Huckabee: Trump should replace Geithner

Washington (CNN) – Amid calls by the GOP for Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner’s resignation, one Republican is offering an unorthodox choice for a potential replacement.

“Ask Donald Trump to be Treasury secretary,” Mike Huckabee said on Fox News Channel.

The former Arkansas governor elaborated: “Have Donald Trump take the job for 90 days. It’s a game changer.”

“Right now, the president needs something that is truly a game changer, and he doesn’t have that in Geithner,” Huckabee said.

Huckabee, who also hosts a weekly show on Fox, told the program’s hosts that Obama needed to make major changes in his administration to show he was serious about an economic recovery.

“He needs to go,” Huckabee said of Geithner. “President Obama needs to have him walk the plank, not necessarily because it’s going to change the White House policy, but because in politics optics in everything. And right now, the president needs to show a sense of taking command and doing things differently.”

We are in tough times and this kind of ludicrous slinging of pointless ideas is getting old. Trump has the thinnest qualifications for the job, never been a banker and has been in bankruptcy court how many times?

I really would like a reasonable Republican to emerge. At the very least, it would be nice to look at well reasoned, thoughtful ideas to weigh against the other party. However there are none. The entire Republican party has lost its mind and not a one of them wants to stop in front, take the lead and provide a clear path that even *could* lead this country from its peril.

The Republicans who got out of bed this morning and immediately started pointing fingers – at my most generous assessment are not looking at the errors of their own party. When they have made an honest self assessment, then they can point the finger and give advice.

GI Joe, since when do all christians have mansions? Huckabee makes his money from books and having his own TV show. He wasn't a multi-million dollar pastor. And I'm pretty sure Huckabee wasn't being 100% serious about Trump. He knows Obama would never hire Trump for anything. Huckabee was stating a point that Geithner has to go, and guess what!? HE'S RIGHT!

I'm so glad Huckabee isn't running- he wants to put a business man in charge that only knows how to file for bankruptcy when things get tough. Just what we need.

The Republicans apparently have all become mentally ill. Perhaps a long stay in the nervous hospital will improve their schizoid moods and bizarre thinkin'. Or maybe its' just the mushrooms they re smokin'

Mr. Bankruptcy Himself as Treasury Secretary !?!? The man who brags about shafting creditors? A man with a history of misleading investors? In the words of John McEnroe, "you can not be SERIOUS".

Is this what we could have expected from Mike Huckabee as President? It's amazing that there is a swath of voters that actually endorsed Huckabee as a serious presidential choice. Thankfully this will NEVER HAPPEN – Huckabee as PResident or Trump in any official capacity of the US Government.

Trump couldn't work with Obama, for even a day. You have to be a spendthrift to work for Obama, especially in the Treasury.

Is Huckabee, going to be speaking at the Rick Perry Planet of the Apes convention in Houston today ?

When will the Republicans say something that isn't ridiculous? The Tea Party lap-dogs managed to get America's bond rating lowered to 2nd World status. Wasn't that enough destruction of our government to suit the Republicans? Throw them out!

Good lord. The fact that huckabee could say anything this ridiculous sincerely should make any future opinions moot. The standards are so low for republicans like huckabee – it's just astounding.

Yeah, trumps inheritance of wealth and bankruptcies speak for themselves, he himself doesn't have much credibility either.
