfully ask these GOP Freshman to re-read this letter and remember us 'little people' who believed in them, donated to their campaigns, spent hours tirelessly volunteering for them, and trusted them with our votes," Palin wrote. "This new wave of public servants may recall that they were sent to D.C. for such a time as this."

Palin, who is considering a bid for the White House in 2012, has said raising the debt ceiling is inevitable, but that Republicans "better get something out of it." She has also been a proponent of the "Cut, Cap, and Balance" pledge passed through the Republican-controlled House and failed in the Senate.

I hope people understand that cut cap & balance. Means everything is cut 2 its core-barebones. If & when the economy improves the cap is placed 2 never rise or add 2 it again. So cuts 2 education, va etc will never get 2 functioning state again!

What does this leader of the republican party know about values. Oops, I forgot, she is second in command to Rush Limbaugh.

It is obvious Gov. Palin or someone very close to her is talking to Scott Conroy. He broke the story about the Undefeated, and now he is the first to report Gov. Palin going back to Iowa. Seems to me our media would give this guy an interview.

Yes... let's make sure we get something out of raising the debt ceiling! This is gold... we're not just going to give it away... much too valuable! We want more tax cits for the wealthy of this country!!.... This sort of sounds like the same thing Blogovich (sp?) did with a senate seat and there are bars waiting for him. Sidebar here... why is it the ones who support tax cuts for the top earners and corporate America are wealthy themselves? Conflict of interest?? Face it middle America... unless we... all of us... join together to stop the plundering of our lower and middle class... we're all screwed. Vote... vote...vote. Vote for your future... the elite and big business care nothing about you.

What an absolute POS. Wake up America!!! I can't believe anyone above the level of a moron gives any credibility to this scamming witch. She's laughing all the way to the bank, knowing that she doesn't have a snowball's chance.

Palin can't make any promises on debt/deficit, she's limited and went into hiding while Bachmann has been all the heavy lifting. Palin's been praying these talks would disappear so she can put nothing into them. Palin should be ashame to show her mug after commenting that President Obama was responsible for the TARP bailout in 2008 which everyone knows that was George W. Bush's puppy. God help this country, Palin is the dummiest idiot on the planet.

Yeah and like marines she has a very low IQ with technical proficiency lacking. She has not business criticizing Obama when she couldn't even complete her term in a state where nobody lives.

So having the country lose its AAA credit rating which raises the cost of borrowing to all of us and incresing the debt even further is being fiscally prudent? This woman and her ilk are idiots.

Don't be a quitter like me. Don't go back on your oath of office like me. Just remember to do as I say and not as I do. What a joke this woman is. Normally, I never read anything about any of the Palin's any longer, but just had to see her advice to the GOP. She did not disappoint in her disconnect.

but Sarah Palin seems strangely SILENT on the comments that John McCain made eairlier about the "Tea Party hobbits". Looks like she still knows how to pick her battles. If President Obama had said what McCain said she would be all over him on FoxNews and FaceBook about it.

Yeah, asking people to "stick to their values" is the same as asking them not to compromise. But our Founding Fathers, "Ms Patriot," demanded of us that we work together to solve the country's problems, not make them worse. What will "sticking to your values" result in? Nothing but bickering, which is what we have right now in Congress. "Sticking to your values" sounds wonderful, but it takes an adult to understand that it leads to disaster. Do democrats want to compromise? No. Are we revolted by the cuts we see? Yes. So why are we willing to compromise? Because we are adults who understand that you can't always get everything you want in this life. Republicans, by comparison, are acting like immature little brats who believe they are ENTITLED to every single thing they want. Grow up, Republicans. COMPROMISE! You got us into this mess to begin with (check the national debt records spanning the last 4 decades as I have done).

Our economy is very fragile. If the Tea Party people are listening to this nitwit, Our economy will go over the cliff. Please people remember what happened in September of 2008. All of the leaders around the World created a stimulus of their own. China, Germany and Australia are doing well. Many of those Countries installed a much larger stimulus. The differrence is that none of them had the obstructionist Tea Party. Just look at what has happened since the 2010 elections. We have all of those Tea Party backed Congressmen who are in lockstep with the TPs demands and talking poiAnts. In plain words, they are ignorant and the very fact that they have all signed pledges to Grover Norquist is insanity. They were sent there to represent all Americans, not just the Tea Party. The TP does not represent a majority in this Country. The Tea Party is not a grass roots movement, they are bankrolled by the very rich. They have been bussed in to hold up their ignorant signs. I hope that we all can last until the next election and then send every last one of them packing. America cannot default.

Palin should remember who got us into this mess. It was Bush. Two unpaid for wars. A Medicare prescription drug plan unfunded. Unfunded tax breaks for the rich and big business which did nothing but drive our economy into the groud. Yet, they only become concerned about spending when a Black Democrat is in office. They want their country back to do what – destroy it even more???

    @ Robert.......
keep wishing Sarah Palin will NEVER call President Obama out for a debate because that is not how she operates. She uses the cover of FoxNews, FaceBook and Twitter to make her snarky remarks, she won't even talk to anybody but FoxNews or another conservative media like CBN. Obama would mop the floor with Palin, heck MICHELLE OBAMA would mop the floor with Palin for that matter.

You have got to be kidding me!! First, lady, those ain't values, they are a bunch of over-repeated sound bites. As far as remembering what you said last November, I don't remember it and most likely other folks don't either. What was it you said last week? I don't remember that either, but I know you inserted your wisdom yet again. You may have restated whatever it was in the article, but the title was enough to send me to other reading material. Who is she?!!

  24. Palin Power

BEHOLD our next and greatest President Sarah Palin! We need her in the White House for 8 years. Only she has the power from God Herself to completely fix this whole fiscal mess. She will have the budget balanced in her 1st year and create surpluses in the next 7 years. Her surpluses will surpass Clinton's with less taxes than Dubya. She will create more jobs with Palinomics and drive our unemployment, deficits, national debt and debt ceiling down to ZERO!
