Fox News hosts: Palin 'pulled punches' admission a 'joke'

(CNN) - Two Fox News Channel hosts said Thursday they were joking when they previously claimed they felt awkward about commenting on former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin because she's a fellow Fox employee.

"The only problem with talking about Sarah Palin is that she works here, and it's like a co-worker," said Greg Gutfeld, co-host of "The Five," the network's show on Wednesday. "And if I say something bad and I see her in the hallway, I feel really awkward and wrong, so I just kind of say, 'good job'."

Co-host Bob Beckel agreed, saying he'd also held back his criticism of Palin, a Fox News contributor who makes more than $1 million per year from the network. Palin is flirting with a run for president in 2012.

"It has nothing to do with that, it has everything to do with your paycheck. That's what you feel awkward about," Beckel said. "I know exactly what you mean. I'll be honest: I've pulled my punches on her."

After the comments spread on the internet, the hosts during Thursday's show replayed the remarks and clarified that they were joking. Republican panelist Dana Perino referred to the segment as a "mea culpa."

"So you make one joke and left-wing sites… go crazy because they're so desperate for any kind of Palin anecdote–that's like their heroin," said Gutfeld.

Co-host Beckel, a Democrat, touted his record of criticizing Palin on Fox in the past and said Wednesday's comments were a way to break up some of the tediousness on the show. "We were joking," he said.

"Everybody happy now? Good," Beckel said as their comments came to a close.

Beckel is a long-time Democratic operative and commentator while Gutfeld is a conservative television host. The two are among a cast of rotating hosts on the Fox show that bills itself as a discussion and debate of the day's top stories.

The original Wednesday exchange followed a playback of Palin's comments Tuesday night over reports that Vice President Joe Biden had likened tea party activists to terrorists.

In Palin's response, she said President Barack Obama should look into his own past with Bill Ayers if he wants to see "domestic terrorists."

She makes $1,000,000 a year for her uneducated often incendiary comments, doesn't anyone see anything wrong with this?

  6. Blame the Clueless Palin

Our economy is tanking because of Sarah Palin. She got uneducated, ignorant white trash to vote for the people who have wrecked our economy. The Republicans and Tea Party Anarchists have not been representatives of the people. They have been supporting the rich corporations and wealthy who finance there attack ads. Sure the Koch Brothers are to blame for the starting of the Tea Party and for the financial support of this terrorist organization. Sure they finance the John Birch Society and supported Sarah Palin. Lucky for us she falled as governor and as a Vice Presidential candidate.

Just goes to show that Fox isn't really a news organization. They stay in business pandering to the anti-Obama faction – constantly working to prevent his reelection. They have more in common with the Comedy Chanel – just not nearly as good at being as funny as Stewart and Cobert.

This simply goes to show that not everyone at FOX NOISE is as stupid as that former Gov Sarah Airhead. She is nothing more than a vile, vindictive, ignorant troublemaker. THis woman is so dumb, she had to attend 5 different colleges to be able to combine them all for one BS degree and trust me, it is a "BS" Degree. After 5 colleges, she is full of "BS". She is the only American that is known to have failed Rosetta Stone-English.

As much as everybody universally hates FNC, they beat CNN, MSNBC and other news networks in the ratings – it isn't even close. They beat them for every age group, at every time slot, and not by a small margin. Normally they have 3 times as many viewers as the next closest competetor. Hate away.

What have the Rethugs done for you lately if you are not rich?? NOTHING! What happen to conservative job creation policies. The only ones that are winning are the very rich.

As if CNN doesn't do the same thing. Remember how CNN conveniently left Spitzer's name out of the sex-scandal politicians list? Hypocrites.

Because, in the grand scheme of things, it's the content of a comedian's opinion is what's important.

The obligatory Palin ticker item to take the sting out of the ever-increasing bad news for Obama, today being a 300+ point drop in the Dow.
    -------------------------------------------------–
This drop in the DOW has everything to do with the terrorists republican party holding the economy hostage. The people see who is responsible for this and will hold the terrorists accountable. I can care less about Al Queda. I'm more concerned with Al Teapublica.

The were always soft with PResident Bush, Cheney and all of those war criminals. They were soft for speaking out against them invading Iraq for not reason and killing over 800,000 Iraqis and over 12,000 US soldiers. They were soft for allowing them to get us into the deep and depressing US economy. They were soft for allowing them to divided our nation so wide. YES THEY WERE SOFT!!
