July jobs report: Hiring picks up

,

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) - The job market strengthened in July, a welcome piece of good news that sharply contrasted other recent data pointing toward an economic slowdown.

Employers added 117,000 jobs last month, easily topping the 75,000 gain economists surveyed by CNNMoney had predicted. And the unemployment rate improved slightly to 9.1 percent.

Really? It fell? That was definitely not in the plan for the right wing extremists. Lower unemployment will spell an Obama re-election, which is not their often stated goal. "Make Obama a one term President." A goal that they will fail to achieve because of their own efforts to make it so.

And the GOP will lament the gains, and concentrate their efforts on stagnating and killing the economy.

Americans should "Take their money out of these super banks, and deposit in their local Community owned "Credit Unions" We need to Tank the large banks, Boycot BP Oil,Exxon-Mobile, buy gas from small community stations. This is bad news for the Republicans – they actually want the unemployment rate to keep going up. This is the reason why they held America HOSTAGE (wow, this is a talking point from the Democrats – maybe we should stick with it like the RIGHT stuck with “CUT the CrAP and it’s not BALANCEd” bill!!!) before lifting the Debt ceiling – Combining that with DEBT reduction; they knew DEBT REDUCTION is a “job killer” and as long as the unemployment remains HIGH – they THINK they will succeed in making President Obama a “one-term” President……………………NOT!!!

They don’t care that the markets CRASHED because they are the ones that CRASHED IT – “get your money and RUN because WE know what is going to happen because WE set the stage”!!! Congress’ approval rating is only at 14% – The RIGHT got 98% of what they wanted and 97% of that is what you are witnessing today in the markets.

WHERE ARE THE JOBS??? The REPUBS said that by leaving TAX BREAKS for the RICH in place – Job Growth is guaranteed!!! Corporations are sitting on TRILLIONS of DOLLARS in profit and they are NOT hiring – a trickle here and a trickle there.

STOP the corruption in Congress – vote the Republicans OUT in 2012!!!

While not nearly enough, this is hopefully the beginning of a trend. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

As our middle class goes (outsourced or retained domestically), so goes our economy. You need a healthy middle class to have a healthy demand for goods & services.

Good news–until the number is revised again next week! And when that happens, as per their past practice, not a single news outlet will retract or revise their previous stories. What a scam!

  10. Republicans - The Not Intended To Be Factually Accurate" Party

All reputable networks [CBS, ABC, NBC, PBS, CNN] should get in the habit of displaying a column chart monthly which shows how many jobs were lost or created. This is more accurate than a singular "unemployment rate" which is distorted by who did or ddn`t file; who is or isn`t tired of looking for a job.

This chart should show the American people trends going back 4 years. Trends indicate managerial effectiveness. The chart should color columns from Republican administrations RED and the Democrats BLUE. A horizontal line should be struck across the chart shoowing the minimum number of jobs need to match the net new workers that are entering the workforce. Special events [like the passing of the Stimulus] should be annotated on the chart so that we can see what is "job creating" vs what is "job-killing".

Our problems with Congress is the "spinning". The public needs a consitent, visual yardstick like this that allows people (voters) to make informed, objective decisions.

The so-called "fair & balanced" propaganda network would never show this unless it told an anti-Obama story and even then, their low IQ voters would have to have someone explain it to them.

To the others, distinguish yourselves by raising your standards and report dashboard metrics which show TRENDS.

Of course. In July, American businesses saw hope. They saw that Republicans were going to get some control of government spending as a part of the debt ceiling increase. They saw that tax increases were not going to be a part of that deal. There is no doubt that businesses are running with just the smallest number of employees to do the job. It is not easy. But even more difficult is making a comittment of hiring new employees when there are just negative signs about the future of the economy. Positive signs are powerful and we saw positive signs last month.

The truth is in the details.......show us the tally of jobs, and let us see what KINDS of jobs are included. Also, are these full time jobs? The trouble with this administration, is that they manipulate their figures, and lie to us, with information that is that genuinely truthful.

We have had more than enough burger flipping at McDonald's, etc. being used as an example of jobs growth.

The Tea Party controlled Republicans will hate this news, they were praying for a decline in job numbers and it will drive them nuts. They will spin this off to Health Care or somethoing else and try and hoodwink everyone into thinking this is bad news

When you set the bar at ankle level it is easy to clear it. When the real numbers come in they won't be near that high and at least 50% of them will be at McDonald's just like a couple months ago.

And then the markets saw the bill that Republcans pushed through and the markets tanked. Haven't you noticed that *everything* has been tanking since Republicans took over the House? No? Well, most of America has noticed it, and they will put an end to it.

Another media attempt to cover reality. The jobless number dropped as a result of the jobless workers giving up hope. A scam by the labor dept. to fool the American people.
The Washington politicans are only interested in reelection. That is both dems and repubs.

A never satisfied people of America . . . loom and doom mindset. Created by the far right. In order to topple this president, thus bringing the whole of America, mostly the middle class, down with him. This is class warfare and we the people are consider as just collateral damage. We are in the big game and Obama will be the "Unsung Hero" History will show!

What they saw where signs of a compromise that included raising revenue. When it began to look like that revenue would stay off the table, the markets began to falter. When the final bill came out with no revenue, the markets tanked. Facts speak for themselves.

Well, if the circumstances are so grave, how come not one of the Republican candidates has cancelled their campaign to help fix the economy?

The truth is that the jobless number dropped because of the fact that job seakers gave up and stopped looking for work.
More fiction form the media and the government

Indeed...it was, as Boehner said himself..."98% of what I wanted."

You talking about the GOP's/Teatrolls' game of ideological limbo? "How low can we go"? I mean, considering they slither around on their self-serving, ignorance-worshipping moral bellies, you're probably right...ankle height is way too easy for them.

The President policies could help grow the economy out of the recession and lower the national debt in the long term. The problem is not with the Presidents policies, but that Congress has blocked his every move. The first stimulus did work! He acted swiftly and very effectively stopped the downward spiral. Now we need more of the same, but only better and narrowly targeted.

The problem is the Tea Party. THE TEA PART IS POISON. Is not that the Tea Party has disagreeable policy positions, but that they act in a manner that undermines the foundation of our democracy by spreading lies and squelching legitimate debate. They don’t act individually, they act in lock step as if all controlled from one deceitful and cunning entity that truly hates America and runs the organization like an organized crime family.
